LOL a brutal crime committed back in 74 and Jeff is still walking free. I guess he decided to give up a life of crime and harming people when he was almost killed by a t-rex and raptors :-).
@vinnyhoags I agree. I watch this Death Wish movie the LEAST simply because there's no catharsis. Worse, Kersey only kills a bunch of RANDOM thugs who had NOTHING to do with the attack on his family. Sure, it might've been more "realistic" to never have caught and killed Goldblum/Spray-Can/Baldy, but it definitely wasn't SATISFYING.
@DIbeck95 You're forgetting those thugs attacked him first, and he had a gun. I've been attacked before and I found this movie satisfying to a degree, but don't worry. I'm not gonna shoot anybody...not if they don't attack me first. :>)
@TheTallMan35 No, I'm NOT forgetting those thugs "attacked him first", because they didn't. IIRC only the guy Kersey hit in the face with a sock full o' quarters accosted him while Kersey was walking home minding his own business. It was after he returned from Arizona with his "present" that Kersey actively went out into the streets LOOKING for muggers to kill by making himself a visible target so they can "attack" him first and give *him* an excuse to kill them. Think about it.
@DIbeck95 I'm thinking about it. He was a very good citizen and doing the city of New York a great service by disposing of all the thugs and criminals. The crime rate probably dropped by 20% as a result of his actions.
@TheTallMan35 Perhaps. On one hand, if Kersey didn't entrap the muggers by flashing his money around in diners, carrying groceries on subway rides far out of his neighborhood, and wandering the parks, then there'd be no reason to kill them if they hadn't tried to rob him in the first place. But on the other hand, they'd probably go after unarmed innocents *instead* of Kersey, which DOES make him a hero for PREVENTING those attacks and deaths, to which I concur that you have a point.
i think that the one in the brown jacket and the hat is totallllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!
i think the saddest part is that Kersey killed so many muggers like these guys and yet he never found the one who ruined his life. It kinda creates the myth of Paul in his other sequels
@saintofrevenge1 it goes to show us that nomatter what its not gonna bring his wife back or his daughter,,yet there is some justice..some were in paul kersey
dedicated to "Bernhard Goetz" who shot four young colored excuse me... black...men who he said tried to rob him in New York City...:) he should of killed them...:) good for you goetz,,
@abisivepoo you know what I was just looking at this scene & you are right it is Jeff Goldbloom, damn I believe this was 1974 that was the year i was born, jeff is gettin old & bronson is gone now
@skatepunkzero Yup. 1970's flicks pulled no punches; no comic relief; very raw and indicative of the urban violence that was allowed to run wild in those days. Watch this movie and Deniro in Taxi Driver(1976) to really taste the zeitgeist of that time.
@johanna717 Yes he did. I always think of the Death Wish films when I see that movie Deep Cover b/c Jeff was a thug in part 1 and Lawrence Fishburne was a thug in part 2.
if they wished to be accurate the 3 youths would be black
