I want to make this clear for those who may not be familiar with the "loophole" debate. The bottom line is that this supposed loophole is fabricated. There is Federal or VA law that requires background checks on sales between private individuals. There is no more a "gun show loophole" than there is a "snowman loophole" because there are no laws regulating snowmen. NOTHING can happen at a VA gun show that cannot legally happen anywhere else in the State. Learn the truth!
When I was lobbying with the SCCC at the General Assembly, the Brady campaign and MMM seemed satisfied after their "lie-in" that they made their statement, and they all left right after that. The students I was with went right back inside to get back to talking with legislators. As a VA Tech student, I saw the lie-in as more of an emotional cheap-shot than a commemorative activity.
I think they are for guns by the look of their signs. Cool. Also, whoever was supposed to be collecting audio did a crappy job. Also, the protestors appear not to be too genuine, lay down for 5 minutes; not even long enough for a nap. Were they supposed to remind us of WWII, sorta reminded me of how they lined them up, although they should have been laying face down if that was their intent. Over all, not too entertaining. I give it a quarter out of 10 for entertaining value.
There is an important lesson to be learned here: Notice how no one at the gunshow gives a fig whether they're lying down or not and that lying down won't achieve anything. Now note how these people are all in favour of insignificant, sybolic "gesturing" (which sums up most gun laws), rather than effective, reality-based methods of preventing crime. Can you see the link?
I wonder if these people would have a change of heart if they were ever faced by death. Sometimes it takes a scary event to help people understand why we need guns.
A scary event may or may not change peoples attitudes about firearms. It depends upon the person, it may embolden them to be more anti-gun or it may change them into pro-gun, it depends if the person decides to take responsibility or blame guns.
During this demonstration, a student from the Brady group came up to our pro-gun student group and said "I HAD A GUN POINTED AT MY HEAD, AND I NEVER WANT TO FEEL THAT HELPLESS AGAIN!" We simply said "We absolutely agree. That's why we carry." That pissed her off, so she just left.

Guns are part of America's ability to remain free. All you suckers from other countries with no gun rights live as slaves to whatever your government or criminals want to do to you. Go ahead, make fun, call us names and derride us for being free to have the right to keep and bear arms...we don't give a shit what you think, BTW, VA Tech and NIU were "gun free zone" or in reality a "victim/target rich zone." Give the students and professors guns and this would not even be an issue.

What we need is crime control, because criminals don't give a damn about any law in the first place. Ironically liberals hand out "Get out of Jail free" cards and than disarm the law abiders.

I want to make this clear for those who may not be familiar with the "loophole" debate. The bottom line is that this supposed loophole is fabricated. There is Federal or VA law that requires background checks on sales between private individuals. There is no more a "gun show loophole" than there is a "snowman loophole" because there are no laws regulating snowmen. NOTHING can happen at a VA gun show that cannot legally happen anywhere else in the State. Learn the truth!

When I was lobbying with the SCCC at the General Assembly, the Brady campaign and MMM seemed satisfied after their "lie-in" that they made their statement, and they all left right after that. The students I was with went right back inside to get back to talking with legislators. As a VA Tech student, I saw the lie-in as more of an emotional cheap-shot than a commemorative activity.

I think they are for guns by the look of their signs. Cool. Also, whoever was supposed to be collecting audio did a crappy job. Also, the protestors appear not to be too genuine, lay down for 5 minutes; not even long enough for a nap. Were they supposed to remind us of WWII, sorta reminded me of how they lined them up, although they should have been laying face down if that was their intent. Over all, not too entertaining. I give it a quarter out of 10 for entertaining value.

There is an important lesson to be learned here: Notice how no one at the gunshow gives a fig whether they're lying down or not and that lying down won't achieve anything. Now note how these people are all in favour of insignificant, sybolic "gesturing" (which sums up most gun laws), rather than effective, reality-based methods of preventing crime. Can you see the link?

A scary event may or may not change peoples attitudes about firearms. It depends upon the person, it may embolden them to be more anti-gun or it may change them into pro-gun, it depends if the person decides to take responsibility or blame guns.

During this demonstration, a student from the Brady group came up to our pro-gun student group and said "I HAD A GUN POINTED AT MY HEAD, AND I NEVER WANT TO FEEL THAT HELPLESS AGAIN!" We simply said "We absolutely agree. That's why we carry." That pissed her off, so she just left.
