  • Stokowski a Master. Debussy a Master. This is a great achievement in music. Thank you for posting this my HD just crapped out and i live in a different country from my great cds.

  • Inserting this in Twilight led to people experiencing - and possibly enjoying - something they otherwise wouldn't have.

  • @bookofthedead You're absolutely right, the only bad thing is that often people who hear the soundtrack of the film does not have the faintest idea that its author is Claude Debussy and the work was composed in 1905. Well, whatever is good that people at least get to know music that may never have known otherwise. Cheers.

  • @mhharriso8

OUCH, rap is terrible I hope you don't confuse it with hip hop.

  • This is by far, the best.

  • if only rap hadn't come along.....world and society would be a better place

  • by far, the best orchestration of this masterpiece. He was wise enough to leave it alone and not assigned a million different instruments to various sections and phrases.

  • wow

  • This piece is a golden tressure . ^^ It calms my heart fully.

  • That picture that comes up at 2:22- what is that from? Is it an orchestra and a huge piece choir?

  • thank you for posting, when i think of heaven, i think of debussy.

  • Have we forgotten about the Doobie Brothers? LISTEN TO THE MUSIC. Why should you care about flops, fads, or staples? If something is good, then enjoy it. The end.

  • So Twilight took this amazing piece of music and inserted it into its films. Big deal. It was also in the Oceans films but no-one seems to care about that. Point is is that in 5-10 years time it will always be Clair De Lune; one of the beautiful pieces of music ever written. No one will mention the fact it was in any of those films, people will have moved on. Sorry for the mild rant. But getting sick of people going Ella this and Brian that (whatever their names are). Just enjoy the music.

  • nhbm- ,onhgj]jh]d,,,,,,,,,,, sorry my head fell on keyboard due to sleepiness.

  • Dam na imię synowi Leopold . To chyba mówi wszystko. Doskonały kompozytor

  • Magnificant! I worked for a lady whose husband was in the Philadelphia Orchestra and her father was an original member. She said they called him Stokie. She said once he stopped a peformance because people were being noisey. She had some original records left; she had thrown out most of them when she moved to NJ... !

It was fascinating to hear her recall her memories of Stokie, the Orchestra..and she had pictures of them during his time as conductor.

  • shame she had thrown alot of them out though..:/

  • acoustic damping (silicon grease on ceramic elements to remove harmonics), it will sound terrific.

  • I have this record. I think that it is my favorite version. The first side could have been rushed a bit less towards the end, but I think he tried to fit it in. The second side leaves me speechless. Definitely could use a bit less filtering. Sounds kind of muffled here. Use a 3 mil diamond on a stereo cartridge wired mono, and much surface noise will cancel. Ceramic is better because you can trim the shank so that the point rests really close to the yoke. If the cartridge has good

  • @td1238 Please upload it. This transfer is certainly poor. Thanks in advance.

  • Yes, I agree with Edelweiss1424. This transfer to a digital medium is a bit too "warm" and lacking in clarity and high notes. I own two pristine copies of the 70 year old RCA Victor discs and much of their sound is missing here. While I think Stokowski was THE greatest conductor to date...possibly ever...this performance of Claire de Lune sounds more like a Andre Kostelanetz orchestration. I expect to see bubbles floating across the stage and well dressed people sitting at candlelit tables!!

  • @alternatehistories ....However, if you'd like to hear a really good Kostelanetz orchestration, look for "All Through The Night" by Cole Porter on 12" 78 rpm. If played properly, the fidelity is amazing, and the arrangement will really move you.

  • @td1238 I've got nothing against Kostelanetz...in fact, I like his works along with Fiedler's. I'll check out your recommendation and look forward to hearing it. My recommendation to you is check out Kostelanetz's Thais-Meditation with the Robin Hood Dell Orchestra...very lush sounding...it's a B-side of a Columbia 78rpm album set MX-257 "Bolero". It'll make the hair on the back of your neck stand up!!!

  • @alternatehistories zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • @alternatehistories Please upload it. This transfer is certainly poor. Thanks in advance.

  • it its LE le Le LEOPOLD!!!!

  • omg... Listen to you complain. What a blessing it is that young people are finding this priceless treasure. Twilight~Clair de Lune. How appropriate. let them learn to live and love.

  • this is the most beautiful thing i have ever heard.

  • With the audio restoration, I would have eased back on the filtration and pushed the treble frequencies with equalization; you can usually pull out a lot in the grooves that is not often heard but they're there. This can be done even on a few acoustic recordings. Thanks for this beautiful offering... Stoki was such a magician!

  • Twilight is the new generations romeo + juliet, be it about vampires its still a love story, this song is used in order to capture the emotion felt through its beauty...people should be happy this music is still being listened to today in modern culture...and I'm 20 year old weed smoking hip hop fan, I just admire all kinds of music

  • Piękne i ten szum miód na uszy:)

  • très émue...si belle interprétation.........et quelle retenue! quelle élégance !!!nuances délicates.........

  • i'd love to hear an arrangement for a choir

  • elegant!

  • so beautiful...

God... why does this song have to be on the Twilight soundtrack of all things?! DX

ah well. i like the orchestra better then the piano anyway.

  • i try not to think about it

  • amen. twilight was a travesty of poor-usage

  • @thewritingwriterof89 Haha. Yeah.

  • @thewritingwriterof89 I'm not sure... I think Twilight had its uses. It introduced people to Debussy, so is it really that bad? It may not have been the best usage of the piece, but I'm quite sure you could find worse.

  • Wow!!!

I love this version. Though the original is always better.

  • too beautiful to be true
