Always did and still love this group. Don't know about downloads, but I received both their albums on cd from Mark Mangold's website, plus he also gave me a bunch of his other stuff for free. Great guy, and such a diversified talent.
Pretty cool to find this, one of the albums that my buddies and I listened to all the time back in high school. Still treasure this vinyl. Thanx for sharing this, so many good songs on this.
First became aware of this song via a compilation album from a Castle Donnington concert from way back when. Still have it stashed upstairs somewhere...I should dig it out.
I never thought i would ever hear this song. Last time i heard it was in 1987 andi never knew the name of the band or the song, but I remembered the chorus. you tube fucking rules. They remind me of Europe.
we might live in an age of great technological advancement but one things for sure todays music sucks more then an obliging hooker
And no amount of technological breakthrough can save it from sucking so much Thanks to You Tube at least we need never forget what fucking good music is
great upload ive been looking for this cd for over a decade I thought I dreamt the whole thing thanks for posting sounds just as good as I remembered it.
They say this is soft rock but I just don't see it. I think "Is This Love" by Whitesnake or Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" is more soft rock than "Don't You Know What Love Is." I've heard softer Def Leppard songs.
I remember hearing this on Kansas City KYYS 102 winter 1981-82. My brother taped it from the station one night and we were both way impressed with the musicianship of these guys, especially the drummer with the triplets rolls. I have a live LP where they were the showopener live at the 1st Castle Donnington in England, but the sound is not good, would be nice too see any video of that show. Sorry but I had that 1st & 2nd album CD, and there was not one other rockin song on the cd like this one
@Cyberfunker Yes. But it costs an arm & a leg. B/c it's an import they had to jack up the price. Even a used copy is kind of expensive. You gotta be practically a millionaire to afford the CD. I myself would rather see it at iTunes. All iTunes has is a live version of "Don't You Know What Love Is."
This is why youtube is so freakin' fantastic: people posting songs most people have forgotten and have probably been out of print for a decade or more. I used to hear this on KSHE-95. BTW have you ever wondered how many songs are lodged somewhere in your brain that you haven't thought of for half your life? Thanks for posting this, and any other KSHE classics you may have made available.
@iamthemercury In addition I think it's absolutely ridiculous to spend $45 on a single "2 in 1" Japanese CD import. That's how much the price of Touch's "Complete Works I & II" is via Barnes & Noble online. That CD is a combo of Touch's first 2 albums including their S/T debut w/these 2 songs on it. I'm surprised WMG's reissue partners Wounded Bird & Friday Music haven't thought of reissuing it already.
@INISHMORE1974 Even $17 for 11 songs is too much. But those people at WMG/Rhino must be complete idiots that they can't make the album into a digital download. WMG is doing for Touch what UMG is doing for the 2 A&M albums by Tarney/Spencer Band & BMG for the first 2 albums by Franke & the Knockouts...leaving them off iTunes & for what reason I have yet to know?
@bucky468 Actually, I paid $17 for 28 songs. The CDs that I bought contained the first 2 Trust albums+ 4 bonus tracks. It was a 2 CD set. I agree with you that lame ass bands like Frankie & Those that need to be knocked out and others should not supercede truly talented bands like Trust and others on iTunes or anywhere else for that matter
@INISHMORE1974 Now hold it. I actually liked Franke & the Knockouts. The band gave us Tico Torres who has been Bon Jovi's drummer since the outset. Their biggest hit was a little soft but not as lame as, say, Air Supply, Christopher Cross or John Denver. Franke is NOT on iTunes & BMG needs to post the first 2 albums at iTunes. I don't know why Apple or UMG won't put up Tarney Spencer (also not lame)? Franke's music is similar to that of Touch (I do not know what you mean when you say Trust?)
@bucky468 I don't know man, I just was never a fan of Franke, I never said that Franke and Tarney Spencer shouldn't be on iTunes. If anything shouldn't be on iTunes its definitly rap and the little bitch Justin Bieber, When I said Trust I actually meant Touch. I was listening to Trust when I was typing my comment and I had just got back from the bar. Trust was a french rock band from the late 70s early eighties. They dId the original version of "Anti-social". Ive never heard of Tarney Spencer.
@INISHMORE1974 Tarney Spencer's biggest hit was "No Time To Lose" which hit the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart twice, in 1979 & 1981, respectfully. It's here at youtube. Take a listen to it. You may like it.
@bucky468 ....and don't forget ex-guitar player for Frankie and the Knockouts the great Bobby Messano. The man is a whiz and still out there on the road playing with Starz as well as his blues stuff. He has played with MANY greats in the rock biz. He still speaks of his time in FATK.
@Pellet99 Do you personally know (Messano)? I still have hope that Sony-BMG will reissue FATK's 2 Millennium/RCA albums & make them available at iTunes. But I'm not gonna hold my breath any longer.
@INISHMORE1974 And for what reason do you think Franke & Tarney Spencer should NOT be at iTunes? Have you heard any of the shit from today? It sucks much more than Franke ever did. Franke was a good early 80's melodic rock band just like Touch & Tarney Spencer. All 3 bands music should be honored by having it put up at iTunes. Reissue company Renaissance Records wanted to reissue Tarney Spencer's 2 albums but were flat out denied by UMG. Sony-BMG did the same to RR for Franke's albums.
@bucky468 I usually avoid listening to modern music because most of it completely sucks. There's a lot of old stuff that smaller record labels wanted to re-issue. But the major labels shot it down. That really pisses me off. There's a lot of top notch music from the 70s and 80s that will probably never be re-issued because of those ass clowns.
@iamthemercury The best price for this CD I could find was $24.99 for an import reissue of the Touch S/T debut on the Rock Candy-UK label. The CD has 11 tracks. That's certainly not what I'd call cheap. I found it at Borders online. Amazon might have it at a better price.
My daughter was cleaning my albums, and I was going through the crate, and came across this. And I'm all, "Why'd I buy this!?!" This song! OMG!! I'm SO OLD. But it still sounds good, in that bubblegum-y, hair band kinda way. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Doug Howard was set to replace Kasim Sulton in Utopia and even co-wrote the song "I'm Looking at you but I'm talking to myself" with the rest of Utopia. I think
Todd even produced an album for Touch. Kasim ultimately decided to rejoin Utopia and Doug was out but later joined Todd as a singer in the Acapella Tour in '85.
Another winner for Mangold, need the American Tears version of "listen can you feel it" from the Power House album, or the shortened version by Touch on this album.. any suggestions?
I spent 20 + years looking for more material from this band after hearing the mysterious 'Sweetest Victory' from the Rocky IV soundtrack that wasn't even in the film! Although a highlight from the album.
Didnt realise they were the first band at the 1980 Monsters of Rock!
I bought 'Call Me When the Spirit Moves You' from Tower Records in Stockton in late Summer of 1980 and listened to it until I almost wore it out. Still have the 45! Thanks a bunch for posting!
@joseph60us , Small world, i bought my copy at tower records in stockton as well, Lincoln center! Actully My brother turned me on to them , His band was in Stockton Very Popular back then!! James Blonde!
Yep! Lincoln Center, that's where I bought my records! I went to Lincoln High with Eric (I mean James)...I think he was a year ahead of me but we had classes together...I remember going to a Greg Kihn concert with my buddies at the Fox Theatre in Stockton and James Blonde opened up the concert...the first several rows were filled with girls who were in madly in love with him...they were good and must have had a recording contract offer somewhere.
We first heard this on KYYS-102, in KC winter 81-82,managed to find live version LP from Donington, but the sound is way poor took until 2000 to find the record as a import on cd, the drummer lays it down awesome nice triplets on drums way cool analog synth solo, honestly the rest of this record, and the follow-up touch 2 are lame , now I will look for 707 Megaforce on youtube also from 1982
Brilliant to find this, it`s made my day. Been great fun to find all my old favourites again khlaatu. The original album`s one of my all time favourites, but I lost it years ago. Thanks !!!!!!!
I actually bought the cassette of this back in the day, but I had to write Acto Records to get it, because no store was selling it. I paid $7.98 plus 50 cents for shipping, for a total of $8.48. Oh to get good music at that price today!
I tried for a long time to get this song too, but I found it about 9 years ago on "The Nap". (Don't tell Lars). I remember it from the radio, but for a long time, we thought the band was Prism, but that was another band.
I never heard the second song before. Thanks for posting it. I'd love to hear the rest of the album.
found this song many years on my brother's Memorex tape. I searched and searched and searched. For many years I though this was "Shooting Star." Then the Internet came along and in 1999 I found out that it was "Touch" Great song!
Look for Japanese version "Complete Works'. It has 2 CDs and 1DVD. DVD has Slow Train, Listen, Don't Give it Away, Last Chance for Love, Can't keep from Cryn', Say You'll Stay, Lookin' for Love, Serious Blue Boy, Love don't fail me, Last Chance for Love, There's a Light and lack Star. You can find it at Amazon Japan. Cost 3,150 yen.
Been searching for this song since 81'. Didnt know the artist or title. only a few lyrics. Im tripping right now listening to it....Its about time. I thought I'de never hear it again...So cool.
Me too! Had it on a tape I recorded from The Friday Rock show with Tommy Vance in the UK and it takes me right back to being 17 and dressed in denim and leather. Oh those days...
Nice to know someone else out there, besides me has been on this journey. Determined to find this illusive song. Its been humming in my head since 81'...Farout!
Well he Married My Mom's Mom,And my mom married his brother, Rand Kithcart, and Glenn's wife's name is Janet, they have a dog named rosie and own The Bentley inn in Bay head,NJ.....Don't Bevlive me? Search Bentley inn,Bay head.
Heard this on the radio yesterday. Good to hear stuff like this. I heard it on KQ 92 in Minnesota good station plays quite a bit of this obscure stuff.
what ever happen to craig brooks the lead singer for Touch? does anyone know if he went to play for a different rock band after they broke up in 1981? Also if anyone has a live video for " don't you know what love is " we would love to see it. So please post it. Also everybody out there that loves this group they now have a DVD Video on Touch Complete Works Definitive 3CDS 2 CD 1 DVD and you can watch this incredible group play these songs. These Videos are amazing Mark mangold is unbelievable
Listening to these songs just takes me back to donington 1980,this band blew me away,a few weeks later Grand Prix played at Reading rock festival, awesome,my heavy metal albums were consigned to the loft, aor all the way and still is.
There is a live version of this song on an album called Monsters of rock. Scorpions,Whitesnake, and Riot's great version of "Road Racin'". Anyone can get that album please reply.
Wonderful,bt recently was published a double cd called TOUCH THE COMPLETE WORKS with the entire second album produced by Todd Rundgren anever published! It's a fantastic record!
yeah great band!! I have the touch complete works!! the second album was much more Hard rock!! Simply spectacular!! SOng such as Beg me, yOU'RE not a child anymore incredible band!!
EXCELLENT SONG!! Not only do I have the Castle Donnington album that has the live version of this, I just transferred it to CD so I can listen to it in my truck!!
ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREAT SONGS!! HEARD THIS LIVE AT THE FIRST "MONSTERS" AT DONNINGTON. A BAND RIPE FOR REUNION. If you love this, check out "Drive she said", they rock!!
Check out the song "Blackstar" on this album. Or even the power ballad "Love Don't Fail Me". Very cool band.Didn't read all the posts.Has anyone mentioned the sad part about Touch?Mark Mangold, keyboards & vocals, and Craig Brooks, guitar & vocals sadly went on to play and write on Micheal Bolton's album with the song "Fools Game" on it.I swear, they were the only reason I even checked out tha album. No really...
g26...hell yeah i know "april wine"...she's a roller/sign of the gypsy queen...one of the better canadian exports my friend!!! i'm 5 minutes away from sarnia, so unfortunatly i get exposed to all that garbage, hehe...but they are/were really cool!! and aleks...yeah...1980(touch)...one of those killer lp's that slipped out...along w/billy squiers "don't say no" lp...pretty much the 2 most rockin' lp's released w/in that 2 year period.
How about Billy Squier's "You Should Be High Love"? I think it came out just before this. I've tried to find it here on Youtube, but no luck yet. It's a killer track!
Great gig Castle Donnington 1980 - I was there. For some reason (proably contractural) Judas Priest never made in onto the Album but also performed. April Wine. Anyone remember them?
yeah baby !!! i always dug these guys. i remember them with shooting star, saga, prism, aldo nova just before the wave of the big hair metal bands. excellent jam.
I found my old tape in th storage room and played it on my stereo. I forgot about them, but I'm so glad someone still remembers. Now I could only find the CD with the above artwork. "Theres a light in the distances, so bright" (Theres A Light - Touch)
I remember loving this song when I was a kid back in the 80s. At first, I thought this song was by Toto. It took me about 25 years to locate a CD online and I found out that TOUCH was the name of the group. :)
Then when the CD came in the mail, I found another sone on there named, "When the Spirit Moves You". Don't you just love surprises like that!!!
Are there two lead singers on this song ???

Thanks. I couldn't remember Tom Barnard's name. Hope to get back up that way some day!

KQ plays too much of everything. You hear Crue, then Tears for Fears. And of course too much southern rock

wederell1 3 years ago
Check out the song "Blackstar" on this album. Or even the power ballad "Love Don't Fail Me". Very cool band.Didn't read all the posts.Has anyone mentioned the sad part about Touch?Mark Mangold, keyboards & vocals, and Craig Brooks, guitar & vocals sadly went on to play and write on Micheal Bolton's album with the song "Fools Game" on it.I swear, they were the only reason I even checked out tha album. No really...
ace2k707 3 years ago
So agree about the Bolton CD. It is fantastic. Was lucky enough to see Touch and Drive She Said, but not Dan Reed sadly. Cheers. Mark in the UK.

g26...hell yeah i know "april wine"...she's a roller/sign of the gypsy queen...one of the better canadian exports my friend!!! i'm 5 minutes away from sarnia, so unfortunatly i get exposed to all that garbage, hehe...but they are/were really cool!! and aleks...yeah...1980(touch)...one of those killer lp's that slipped out...along w/billy squiers "don't say no" lp...pretty much the 2 most rockin' lp's released w/in that 2 year period.
jimmythecreep 3 years ago
How about Billy Squier's "You Should Be High Love"? I think it came out just before this. I've tried to find it here on Youtube, but no luck yet. It's a killer track!
