@ArtypNk there we go, one sensible person. Idk why people always associate windows with the BSOD when its one of the rarest things that happens on a Windows computer.
lol... you can delete NTLDR directly from drive C:\ then hit the reset button and you will get the same result without wasting too much time (like wasting time watching this video)... i will only take 3 seconds.... if u want to destroy someone's computer, over clocked it 'til the cpu fries...
@badsaddamdotnet That is partially true but what we're talking bout is that Macs overall are not better than Pcs cuz pcs offer a way larger range of ''equipment'' to a way larger spectrum of customers than macs do. Macs are too expensive (even the smallest/cheapest ones) unlike pcs that can be bought for as little as $250.
@skyangelnaruto So you buy your PC, then you have to go through the sometimes endless installation process of Windows. Windows XP Pro doesn't install at all, ever, you have to edit the install CD just to install it. How retarded is that. Windows Vista is just a piece of shit and never works at all. And Windows 7 is a massive memory hog that is overpriced and improves nothing over Vista.
Sorry but stop trolling here. I used Linux for many years and finally switched back (mostly) to Windows Vista (and later Win7). Both are very stable! Installation takes some time but reinstalls are no longer needed every 6 months as it sometimes was required for WinXP. Its a mature and robust system. It has minor flaw, though but linux distributions also have some.
@NasenbaerYT It only has minor flaws on beast systems. If your computer is more than 3 years old its slow as a turtle. Macs and Linux are fast on anything. I have a PowerBook G4 from 2003 with Mac OS X Leopard and dual booting Yellow Dog Linux on it and they are both as fast as a PC from 2008. You go and buy Windows 7 for $300 and put it in your computer and it says your hardware is not supported and you can't get a refund. PCs are constantly outdated.
@laurabobwo Im sorry if Windows has screwed up for you but for me, i installed xp on 3 computers in less than 30 mins each and win7 only takes like 15 mins, win vista only took like 20. Idk if it's cuz of my computer's hardware but ive never had any problems with either xp, vista, win 7 and even win 95 (yes ive actually used that). All of them are stable. And what's up with people and windows vista, buy a fucking proper computer and you won't have any problems (like me, no problems what so ever!)
@laurabobwo You may just think that im a fanboy but i speak from experience, ive been using windows os's for about 10 years now and i have never seen a blue screen of death (believe it or not).
@skyangelnaruto You are the luckiest soul on earth to have never seen a BSOD. And to have had a stable experience with Vista. Which version of XP diid you install? Definitely not pro. Microsoft screwed up with Pro. (Again) It always hangs on Installing Devices. Windows Vista needs the best hardware ever made just to barely run. And most of the problems are software related anyway. And your PC will be outdated in a year anyway.
@laurabobwo I dont think Ive ever had any XP Professional machine hang on detecting hardware... And disable Superfecth in Vista (coupled with 4gb ram) and it runs pretty much like XP so no real problem there.
@EkenasTV That's impossible. EVERY Windows XP Pro install hangs on detecting hardware. Unless you got a edited install CD. You actually have to edit Microsoft's own product yourself to make it work. Wtf. And whatever "Superfetch" is if you have to disable a core system feature and have 4 GB of RAM just make it run a little bit like XP, the system is unstable.
I only saw a couple in my life, mostly when I tried running multiple flash using internet tabs, or older games on strange video cards sold in 3d world countries only. It's a fairly rare thing, that BSOD.
@laurabobwo I have very bad hardware, i mean the computer cant handle to many things at once and its already 2 years old. Its only the bare minimum. I installed win xp pro on a 10 year old computer, it runs on like only 125mb ram max (the computer has 255mb i think) and it runs very smoothly believe it or not. it only has 233mhz and its kinda fast. Its rlly fast when installing devices max 2 mins or smthn.
@skyangelnaruto i meant the vista is fast with the devices, havent actually tried the xp only once and that went well (idk but i didnt wait for a long time).
And the point of this being? - We all know that Windows (whichever version) can be volatile... Doesn't take even a retarded chimp to mess up an operating system... All you need to do is compress the C:\ or whatever boot drive inclusive of the boot.ini file and you'll have a machine which fails to boot...
So... your point is???
Am i seriously missing something here?
Give me your reasoning behind this on the back of a postage stamp...
Surely you should be doing everything to stablize it... No?
Look im a gamer. that's it. i have a Mac and a PC so no flame wars ok. My PC plays anything i want on maximum but my Mac Pro almost always eats up the 6gb of RAM. The only good thing about Mac's are the screens and style but hey if i wanted bragging rights i'd just buy an overpriced alienware.
@hyperspeed986 Do you not understand how modern kernels allocate memory? I have a linux box with well over 24gb of ram running as a server, and it uses almost all of it, however if you know what's going on it's not so scary, it uses all of that memory to cache applications in the memory for future use quickly. the only reason windows is good for gaming is because games are written for it. And if you wan't to know why DirectX is a BAD, type in john camrack directX rant into google.
@breakfastisgo My point exactly we need less people like you scaring people away from simple stuff such as linux / open software ( GNU ) by telling them it's complicated when you yourself have no idea what you're talking about.
@asystematicayhos Knowing the utility of a *nix system isn't exactly a complicated thing, and absolutely nothing I said was scary. If what I said scared you or anyone around you, causing you to think that, then you or the people around you are incredibly sensitive.
@asystematicayhos Excuse me? School computers. Bloody windows XP! I bloody back up my macs because I like them! The school doesn't back up 600 bloody computers do they?
@crazycommentsgirl That's why you take a flash drive with you with linux on it, that way all of your files are in one spot, and you won't ever loose them. ( That is unless you don't put your flash drive on your keychain and then you loose it )
@PENGUINLOLARMY i used to belittle others comment but then i matured... stupid troll dicks are for chicks... oh by the way i bet you sit behind a computer all day, sucks to be you. i get out at least.
@gixGI7 Kind of, yeah. I hate when people insult Macs just because they can't afford them. PCs suck. But there cheap. So if you need a computer for slow web browsing and THATS ALL. Then get a PC. If you want a computer for fast web browsing, good gaming, video editing, music editing, picture editing, and pretty much everything under the sun, then get a Mac.
@laurabobwo you said PC's are cheaper that why they suck -.- and tell me why Macs are better? beacuse of the old tech they have? Beacuse you cant upgrade it? Beacuse you cant play games?Beacuse even consoles are more powerful with theyre outdated tech?
@Astro247z Are you retarded? Macs use BRAND NEW DAMN TECH. You can upgrade it you retard. Mac Mini: Slide the bottom off for inside access. iMac: Slide the back off. Mac Pro: Slide the side off. You CAN play games on Macs, they have awesome hardware. Play Mac games, or use Wine, or boot camp. Get your facts straight before making retarded comments...
@laurabobwo sure.. i didint know raedon 4950 was brand new xD aKa 3years old oh slide the back off? then what? you cant change CPU or VGA play games? Oh yeah.. TF2
@Astro247z AMD RADEON HD 2011. GOD YOUR DUMB. YOU CAN EASILY CHANGE THE VGA, NOT THE CPU, BUT IT ALREADY HAS AN AWESOME CPU IN THEIR SYSTEMS. AND YOU CAN PLAY MORE DAMN GAMES THAN TF2 YOU RETARD! LOOK ON STEAM! THERE'S A WHOLE DAMN SECTION! AND FOR THE ONES FOR WINDOWS, USE WINE! OR BOOT CAMP! OR PARALLELS! YOU ARE SO RETARDED!!!!
@Astro247z Its the Amd Radeon HD from 2011, thats not actually what its called. How are Macs shitty arcades? Tell me how. I have never once seen a PC that's faster than a Mac that's been made within the last 2 years of the PC. In fact, my friends brand new 4.20 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo Overclocked Nvidia Geforce 8660 Custom build doesn't even come close to the speed of the 2009 iMac. Mac = Awesome.
@laurabobwo I have 8core OC'd to 5GHz also i have dual Asus EAH 6950 both clocked to 1.2GHz and with memory of 5Gigs also i have 32Gigs of RAM and my system is fully watercooled
@laurabobwo You're right, a Mac does use better hardware to make up for an OS that is...well, just god awful. For example, a poorly written program on Linux, or windows; The OS will forcefully reclaim the memory. Not Mac though, plus it's inferior architecture. So, why would you openly admit to using mac, let alone and talk about how it's good? Honestly; if I were ever gifted a mac, any other OS would be replacing it. Also; Lets look at the iPad, and Apple's refusal to allow flash...
@omnivir Excuse me? Sorry for my ignorance, but how is the Mac OS "God-Damn-Awful"?
If anything, it's Windows that is god damn awful. I saved an assignment that was worth a scholarship and it got a virus at school. Using XP. Goodbye scholarship. And my assignment was an A+! I have used Macs my entire life, and the only problem I ever had was due to a powerout...
On from that... what would I choose? The brand new 2009 HP's at school or a iMac G3? The iMac of course. Oh, and PS. my dad still uses an orginial iPod. And last thing... Windows OS' always come out after Mac OS'. WHY? Because every brilliant feature Apple makes has to be God damn ripped off by Microsft. Take a look at Windows 7, and you'll see what I mean if you compare it to Snow Leopard.
@crazycommentsgirl So it looks better, but does less. Great Trade off.... It's not like they turn out an OS in five minutes. They started work on 7 RIGHT after vista, 8, right after 7, me right before xp... Oh, and I'd rather not pay the extra 50-200% cost on software. And before you get amusinly ragefaced over it; it's not mac haters, they have to write it for an OS that no one ever uses.
@omnivir No one ever uses this OS? Do your research, man. And about not browsing safe, I was bloody on our school intranet. I opened IE and the whole system went down. Sure, blame me for that. Oh and by the way, OS X lion was thirty bucks. At least there is only one version. Not ultimate, professional, starter, home basic, home premium... on Mac I get what I need in one package. And also, the hardware is better than any 6000 pos could you buy.
@crazycommentsgirl You can get viruses on any OS, it's your fault for not browsing safe. Don't blame software if you can't use it correctly. Ever heard of backups? Any major project I'm working on, I have copies on more than one computer, just in case. It takes skill to do what you did. To trash a computer at that level... If mac takes off, right now, Viruses would be far worse, and do more, than on windows. Same could be said for linux, though; They are better for it, than windows.
@omnivir How is the Mac OS god awful? At school, they have 1 eMac with Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar. Totally out of date. Guess what? It still works better than the hundreds of PC's they have. Everybody else is screaming about how there computer won't turn on, or how there assignment disappeared, and every day, all the PC's don't work, because there all running Windows Server 2008, and the main server machine, always BSODS. Me, I just sit down. Log in. Hold down ESC. And say, "Grad Assignment."
@laurabobwo I told you, how it was awful, read. That argument works both ways. My net book with 1.66 ghtz processor, and 1 gig ddr3 RAM is faster than thousands of macs. (It'd be on par with a mac from 2004/5?) WinServer is not meant to be a personal computer. It's a server? Bind Dragon to a key, sit down, press said key, and say it. Apple is out to over charge for an OS that doesn't run as well. Like it or not, it's for the people who think they know something about computers, but don't.
@omnivir What does Mac do worse than Windows? How does it not run as well? Give me examples. I haven't had one problem with every Mac I've ever used. With Windows however you get situations all the time where it crashes, won't boot, where you have to reformat your hard drive all the time. Windows sucks. It just does. I'd rather use Linux if I have to have a PC. LOL that's funny that your 1.66 GHZ net book is on par with 2005 Macs, because they were 1.0 GHZ and 1.8 GHZ...
@laurabobwo I told you, learn to read. It's architecture is slower. It doesn't forcefully reclaim ram, ect. When was the last time you used window, Windows 98 First Edition? Windows crashes VERY rarely. Before you tell me Macs don't get viruses, They do. and most mac users are so stupid, that they can't clean it up, unlike the most basic windows user. Mac makes up for crappy software with better hardware, and making things look better. If you polish crap, you just get polished crap.
@omnivir Wtf have you been smoking? Windows crashes ALL THE TIME. And not just the OS, the applications. If counter strike crashes, and it will, You have to reboot your computer. No matter what. If any full screen application crashes, same thing. Windows: 98% of the viruses on the internet. Mac OS X: 1% All Linux distros: 1%
Put one free antivirus scanner on a Mac, and you will never have a problem. And besides, if Mac sucks so bad, then Windows does too, because its just a copy of Mac.
@laurabobwo You do realize your example was based on a game that they had to be compatible for two systems, 98, and NT. 98 was MS DOS based. and NT(i.e., XP) uses two different file systems for starters. And one lone example only proves what I've been saying for years. Valve is a crappy company. If you could give a list of 5 games that did that in the last five years, I'd be grateful.
@laurabobwo I'm just going to point out the obvious; poorly written software isn't the fault of the OS. Never played GTA, Never had any issue with the others though. I could easily in 5 minutes write a bit of software that could crash all the time. That's the OS' Fault? They tend to just port games from 360, or PS3, and don't integrate it into windows correctly.
Oh, So they did finally reclaim the memory? It took how long? Me, I'd be wondering what else apple forgot to include.
@omnivir Leopard came out in 2007... >.> And it is the OS's fault, that when a full screen application crashes, for example FSX, which is made by Microsoft, you have to reboot every time because you can't see anything except for what the application looked like the second it crashed.
@laurabobwo Mac has been around sense the 80s, and it took them 20+ years to do something basic? So, if I write something that crashes, macs every time it boots up, it's macs fault? Not all Windows crashes as much as you claim. You make it sound that IT WILL ALWAYS. It's rare. Most of the time most things crash, you can restart the application. I've had times where windows were more stable than linux.
@omnivir It isn't rare for Windows to crash. And like I said before, If Mac sucks so badly, then Windows does too, because every time Apple comes out with something new, it's immediately ripped off by Microsoft. You can't restart the application if its full screen. If its full screen, you're screwed. And the only time when Windows is more stable than Linux or Mac, is when you're not doing anything and its sitting at the desktop.
@laurabobwo When was the last time you had windows crash? Rarely is there a time you can't get to the task manager if you know what you're doing. You talk like Apple made everything from the ground up. They just put ideas together. You know the two finger touch interface. It was made my Microsoft in the 90s. It sounds like you haven't looked at windows sense 98. It has improved A LOT. I've had more than one distro crash in the way you're talking about windows, just a few months ago.
@omnivir You can't see my situation. Every time a full screen application crashes, it stays on that screen with just the mouse. If you press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, the little hour glass comes up, and then nothing. You can't see anything except for what the application looked like when it crashed. Microsoft didn't make the two finger touch interface. It was made by a company called Finger Works. Apple bought that company, and improved there tech and used it. 98? I have Windows 7 Ultimate.
@omnivir I'm sorry, what? Mac users are stupid? I completely disagree with so-called crappy software. Windows software is crappy. The software that's crappy is software that has been ported straight from windows. I am using a 5 year old copy of Aperture, and it's better than any version of windows. Fangirl I may be, but 1.66 Ghz, and I GIG OF RAM? That is terrible my macbook (2009) has 2.26 Ghz intel and 4 gigs of ddr3 ram. Beat that I say. Beat that.
@laurabobwo Umm, truth be said, an alienware laptop(NOT CHEAP at all) beats the livin ½#%& out of every mac in any area that you could possibly think of (that is hardware related). The mac is only good for multimedia solutions and that is purely because of software. Saying a mac is good at games, cmon, dont sink so low, there are many games that aren't supported on mac (Wine, parallels, bootcamp just prove that macs have to rely on windows being able to run games and other software) .
@laurabobwo Yeah I know but what makes it work is not a function of a Mac but an additional program that was not made by Apple. That means that Macs have serious compatibility issue and they need to be fixed unlike PC which supports everything, notampering invloved. It like this, humans can fly but only with the help of machines which makes birds superior since they can fly naturally.
@laurabobwo They're called Linux and Mac programs for a reason, they are only made for Linux and Macs. Anyways, Windows has waaay more to offer it's just unecessary to come look for programs on the OSX or Linux platform. And the only thing I would think of that really needs to be supported by all OS's is games, not programs, and all major ''good'' games are availible for Windows.
@skyangelnaru Yeah, but all the Windows games can be played on Mac or Linux with Wine, and there are some Mac and Linux games that aren't on Windows, and you can't play them on Windows no matter what.
VMs aren't slow if you use reasonably new hardware (with virtualization support and 4 cores) as long you do not need 3D HW support.
But again WINE is far away from an always useable solution for windows games. Yes, WINE is really nice but there are also many games that do not work - not only DX10/11 titles. appdb.winehq.org lists 813 retail games that are marked as "garbage". Age Of Empires 3, Anno 1503 and Gothic 4 are prominent examples which use DX9.
@NasenbaerYT Its never perfect. VM's aren't perfect either. Even with new hardware VM's chew up your memory and freeze up your computer. Pretty well every game out there needs 3D HW support. And there's also WineBottler, WineSkin, and Crossover, which works pretty well seamlessly.
Most 3D-based linux games where orginally programmed for windows or where developed with portability in mind and run also on Win32 natively. Tell me 5 nice linux games which are not available for Windows! For everything without 3D-H/W-requirement a VM is well suited (use it on my own - Win as base OS and Linux in a VM). And if this is not applicable for you, you could also use a dual boot system. But do'nt tell us that there is absolutely no reason to use windows. :)
@skyangelnaruto you could spend 2 grand easy on a meaty Gaming PC true, but i can buy a ps3 for $400. dont truncate the Mac or Linux Platform with uneducated claims. the truth is the Internet would be nothing without Linux and Mac. Windows is a good platform the the average joe, Linux is for the power user and Nerd and Mac offers to a wide spectrum of Computer users. Mac is Unix (based) Linux is a wanna be Unix and windows is an over priced NT version of DOS.
@laurabobwo Hey fucktard... I just put together my own PC for the price of two Macs. What's that about not being able to afford Macs again? I wouldn't take a Mac if you PAID me $3K.
It's easier and faster than that.. you can delete ntldr to disable system startup, although files will still be recoverable. If you're trying to destroy a system, having the OS running doesn't really help...

@hyperspeed986 Do you not understand how modern kernels allocate memory? I have a linux box with well over 24gb of ram running as a server, and it uses almost all of it, however if you know what's going on it's not so scary, it uses all of that memory to cache applications in the memory for future use quickly. the only reason windows is good for gaming is because games are written for it. And if you wan't to know why DirectX is a BAD, type in john camrack directX rant into google.

Also; Lets look at the iPad, and Apple's refusal to allow flash...
omnivir 1 month ago
@omnivir Excuse me? Sorry for my ignorance, but how is the Mac OS "God-Damn-Awful"?
If anything, it's Windows that is god damn awful. I saved an assignment that was worth a scholarship and it got a virus at school. Using XP. Goodbye scholarship. And my assignment was an A+! I have used Macs my entire life, and the only problem I ever had was due to a powerout...
crazycommentsgirl 1 month ago
On from that... what would I choose? The brand new 2009 HP's at school or a iMac G3? The iMac of course. Oh, and PS. my dad still uses an orginial iPod. And last thing... Windows OS' always come out after Mac OS'. WHY? Because every brilliant feature Apple makes has to be God damn ripped off by Microsft. Take a look at Windows 7, and you'll see what I mean if you compare it to Snow Leopard.
Have a nice day.
crazycommentsgirl 1 month ago
@crazycommentsgirl So it looks better, but does less. Great Trade off.... It's not like they turn out an OS in five minutes. They started work on 7 RIGHT after vista, 8, right after 7, me right before xp... Oh, and I'd rather not pay the extra 50-200% cost on software. And before you get amusinly ragefaced over it; it's not mac haters, they have to write it for an OS that no one ever uses.
omnivir 1 month ago
@omnivir No one ever uses this OS? Do your research, man. And about not browsing safe, I was bloody on our school intranet. I opened IE and the whole system went down. Sure, blame me for that. Oh and by the way, OS X lion was thirty bucks. At least there is only one version. Not ultimate, professional, starter, home basic, home premium... on Mac I get what I need in one package. And also, the hardware is better than any 6000 pos could you buy.
crazycommentsgirl 4 weeks ago
@crazycommentsgirl You can get viruses on any OS, it's your fault for not browsing safe. Don't blame software if you can't use it correctly. Ever heard of backups? Any major project I'm working on, I have copies on more than one computer, just in case. It takes skill to do what you did. To trash a computer at that level... If mac takes off, right now, Viruses would be far worse, and do more, than on windows. Same could be said for linux, though; They are better for it, than windows.
omnivir 1 month ago
@crazycommentsgirl well if you didn't back it up then you sir are a complete idiot and are not scholarship worthy in the first place.

And say, "Grad Assignment."
laurabobwo 1 month ago
@laurabobwo I told you, how it was awful, read. That argument works both ways. My net book with 1.66 ghtz processor, and 1 gig ddr3 RAM is faster than thousands of macs. (It'd be on par with a mac from 2004/5?) WinServer is not meant to be a personal computer. It's a server? Bind Dragon to a key, sit down, press said key, and say it. Apple is out to over charge for an OS that doesn't run as well. Like it or not, it's for the people who think they know something about computers, but don't.
omnivir 1 month ago
@omnivir What does Mac do worse than Windows? How does it not run as well? Give me examples. I haven't had one problem with every Mac I've ever used. With Windows however you get situations all the time where it crashes, won't boot, where you have to reformat your hard drive all the time. Windows sucks. It just does. I'd rather use Linux if I have to have a PC. LOL that's funny that your 1.66 GHZ net book is on par with 2005 Macs, because they were 1.0 GHZ and 1.8 GHZ...
laurabobwo 1 month ago
@laurabobwo I told you, learn to read. It's architecture is slower. It doesn't forcefully reclaim ram, ect. When was the last time you used window, Windows 98 First Edition? Windows crashes VERY rarely. Before you tell me Macs don't get viruses, They do. and most mac users are so stupid, that they can't clean it up, unlike the most basic windows user. Mac makes up for crappy software with better hardware, and making things look better. If you polish crap, you just get polished crap.
omnivir 1 month ago
@omnivir Wtf have you been smoking? Windows crashes ALL THE TIME. And not just the OS, the applications. If counter strike crashes, and it will, You have to reboot your computer. No matter what. If any full screen application crashes, same thing. Windows: 98% of the viruses on the internet. Mac OS X: 1% All Linux distros: 1%
Put one free antivirus scanner on a Mac, and you will never have a problem. And besides, if Mac sucks so bad, then Windows does too, because its just a copy of Mac.
laurabobwo 1 month ago
@laurabobwo You're using CS crashing as an example in 2011?
Get over it.
SpeedoJoe 1 month ago 16
@SpeedoJoe I was using CS as an example of a full screen application. I know its old. But its still awesome.
laurabobwo 1 month ago
@laurabobwo You do realize your example was based on a game that they had to be compatible for two systems, 98, and NT. 98 was MS DOS based. and NT(i.e., XP) uses two different file systems for starters. And one lone example only proves what I've been saying for years. Valve is a crappy company. If you could give a list of 5 games that did that in the last five years, I'd be grateful.
omnivir 1 month ago
@omnivir TF2, Left 4 Dead, GTA IV, and Star Wars Empire at War. Valve is not a crappy company. Only Steam is crappy. :D
laurabobwo 1 month ago
@laurabobwo I'm just going to point out the obvious; poorly written software isn't the fault of the OS. Never played GTA, Never had any issue with the others though. I could easily in 5 minutes write a bit of software that could crash all the time. That's the OS' Fault? They tend to just port games from 360, or PS3, and don't integrate it into windows correctly.
Oh, So they did finally reclaim the memory? It took how long? Me, I'd be wondering what else apple forgot to include.
omnivir 1 month ago
@omnivir Leopard came out in 2007... >.> And it is the OS's fault, that when a full screen application crashes, for example FSX, which is made by Microsoft, you have to reboot every time because you can't see anything except for what the application looked like the second it crashed.
laurabobwo 1 month ago
@laurabobwo Mac has been around sense the 80s, and it took them 20+ years to do something basic? So, if I write something that crashes, macs every time it boots up, it's macs fault? Not all Windows crashes as much as you claim. You make it sound that IT WILL ALWAYS. It's rare. Most of the time most things crash, you can restart the application. I've had times where windows were more stable than linux.
omnivir 1 month ago
@omnivir It isn't rare for Windows to crash. And like I said before, If Mac sucks so badly, then Windows does too, because every time Apple comes out with something new, it's immediately ripped off by Microsoft. You can't restart the application if its full screen. If its full screen, you're screwed. And the only time when Windows is more stable than Linux or Mac, is when you're not doing anything and its sitting at the desktop.
laurabobwo 1 month ago
@laurabobwo When was the last time you had windows crash? Rarely is there a time you can't get to the task manager if you know what you're doing. You talk like Apple made everything from the ground up. They just put ideas together. You know the two finger touch interface. It was made my Microsoft in the 90s. It sounds like you haven't looked at windows sense 98. It has improved A LOT. I've had more than one distro crash in the way you're talking about windows, just a few months ago.
omnivir 1 month ago
@omnivir You can't see my situation. Every time a full screen application crashes, it stays on that screen with just the mouse. If you press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, the little hour glass comes up, and then nothing. You can't see anything except for what the application looked like when it crashed. Microsoft didn't make the two finger touch interface. It was made by a company called Finger Works. Apple bought that company, and improved there tech and used it. 98? I have Windows 7 Ultimate.

@laurabobwo One: you say all of the time; yet you only list one example.
Two: look up "Rouge Software"
Three: if mac was as good as you think there would be more 5-9% of computer users out there.
Four: That was one example, but it's easier to do something like that on mac; because the OS doesn't forcefully reclaim the memory. E.g.,
double * foo = new double[5000]
If they forget to delete it, it just hangs around.
The reason Mac don't get any viruses written, is; it's a waste of time.
omnivir 1 month ago
@omnivir Macs do reclaim the memory, Tiger and below doesn't, but Leopard and above does.
laurabobwo 1 month ago

Saying a mac is good at games, cmon, dont sink so low, there are many games that aren't supported on mac (Wine, parallels, bootcamp just prove that macs have to rely on windows being able to run games and other software) .
skyangelnaruto 3 weeks ago
@skyangelnaruto If you install Wine on Macs, it makes Windows programs run natively. After that, no problems.
laurabobwo 3 weeks ago
@laurabobwo Yeah I know but what makes it work is not a function of a Mac but an additional program that was not made by Apple. That means that Macs have serious compatibility issue and they need to be fixed unlike PC which supports everything, notampering invloved. It like this, humans can fly but only with the help of machines which makes birds superior since they can fly naturally.
skyangelnaruto 3 weeks ago
@skyangelnaruto Actually, PCs don't support everything. They don't support Mac programs or Linux programs and no tampering can make you support them.
laurabobwo 3 weeks ago
@laurabobwo They're called Linux and Mac programs for a reason, they are only made for Linux and Macs. Anyways, Windows has waaay more to offer it's just unecessary to come look for programs on the OSX or Linux platform. And the only thing I would think of that really needs to be supported by all OS's is games, not programs, and all major ''good'' games are availible for Windows.
skyangelnaruto 3 weeks ago
@skyangelnaru Yeah, but all the Windows games can be played on Mac or Linux with Wine, and there are some Mac and Linux games that aren't on Windows, and you can't play them on Windows no matter what.
laurabobwo 3 weeks ago
@laurabobwo
LOL All games are compatible with WINE? Would be nice but will most likely never ever happen.
For Linux games under Windows -> Use a VM to run linux in a window
NasenbaerYT 3 weeks ago
@NasenbaerYT Give or take a few games that use DX 10. And VM's are slow as shit. Anything 3D is laggy as hell.
laurabobwo 3 weeks ago
@laurabobwo
NasenbaerYT 3 weeks ago
@NasenbaerYT Its never perfect. VM's aren't perfect either. Even with new hardware VM's chew up your memory and freeze up your computer. Pretty well every game out there needs 3D HW support. And there's also WineBottler, WineSkin, and Crossover, which works pretty well seamlessly.
laurabobwo 3 weeks ago
@laurabobwo
