Peter Lynch committed a crime by destroying that flag. Yes, it was being flown incorrectly. Yes, it should have been flown with an American flag above it. However, instead of ripping it down and destroying it, the proper course of action would have been to notify the university and inform them about the mistake.
With that said, I do think the sentence was a bit harsh. There was no need for probation; fining him and having him replace the destroyed property would have been more than sufficient.

Peter Lynch committed a crime by destroying that flag. Yes, it was being flown incorrectly. Yes, it should have been flown with an American flag above it. However, instead of ripping it down and destroying it, the proper course of action would have been to notify the university and inform them about the mistake.
With that said, I do think the sentence was a bit harsh. There was no need for probation; fining him and having him replace the destroyed property would have been more than sufficient.

The reason this state, Calif, which i live in, is broke is because of mexican / central american / south american illegal aliens. Our prisons are jammed fulll of them. They feed off our taxes. they do not pay taxes themselves. They might pay sales tax, big deal. And if they do pay fed / state taxes with a social security card, it is a stolen card. ID theft. If it is on my property and If I want the Japan flag higher then the American Flag, I can do it on my property only. I can't do this to other peoples property, even if it was a national holiday. Porperty is property and American pride has nothing to do with the law. This is a free country where any owner of their property can post what ever they want. How would the court react if that man killed another man, just because he was the victim had a Mexican flag on his back during the 4th of July?

The part you are quoting refers to prominence, not height. It is stating that a foreign flag cannot be flown equal to an American one. The very same section states that foreign flags may be flown on the same level.
