  • Does anyone know what sax the solo is played on? Alto or tenor?

  • @Avatar1178

    alto...always...

  • @jkgeiger1 It's tenor. You can tell by the sound, and look at the neck of it in the video.

  • @Avatar1178 Tenor. Clarence is on Tenor for most songs

  • I love this song...one of his greatest (out of a helluva lot).

  • @DirkStryker84 Sorry to hear about your Mum......but she must have been Coooool

This song sounds as good today as it did when I first heard it in 1975. It still makes me cry when the "Girl shuts out the bedroom light" .... Been there.. Jenny where are you?

  • @DirkStryker84 Sorry to hear about your Mum.... but she must have been sooo cool

This song sounds as good now, as it did in 1975 when I first heard it... it still makes me cry when the girl "shuts out the bedroom light" Been there........

  • @MusicFiend2310 yeah they are a great band that kinda sound like bruce mixed with the ramones if you ask me.

  • This was my mom's favorite. She died back in January, and nothing reminds me of her more than listening to the last lines of this song.

  • @DirkStryker84 thats music

  • i luvv u brucce

  • steve vanzant look now he owens the BADA BING lol

  • Artists like Bruce will be remembered for what he's done in his most creative period like Dylan, Stones, Zep etc. Very few are in that category, so stop wasting time talking about what he used to do, and listen to enjoy not criticize. He's earned it.

  • Go Clarence!

  • Timeless music sung and played by the greatest musical artist and band ever. Simply lyrical music that I for one will never be beaten. It is music for all and with powerful story lines. Keep going Bruce and the E Street Band and we will keep following.

  • E-street were underrated as musicians, especially Roy on the keys

  • to bad Suki wasn't at this show to play the awesome violin intro.

  • I think that there is no comparison between then and now. His musical quality was much greater than anyone sing right now. He went straight down hill only after he did his "Born In The USA" Tour with the song "Dancing In The Dark". But The Boss Still Rocks! Thanks for the talent, Bruce.

  • @blackassasinfan "He went straight downhill after he did his 'Born in the USA' tour". I'm sorry, you must not have heard anything from his New York concert in 2001, and anything on his "The Rising" tour.

  • Nice wino hat Bruce. XD

Great song, I especially love the piano work.

  • they could make a movie out of this song

  • bruce is the boss, nobody better. EVER

  • Damn! what a great song

  • i'm 21 and bruce is my second fav artist of all time behind KISS and this is my fav bruce song

  • It's ashamed that his political views suck, but he used to be one of the best.

  • @peterkastanis

Yeah I know what you mean man. Hate when artists start getting political.

  • where can i get a hat like that... that hat is like hobo awesome.

  • What an amazing song...so epic and journeyful...only Springsteen could right such a song

  • Aaahh! This is pure magic. 0.33 - 0.49 is awesome!

  • A true legend.

  • When I was 18, I saw this tour twice. Once in Houston in Sept '75 and then again at Auburn in May of '76. The first show I didn't know what to expect. By the end of the night I was a lifelong fan. Some of the best rock and roll shows I ever saw (and I saw a LOT!) were Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

  • Best concert ever?

  • @Mikeyski4 No joke, it just might be.

  • @ajdc88 This song is Spiritual!

  • A very good song personally i love old rock the generation now dosent have music writers like these anymore, its all about the money now not music making passion.

  • i own this dvd and wheels for wings!

  • TOM WAITS!

  • I absolutely love this song.

  • bruce is BOSS

  • i'm 18 @cmsule! time to teach our generation about good music

  • So, what makes Bruce Springsteen epic? A lot of people REALLY like him, but I don't see the appeal. I don't dislike him or anything, but I don't understand why he is considered so great by so many. Could someone explain to me what makes Bruce Springsteen so great? I'm not down on you that do like him; I'm honestly curious. Maybe there's a piece of the puzzle that I'm missing, and you could help put it in place.

  • 100% effort is always enjoyed. anytime a human being puts everything they have into a particular gift they have been given it fossters respect and admiration. I have seen Springstenn in concert and it went on for over 3 hours. Power packed, emotion being worn on his sleeve. He is real and 100% that is why I think so many enjoy him.

  • @blindmagi

What makes Springsteen epic? Well the fact that he's easily the most prolific songwriter of all time might help. The fact that "Born To Run" saved Rock 'n' Roll. Maybe the fact that he's been able to produce album after album through 4 decades that touch and inspire people all over the world.

It's actually pretty easy to see what makes Bruce epic. I guess the name "'blind'magi" is quite fitting.

  • @Evolve10 Wow, I apparently pissed a lot of people off with my previous comment. I'm not trying to be a prick or anything. Thanks for your input Uncleemph and Evolve. I think I'm probably still a Stones man, but I see what you mean by the emotion. Did "Born to Run" save rock? What was going on at the time that rock was in danger? There were quite a few prolific rockers in 74...

  • Are you retarded?

  • @laffytaffy666 Glad to see Springsteen fans are so accepting of others and enjoy explaining their ideology--sorry, that's not fair. I'll give Springsteen fans the benefit of the doubt and assume you're just an asshole.

  • Bruce was something special this was when artists like the stones were faltering a little (black and blue is an example) disco was beginning to grow in popularity He had this mix of charisma and a great talent to write a song and surround himself with excellent musicians he was there not to save rock but to keep it from becoming stale Every few years an artist has to come around to shake things up a bit and keep things fresh Elvis in the 50s, the Beatles in the 60s, zeppelin in the early 70s.

  • @SgtPep5150 That makes a lot of sense. I guess after thinking about it, a lot of artists' styles were influenced by Bruce. His attempt to keep rock from getting stale gave us quite a few new bands and artists, right? I never really thought of him as a pioneer like that, but what you say makes sense. Thanks.

  • @SgtPep5150 Some people say he saved us from disco. If it wasn't for Bruce rock music may have gone away.

  • @SFD230 i couldn't agree more with you

  • @blindmagi I had the same opinin of bruce till my girlfriend got tickets in 1982 or so to a springsteen concert and after watching him live it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to ..My opinion changed in one evening dramaticly ...For those who say the kyrics or his song writing ability .. You can tell when he's singing a Tom Waits song

  • @zwreckless1 Cool. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing him in concert. I had the same kind of experience with Def Leppard, of all bands. They were playing with Styx and Foreigner (who I originally went to see) but Def Leppard was by far the most power packed. There's definitely something about seeing a band live that changes perspective.

  • @blindmagi Do you really think seeing a band live is different?

  • @texaspilcher Yeah, I think so. The music is completely unfiltered through other media, and you actually get to see the energy that the band is putting into the performance. Personality bleeds through that you wouldn't get by listening to the radio, and the performances are often just as visual as they are aural. Once you experience all of that, the band takes kind of a sentimental place in your thoughts. At least that's what I think.

  • @blindmagi Musical taste is personal. Springsteen is epic because he has been around close to 40 years and still is able to draw huge audiences. You won't see him become an "oldies" act. Same thing for The Who, The Eagles and The Stones. The difference between these 4 (and maybe a few--very few) others is that they write great lyrics (Springsteen) and great Music (Springsteen and the others).

  • But, being so blessed to see the REAL band recently and have them play this whole album this particular night and get to the finale, Jungleland, bringing all that back to him, and then convey that to me... That is fucking cool!! Memories and Nostalgia set in.. Thanks Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band for that!! : )

  • Last night, my ex bf, & good friend still, reminded me that 25ish years ago, we shared an amazing, never ending kiss during the sax solo of this song from a BS cover band on a certain night. I remember that night, but many years later, didn't remember that exact moment as he did.. (Yes, I know I suck!)

  • oh my god ....saxo, i love it!

  • Masterpiece.

  • So epic, I think 200 of these views are myself.

  • I own this DVD!!!!!!!!

  • So do I. Isn't it great!

  • Every Verse is classic. "They end up wounded, not even dead." you can't beat that.

  • When i'm 16 i'm just going to get my car and drive to Bruce, it would be awesome to meet him + I would ask him if he still had his ol' hat of his. :D

  • Bruce did the same thing to Elvis. He hopped the fence at Graceland. Security politely escorted him back to the street. As I understand, Elvis was on tour, and not even home.

  • yep, gotta love the- ' cool cat in the hat")

  • @hex00002 By the time you get your car,They will not let you drive anymore! I am still looking for my Charger!

  • hell yea man. i'm 18, its nice to see another person from my generation that doesn't just listen to crap.

  • Same!

  • i admit that i don't hate the music of today but i only like very little of it...I prefer Bruce over anything else any day...the dude's my idol

  • @cmsule 19 here, i started listening to bruces albums probably about a year ago. used to be into bob dylan real hard and only know born to run. it was after i dropped out of high school workin a shit job. after hearing bruces music it influenced me to really pick up my guitar and write some songs and get the band goin. it was darkness on the edge of town that made me realize you gotta go out there and catch your dreams before they die. thanks bruce. for everything

  • @cmsule Music now days has gone down the shitter. This is when it took talent and effort. And you could make something great. No stupid 10 second music makers that people autotune over. Oldies forever!

  • @TheUltimateAssassinn exactly i agree 1000% i call music today, todays garbage i hate it, bruce is the best nobody will ever be better than him, EVER!!

  • @cmsule

I'm 14 and almost everyone I know listen to that stuff...

    The sad reality of today.

  • @cmsule My sentiments exactly! :)

  • @cmsule im 16 dude i totally agree with you, springsteen and the e street band are better than anything around today, although, go to say, they get better as they age...

  • @cmsule YES, 19/20 year old Springsteen fans for the win!!!!!!

  • @cmsule good on you, there are still singer/song writers out there. you have to dig friend

  • This is a great version, whoa he's young)

    Thanks for this treat glammer...!

  • he lives in my town

  • Timeless, lessons learned on the street.American muscle from days of steel rules our dreams!!!!!!!!

  • I wanna go back!!!!!!!

  • No problem - as long as you take me with you ! !

  • This whole concert is unbelievable. Everyone needs to get the DVD and watch the whole thing. Just amazing.

  • True that... i've watched it about 100 times. Many with friends who aren't Springsteen fans and they loved it!

  • @csspringsteenwow Which dvd is it pal?

    I'll get it .

  • best lyrics ever !!!!!!!!

  • Holy crap........

  • my favorite song of all time. this song could have been written by g-d himself. the sax solo is superb and the last few verses are so simple yet so thoughtful and true.

  • Can it get any better than this?

  • No it can't.

  • This was his first concert overseas :) After the concert, he thought he did bad and once he saw it all on film he realized he was awesome. (My uncle has been to his house)

  • Great Moment Number #3 of Rock & Roll's 10 Greatest Moments Ever.

  • Best version of this song..Stevie shreds this whole album

  • springsteen looked awesome when he was young

  • Is this Steven on guitar?

  • You can not deny 30 years of perfect connection with what Americans NEED

  • Bruce always has the best concerts I love the stories he tells up on stage it is by far the most amazing mixture of fun and family I've ever seen

  • e' come uno dei tuoi abbracci

  • Hopefully they're girls.

  • plus i would be acting the same way listening to that sax solo, it captures me and im not even their

  • ha ha i think weed and alcohol might have something to do with it, it was 1975

  • fuckin love this guy

  • A great song and a great performance that'll just leave you in awe.

  • wow, what a change....he was so skinny, scrawny back then. I'm used to seeing a confident animated Springsteen, this younger version of himself looks withdrawn and barely moving. love the song and vocals though.

  • @breeze321 , I love Bruce and had seen him perform well over 100 times since that 1st time in 1974, and in all honesty nothing ever has matched those early shows. The reason he was not moving around much on stage, is because the stage was so much smaller then, notice the close quarters of the band. The venues back then were so much smaller, and the energy was over powering.

  • amen brother he used play cleveland all the time in the 70;s great times great music

  • Stunning Song. Even better performance.

  • @grimsbydocks YOU ARE SO RIGHT grimsby. they are absolutely stunning. as much as i feel born to run is lauded as a classic record I feel that Jungleland is one of the greatest songs of all time. truly stunning and yes the lyrics are otherwordly. springsteen is truly an american treasure. whats even crazier to realize how many other amazing songs he has too!

  • Oh, he's a guy- yes, he's still a young guy- younger than you and I will ever be.

  • thank you so much for ever posting this video dude. Jungleland is a rare song is every aspect of the word. And bruce is like red wine...he just keeps getting better.. it's amazing to see how he has grown from the boy from this show to the man he is now..and he still sings with the same feeling, but even better...ok , he lost some rough edges..but he replaced it with a feeling of knowledge somehow..

  • bruce composed it all. he wrote every note ,every word.just watch him feel it all!! he moves us with him his vocals his music his comand of every performance to this day!!! long live bruce................................................

  • Shivers at 1.40... Background music at "From the Churches is fricking awsome! Def playing this on piano as next song;) already tried Thunder Road and this one is tougher to crack... I agree with chanter2... The E street Band is the ones who made his songs so incredible... for me especially The Professors piano playing! Never fails at giving me shivers;) cheers

  • First time in London and they didn't know what to expect. They had been hyped being on the cover of Time and Newsweek. But they won over the at first skeptical English crowd with one hell of a performance at the Hammersmith. The rest of Europe would come later. Awesome then and still awesome now. The E Street Band needs to be inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame.

  • @xjerseyboy55

It's a shame the hall of fame only inducted Bruce on the technicality they're called Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band...

To me it's simply The E street Band

  • Wasn't the E-Street band inducted along with Bruce?

Anyway, the RnRHOF will remain a joke while pioneering groups like Yes, the Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, and Genesis are left out in the cold.

  • Real emotions, true inspiration.

  • there are times in this song he sounds like the hold steady

  • the hold steady are the biggest bruce fans on the block man. thats where they get a lot of their sound from. listen to the piano on born to run and the piano on stuck between stations.

  • maybe the other way around

  • @cescisgod The Hold Steady couldn't walk steady when this was done.

But I love them for their reverence of this...

  • nice piano

  • Wow that sax solo is just Wow

  • Max is looking particularly Jewish here. Just look at that awesome beard!

  • This is the best Springsteen song, from the beginning of the song till the end.

  • simply one of the greatest songs ever written

  • perhaps the greatest song ever

  • that does not look like max on drums, yet he did this concert wth

  • Yeah you are right, he looks much different there but it is him.

  • What could possibly be better than this? Vintage Bruce, ah I'm taken back so many years, so much pain, so many memories. Lot of water under the bridge since this one was cut. Bruce, thank you for enriching my life. Clarence, best sax solo ever!

  • Hard to believe he is 60 now

  • Love the song.. and the hat too! :)

  • beautiful! Bruce's best song!!! or at least I believe so! If not, you gotta grant it's at the least plainly just pure brilliance!

  • I don't bother with that kind of nonsense.

I only let major radio conglomerates like ClearChannel dictate what I should listen to because they know best for me.

  • Happy 60th Bruce we love you

  • Thanks Simmons! Happy Birthday Boss!

  • simmons

  • Simmons!

  • The whole song gave me chills. I would do anything to have been there. Absolutely amazing.

  • just amazing..!

  • All I can say is that this is one of the most underrated Bruce songs of all time. Clarence's Sax Solo alone is epic enough to love it, but the vocals and piano are also beutiful

  • I've nevered wished for anything in my life. But I hope that I one day will run into Mr. Springsteen and have a nice chat with him. People I know have met him and had a few beers with him. Im still wishing...

  • I am one of those people. He likes to go to bars and retaurants in and around the Jersey shore when he is not touring. Met him several times in Red Bank N.J. and Seabright. Nicest guy in the friggin world. No lie..

  • BRING BACK THE GOOFY HAT LOOK!!

  • A brilliant performance never to be matched .I watched him as a youngster back East and will continue to be a fan.HBUGW could have not said it better. He earned his reputation as the greatest performer in history. That's why they call him the Boss. Love you Bruce and glammer thanks for the memories.

  • The two greatest performers of all time--Sinatra and Springsteen. One from Hoboken and one from down the shore.

  • Love Springsteen but also you can't beat a bit of Frank especially in his swinging days under Nelson Riddle. Genius

  • he looks like he's homeless

  • This music gives me the unremitting feeling that music today just CAN'T compare. Sure it can be duplicated, but never with as much feeling and Life that Sprinsteen has put forth. I'm 16 years old and no matter how hard I try, I cannot find such emotion on mainstream radio and t.v. At least we have this to look back to.
