Independence day and Men In Black are giant product placements for Scientology. He kills aliens in both of those movies. Jada Pinkett Smith is killing robots in the Matrix. Then Will is killing robots in this movie. Is that the ultimate secret of scientology? That it's not alien ghosts that inhabit our whole track, but rather, they are really ROBOTS!!!!
Thank you and I'm sorry, my questions seemed a bit presumptuous. Although, I debated as wether or not to call you a "fucker" so I'm glad I held some doubt about your intentions.
do you consider the "converse all-stars vintage 2004" to add to the overall futurism of this movie? i don't think it makes it more realistic in any way, it actually simplifies the future into being some kind of weird futureworld based on our current world, with a few technological advancements. that could be considered to be mere lack of imagination.
Well, thats a good question.. For the conscious viewer product placement is annoying at most.. For the unconscious viewer the trademarks and logos is imprinted into the mind of these, children are the best example.. They get accustomed to these corporations and start to want their products for reasons they can't explain.
It's not so much a problem with product placement as it is a problem with megacorporations and commercialism in general.. thats what i think.
product placement in movies are revelutionary. not only does the producer get paid more for advritising a company's product, but it makes the movie more realistic, and helps the viewer understand the timescale.
well, each to his own, but personally i do not agree.. when facing the problems of modern day corporations i just can't make myself see product placement as something revolutionary. actually one could deem it to be the exact opposite
Product placement=money being paid to the film which leads to a bigger budget and ends up to a great film(considering it have a good script/acting etc)
I loved this movie, however the product placement didn't annoy me at all because it was not too "OMG LOOK AT THIS" except the shoes which were quiet overdone.
But the rest was okay and added to the atmosphere I think instead of being in a total "strange" world.
very nice man. Fun fact: the book this 'movie' (ad) is based on is actually a philosophical series of short stories that deal with the idea of robots having souls. There is no Will Smith, no evil takeover, no matrix kung-fu and there sure as hell is no converse all-star shoes.
I have to say it ruined the entire film for me. I already paid $8 to sit in a theater, watch 15 min of commercials b4 the movie, and then watch one loooooooooooooooooooong commercial that was the "movie".
boy would issac asimov be proud to know that his magnum opus has been brought to cinema screens featuring will smith regarding converse all-stars as "a thing of beauty."

was a good movie for product placement (as user said below). I reckon futuristic movies need product placement to make it more realistic

You forgot the blatant USR product placement. I swaer, it's almost as if USR paid to have the whole movie about their company.

I personally don't have a huge problem with it, as long as it's done tastefully without detracting from the integrity of the movie.

This was a good movie to do a product placement project on, (kudos to Digilsd)

Indeed, it was the screenplay that was really f'ed up.
