thanks jeff. It's the truth. People forget that behind Kanye and Jay's music (along with others) are YEARS and YEARS of grinding. The song that first got Kanye recognized by his own admission wasn't even the song he wanted to push, and you can follow Jay's career from the hood on up since the 90s. Mo Def is a really unique, creative, artist. His music is really diverse, he changes it up on every track. I really like how he brings in a socio-political message into a lot of his music. Agree with all your points. I personally like it because it makes me stop and think-- and that's what true hip hop is all about. This song in particular sets a mood for reflection; do we ever play into the fake bonanza?
