I attempted the edge glitch in the same place / level as you, only to find that the map looked somewhat different outside. I was able to get out of the map, and place portals using the peek-a-portal method, however as the map appears to have been changed.

Could it be possible valve has accepted that the edge glitch cannot be fixed, however they have edited the outside of the maps to make it un-useful?

@ricopicouk No. Nothing is different. I just loaded the save from this video. Nothing is changed at all. I was able to redo what I did in this video with ease.

The reason why Peak a Portal works, is the same reason why the end of Portal 2 is unrealistic: If a Portal has got enough travel time to do a Peak a Portal, it can't be fast enough to arrive the moon in a second.

Hey, I just watched all your portal videos, and now I am trying some of the glitches you show, specifically this edge/save glitch. I just started today, but no matter what I do, I can't get it to work. I get stuck in the edge and everything, and Chell appears above the orange portal there, covered in red light. When I quick save and load, Chell is still there. I shoot downwards, just like you did, but the portal appears in front of me.

Was this glitch fixed, or am I just an idiot?

Hey, were you able to do chamber 16 advanced with only 2 portals?

I was thinking maybe you could use an edge glitch or a physics deformation (like your chamber 13 run) but I don't really know.

I tried a lot of methods but there isn't a lot I can do. I did find out that a portal can be places low enough on the opening door that you can edge glitch through the bottom, though. (again, like 13)

Edge glitching is not the best solution in most cases for a low portals run.

I've already got gold that one, but you can't do that in the advanced chamber because the first turret blocks your path. It's one of the only 3 silver medals I have left, all from advanced challenges.

Oh, and I'm on the Still Alive version on the xbox. When they gave the requirements for the gold medals on all of the advanced stages they didn't update them from the originals. So 16 advanced still requires the same amount of portals, time, and footsteps for gold as the normal stage. So some of them may be impossible.

But it would be cool to complete the "impossible" ones

@cycostinkoman When attempting a low-portal run, just try not using any portals as far as possible, obviously. You can just walk through the level, pick up/tip over all the turrets etc. without having to use a single portal. You only have to use them at the end to get through the grate.

I am talking about the advanced chamber. You can't knock over the turrets in the advanced version of the chamber because they are in cages. So you can't get past the first turret without using two portals.

Valve didn't update the requirements for gold on the advanced chambers on the Still Alive version of the game, so it says you need two portals for gold even though the advanced changes makes it impossible. But I wanted to do it anyway.

5:27 is crazy hard! I've only managed to do it once. Then once I was coming out of the portal above the elevator shaft, I got stuck in nothingness. I couldn't do the 5:27 part again because that lag time between shooting and creating a portal is almost non-existent. I would say it IS non-existent if I hadn't succeeded once.

This is interesting because these "edge glitches" in the game are similar to a real world phenomenon that we are studying at CERN.

For example, few people outside the high-energy physics community realize that if you fall against a wall in which five graviton terminus points intersect, you will pass into the 8th dimension. It can be quite dangerous.

They made a Twilight Zone episode about it, but most people assume that the show's writers came up with it. Same with Buckaroo Banzai.

So I recorded some video, but when I finally managed to transmute back to our dimensional space, I was frustrated to discover that my cell phone had been turned inside-out at the molecular level. So all the video was lost.

Actually, mine is the "old school" version. It's an old joke that certainly pre-dates Chapstick.

That doesn't make sense even for a bad joke. Even as you tried to tell it, you could not make it work logically and said "or whatever it doesn't matter."

@gillianorley well i meant to delete that comment, but what i mean by "or whatever" is that the price doesn't matter i know the punch line its a dry humor pun, it didnt necessarily need to be chap stick but the premise is that bill both refers to his tab or his "lips" its a pun, and putting beer on you bill doesn't work as well as something that you put on your lips does, the comment i typed was meant to be deleted because i wrote it fast and wasn't really thinking when i did.

Anyway, I guess my real point is that the "put the beer on my bill" is still a valid version of the joke and certainly the original version. The more hokey and old-fashioned it is the better for the purpose of my original reply to the guy who implied that I was trolling rather than joking.
