for that nosedive flaw... if you go into the VNAV page on the fmc you can select DES NOW, i normally do it 10nm before the td and it decends at vs1000 until it gets back on the VNAV path
You can also do it by selecting a lower MCP altitude and pushing the altitude selector knob. This accomplishes the same thing, but is seldom done in real life.
Hi jimfwh,I have a question for you& if you could help me that'd be great.
When I make an autoland with 777,the aircraft is always wobbling, moving up&down on short final;and after touchdown(A/P still connected)the aircraft "zigzag" doen't stay lined up with runway,I must disconect the A/Pstraight aft Tdown, to control the aircraft.I see that you don't disconnect the A/P & A/T until the touchdown could you explain me how does it work?? many thanks good vid.
The real 777 will use the localizer to steer on the centerline after landing but not the PSS777 so you have to disengage the AP and take over after touchdown (pilots do this routinely in real life). The wobbling could be a flight dynamics issue. Download the 2 service packs from justflight and see if it solves the problem.
Sometimes after selecting the STAR, the route seems to take me into the localizer at a very high intercept angle (like over 100 degrees or so). If the landing runway was the opposite direction of your route (like above case), isn't it supposed to add a gentle 180 turn (like an arc) into the runway heading (looks like half a holding pattern or something)? How do I remedy the problem of it making a very sharp angle when approaching from other side of landing runway?
The STARs are runway specific. In the case of WMKK, If you're landing on runways 14L/R (in the opposite direction to this video) you should use KIDOT 3A/3B. Either of these STARs will take you to a 30 degree localizer intercept angle. This applies to other airports as well.
If your arrival takes you to a point near the airport but not to a runway or to the opposite end of the runway, simply break off, fly parallel to the runway (downwind), then turn base and final to the runway you want to land on (I'm assuming you're not using FS9 ATC or online ATC).
Ok, thanks! I basically just select the runway for landing, then I select one of available STARs for my selected runway. But I don't know why sometimes it gives me an over 100 degree intercept angle. I saw on R1door's landing in Osaka that the arrival route was like a traffic pattern (for landing opposite direction), does that just depend on the STAR? I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or not ;P
It depends on the STAR e.g. if you look at KIDOT 3A/3B you'll see that it's designed to be a traffic pattern arrival. Other STARS take you near the airport and you have to expect vectors from ATC to take you to the runway (many STARS in the US are like that).
In real life, the STARS stored in the FMC do include the missed approach track so after pushing TO/GA, select LNAV and VNAV to fly the missed app portion. For the PSS it's not the case so you'll have to manually add it in according to the approach chart.
1. Which STAR to use for WSSS if I came from GUPTA KASRI via A457 to VJR? And which STAR to use if I came from ANSOM LATUK DAMAL via R325 to VJR? Coz I can't find any entries for these routes in any STARs, and the routing tool is routing me through these routes.
2. If there's no suitable STARs, what is the actual waypoints/airways for WMKK to WSSS used in real life? And also from the west to WSSS (e.g. Zurich, Milan, Paris, etc)?
Hey, awesome demonstration! PSS's autoland seems a bit rough--there was hardly any flare and 30, 20, 10 came quickly right after one another. Does the PSS autopilot track the centerline? I think I heard it doesn't.
And there's also some bug with the autobrakes as they don't disarm when you apply manual brakes.
Yup, the PSS autoland literally plants the aircraft down-any passengers in it will probably think we got shot down :) The autoland doesn't track the centrline so it's best to disengage AP asap after touchdown, and yes, autobrakes have to be manually disarmed-another flaw of the PSS.
I could try using Vref instead of Vref+5 which will keep the nose a bit higher on approach with the slower speed. Maybe that'll help the lack of flare.
but how do you ils land i need a tutorial
pilot9159 7 months ago
sounded like a hard landing

@tiburcioman
It was. Unfortunately the autoland on the PSS777 has been programmed to plant the aircraft firmly on the runway, unlike in real life.

@tprjof: Use FS Recorder. It allows you to create custom views.

hey man,how do i set the PSS 777 to an ILS approach? it is the only thing that i don't know in this plane. can you offer me a Help?
natofsx8 1 year ago
It's in the tutorial video. Select the ILS in the NAV RAD CDU page, then arm APP on the MCP.

question : does this pss 777 works out for FSX ?
coz I can only find links related to FS 2004 !
Thank you !

Hi jimfwh,
Another question for you ;P:
What do you do for a missed approach?
So you hit TOGA, pull up, etc, but is there a route to follow with LNAV? I never see one...
RixceU 2 years ago
In real life, the STARS stored in the FMC do include the missed approach track so after pushing TO/GA, select LNAV and VNAV to fly the missed app portion. For the PSS it's not the case so you'll have to manually add it in according to the approach chart.

Same with my PSS... sometimes I disengage A/P about 100 ft. to flare the T7 myself...

I've tried that before. Doesn't really make any difference. It still plants the aircraft down.
