  • Fives kisses total, three before Harrison uttered one word in his thank you speech. The chemistry between these two are amazing. Happy 104th birthday to a great actor and lady's man of the first order.

  • 0:34 julie looks fit to kill....

  • I look to Audrey and see similarities with Natalie Portman. She would be the right actress to play her in a movie.

  • I'm actually really glad that Rex Harrison won best actor. No disrespect to Peter Sellers because he was great in Dr. Strangelove. I have to say that I'm also happy that My Fair Lady won best picture. I guess it's just because I'm not a huge fan of Stanley Kubrick, even though I do think that "Strangelove" is his finest work.

  • Actually Julie looks quite happy. She had performed My Fair Lady with Rex Harrison on Broadway, so I guess she would be thrilled for her co-star. She was a classy lady, above these things, definitely.

  • I loved Rex Harrison as Professor Higgins. As great as Peter Sellers was in Dr. Strangelove, I'm happy that Rex Harrison won. Also, I'm glad that My Fair Lady won best picture. Just my opinion

  • Peter Sellers should have won

  • Although Audrey did not sing My Fair Lady, Julie Andrews should NOT have gotten an Oscar for her Mary Poppins role. I love both of them, but I don't think Andrews' performance in Mary Poppins was demanding enough to grant her an Oscar. She should have gotten an Oscar for one of her later, more developed roles such as Victor Victoria etc.

  • @Kata397533 Who do you think should have won that year then? Just asking as I'm curious. Not offending in any way.

  • @rheaisgreat audrey, Audrey, AUDREY !!!! :)

  • You know what I don't understand? The reason why they didn't want to let Julie Andrews play Eliza Doolittle is because she had little film experience. However, remember all the press that Miss Hepburn had with Roman Holiday? Why couldn't they take a chance again with Miss Andrews. She certainly had the talent!

    Oh and by the way... 1:53 1:57 2:06 2:23 2:56 = One lucky bastard.

  • @IncliningPizza but julie andrews won in this year as mary poppins right?

  • I love Julie Andrews' reactions to Audrey Hepburn, it's like "bitch, I'm the reason you were in that movie!" However, I give lots of credit to Rex Harrison for giving a nod to Julie in his speech.

  • thank u so much for uploding this

  • REX...A GENTLEMAN... AND AUDREY, ...A LADY! A PERFECT MEETING!!! I loved Rex in this film...He was absolut!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Peter Sellers was robbed

  • Ok, but in Dr. Strangelove Peter Sellers plays three characters, not that only one we see here.

  • Audrey was kind of...gross...for hanging onto him like that. One of the very few, if not only, tacky moments in her public life.

  • @Dragonfly10192002 kind of tacky...gross? i think maybe you are the only person EVER to dub Audrey Hepburn in that way. absolutely not. he was holding on to her. and after her snub for a nomination she proved what a gracious, classy lady she was by even being there.

  • @livuali I noted it was not in character for Audrey to be so sloppy. So...

Anyway, Audrey getting an oscar nom would have been ridiculous; it was a musical. Get real. She couldn't sing-HELLO!

The publicity over who would play Eliza, and the controversey of Audrey being cast over the SINGER who originated the role made Audrey's display all the more tacky when Rex won. The best actress nominees had yet to be announced; the possibility that Andrews would win should have kept her in check.

  • @Dragonfly10192002 I don't think it's Audrey. It looks to me as though she's trying to hand him the Oscar and he puts his arm around her and guides her to the stage, never letting go of her. After the speech, she attempts to step away from him, he stops, insisting that she goes first - so she steps to the other side of him to give him the spotlight. A very gracious move in my book!

  • How fitting that she was the one to present it to him.

  • What a sport Audrey was - her non-nomination was and still is one of the biggest snubs in history of the Oscars, but she was gracious enough to attend. Peter Sellers was victim of fate - STRANGELOVE was due to be released in December, 1963 which would have made him elegible for that year when he surely would have run Sidney Poiter close. However, the JFK assassination delayed the release of his movie and the buzz around it have died 12 months on.

  • @eggsarah Although Aubrey is a fine remarkable actress, I don't feel her role in "My Fair Lady" deserved an Oscar nomination.

  • Cut to Julie...awkward.

  • Yeah, I'm sure this role was much more difficult or compelling than Seller's multiple roles in Dr. Strangelove.

  • Rex Harrison did amazing job in My Fair Lady.

  • That had to be a very nervous experience for Rex Harrison. How to thank Julie and Audrey without offending either of them? He did very well, though I think Julie might have felt slighted because she was in the audience and not on stage. At least she got her own Oscar that night.

  • @jeffswim

Now I suddenly feel sad that Audrey didn't get a nomination.

  • Anthony Quinn or Peter Sellers should have won!!!
