Trestles is a one of a kind wonder, but the Toll Road will not effect it any way other than making it easier for people to find it. So what are you saving Trestles from?
You must be one of the guys paid off to support the toll road! If you've seen the computer generated images of the proposed toll road, you'll see that a monstrosity of a cloverleaf highway will go right through the pristine, beautiful beaches and state parks! Come on, get real!
You didn't even bother watching the video did you? You just saw the description then made a comment. Toll road = traffic. Traffic = pollution. Socal is already built out so having a road there obviously would lead to development. And by the way I'm an out of towner and even I can see how obvious the change would be.
I did watch the video. The problem with your statement that traffic equals pollution is that there is major traffic throughout the area. Sitting cars equals pollution. And the toll road is on the other side of an existing freeway. So that argument is not valid.
I stick by the fact that Trestles is a one of a kind amazing place, but the science doesn't show that anything will happen to trestles. I think the only thing that would change is that more people would have access to trestles.
EVERYONE on the planet has access to Trestles. This toll road is not about access to Trestles! LOL! Back when I lived in LA years ago I would drive to San O and Trestles. Go to Trestles and you'll see how many people there are from somewhere else.
True everybody has access to Trestles and coming from LA or Sand Diego is a quick trip on the 5fwy. The additional people that I see using the Toll Road to access trestles are from Riverside & the Inland Empire.
So, MartinMcintosh, are you saying that we should build the toll road just so people from Riverside can more easily get to Trestles? That's the weakest excuse for a tollroad I've heard yet!
That is not what I said at all. I think we should build it to relieve the the traffic on the 5 especially on the weekends. I think the science shows that Trestles will not be harmed. But I also think that folks coming from IE will now have an easier route to trestles with the toll road. I think that currently if folks come from IE they come down the 55 and stop in Newport or Huntington.
So I apologize that it sounded like a reason to build the road, I think it will be more of a side effect.

I know a lot of guys that surf Lowers that drive all the way from Riverside. And they don't want the toll road, either.
