  • i can't believe how snotty mahree was towards the family when she first met them!

  • 8:12 always bothered me when Piper picked up the card and gave Mahree that look that says, "You b*****, why don't you look like that black girl?" It's not Mahree's fault that she's white :/

  • 0.17 yeah thats right u gotta take off ur own seatbelt and open ur own door :)

  • JT! Wait...this isn't Degrassi.

  • ''I thought we ordered a real African''. Lmaooo

  • Lol chocolate or do you prefer vanilla wow that'd crazy

  • J.T!

  • just realized. didnt mahree say its america's winter when it's south africas summer? yet theres no snow. just thought id point that out...

  • @taynine Winter doesn't mean snow aha.

  • Awww Ryan Cooley was so small.

  • this scene was so funny!

  • id let my kid watch this movie in the future

  • why would she sprint upstairs and go into a room when she hasn't even been there before and how did the mom know which door to go to

  • When she walks into their house and they have the African music playing I always look away because of the awkwardness. :/

  • @Sc00pZzzzz same here lol this whole video is one big awkward moment

  • That's te kid from degrassi ( the white boy) JP or JD or something

  • @xXBiggie64Xx jt...lol

  • @xXBiggie64Xx His name was James Tiberius Yorke or JT for short.

  • wots wrong with white people and wots wrong with black people u shouldn't judge them just by there skin colour it's their personality that u should judge them from

  • @crystalheart200011 True but i mean well i would not b dat bombed i jus think dat mayb she felt lonely but u know every1 would feel da same way but its jus color theres no harm or foul!

  • "Or would you like Vanilla" lol!

  • People don't understand the racial tensions that exist still today in South Africa. My best friend is from the Kruger Park area and has told me some horror stories. Whites are targeted by blacks, blacks are targeted by whites. There is still a lot of crime and separation that exists in this country.

  • Wats so wrong wit color there all da same y does piper hate her so much cuz her of her race!

  • @Glogger98 i think piper just got very mad because mahree wasnt happy when she found out that piper and her family were black

  • 0:26 on the right it's it Yorke from degrassi he looks so young

  • "Or do you only like vanilla" Geez could she be more of a witch. The other girl is just as bad but she is from a completely different country and had been sheltered. I can sort of understand where she is coming from.

  • OMG lol J.T from Degrassi

  • Or do you only like Vanilla? My class: OOOOH, bro she got bitched.

  • It's JT!!!!!!!

  • i never really got why she called home and then decicded to stay. was it because she didnt want to pass up to opertunity to see america? or did she decicde to have a change of heart? i hope i dont sound stupid but i was just wondering

  • @animewarrior08 She didn't want her dad to be right about her being kind of a brat and wanting to come home right away.

  • @redwolffclaw oh ok :)

  • @animewarrior08 Isn't it obvious? She called home to explain what happend and asking to come home and then she hears her father and brother making fun of her. So of course she doesn't want to let them know she does actually want to come home. That's a person's ego talking.

  • @Izzie17 i wasnt thinking at the time lol

  • Mahree's dad was ridiculous. At least say one positive thing.

  • Omg Senator Dellums you can't just ask people why their white!

  • There are so many moments between Ron and Roscoe that remind me of my parents lol!

  • A congressman who specialises in South African policy? Honestly, what were they expecting? I really don't think the South African government at this time would even dream of sending a black student abroad.

  • That kid IS J.T from degrassi -4 he's sooo young !!

  • OMG I swear that kid looks like JT from degrassi. O_O

  • What's that song at 6:03 that they're listen to while playing dominoes? I freakin love the way that sounds, but I have no idea what it is.

  • J.T from Degrassi!!(:

  • wow mahree's characterdid a great job for an south african because she's from america ( not trying to offend anyone i really love both countries well because i come from one and i want to see the other one)

  • "Did you see how she acted when she found out who we were?" The same way you're acting, except you have your family and you're not in a foreign country. I like the story itself and that they gain understanding the end, but they both annoy me so much in the beginning.

  • @kaya119 Yeah, but you have to remember that Piper's character is only a teenager, and she was really looking forward to it. You saw how she was relentless in her begging for the opportunity to have an exchange student in the first place. Weeks, or even months, had probably passed by the time they actually met Mahree. Piper had all that time to get excited, and then she was really let down. They went to a lot of trouble to make Mahree's stay a good one. It had to be a big letdown.

  • @kaya119 (Continued) Not excusing Mahree or Piper's behavior, because they both stink. I can just imagine how upset Piper must have been- both upset at the situation and angry at being treated like a slave. With her social awareness, Piper knew enough to be very angry at Mahree for her beliefs. Also, Mahree has the nerve to lock herself in Piper's room.

  • @kaya119 (Continued- the end) I also see how Mahree needed to be comforted, especially being in a foreign country with only strangers. Afterall, it's not her fault that she is afraid of the Dellums family- it's her country's fault. I feel a sense of relief when Mahree asks to stay, and Roscoe says "Well, of course it's okay." She says it in such a sweet, loving way. Roscoe needed to be nice and comforting in this movie to balance out the awkwardness. What would Ron Dellums do without her... :)

  • "I think a little sensitivity and maturity is what we need right now. . . "

    "A WHITE South-African?!"

  • "So if you're from Africa...why are you white?"

"Oh my God, Karen, you can't just ask people why they're white."

  • @jdub1920 AHAHAHAHAHA!

  • @jdub1920 LOLOLOLOL.

  • "Or maybe you only like vanilla".Oh yeah she understands that but doesnt get what Flora meant about the birds.

  • where is she REALLY?? lmao!!!

  • 6:00

  • I love how in the beginning they're talking about her like she isn't even there. xD That's so not right.

  • Why'd Everyone Freak Out When They Saw Her?

  • @iLoveTheBay93 They didn't really freak out, they were just shocked to see a white girl when they were all expecting a black girl

  • @chattergrl2012 Ohhhhhhh.

  • Is Shadia Simmons black and white or black and indian? I keep hearing both even though she looks black and white to me.

  • awwwwww JT from degrassiii his faceee looks the exact same

  • 61,000 people love DCOMs; 1 person still likes apartheid...

  • piper better stop talking to her mom like that

  • making a collect calls from someones phone. smh! that cost!

  • who runs up the stairs instead of out the door?

  • They actin like they didnt know black and white people lived in thhe world! UHG!

  • I'm upset they don't make movies on any type of childrens network is quite sad they don't touch on black history anymore and its ridiculous, every child in every home must know what blacks went through during this era.

  • @nickiissocute they need to make movies about native american history as well. and not that watered down, sugar coated high school textbook history that's only a few pages long. our REAL history. kids don't know anything these days. they need to be taught truth, not lies and deception.

  • @PotawatomiApiwa yes!!! thank you! they do need to make movies about us native americans! someone finally thought about it....

  • @Invaderzim2015 are you native?

  • @PotawatomiApiwa yes i am...

  • @Invaderzim2015 cool. me too.

  • @PotawatomiApiwa cool what tribe? nd where if i may ask

  • @Invaderzim2015 citizen potawatomi nation. in Pottawatomie County in Shawnee. what about you? if i may ask

  • @PotawatomiApiwa lakota sioux nation, from cheyenne river rez in south dakota

  • i hate how Disney doesn't touch on these type of subjects any more .

  • She ( Mahree ) is a little rude.

  • I hate how the blacks acted and if I was that little girl, I'd do the same thing.

  • @MsGracefulGirl oh yeah, i see that.

  • @MsGracefulGirl Shadia Simmons is mixed?

  • the father said "A WHITE south african"

so there can be a BLACK american but not a WHITE south african??

  • @SellyGomez1Fan1 Because the white people who are in south Africa at that time were really really horrible to the black people, and he knows it because he'd been working to help the black people NOT the white people. So finding out he is housing basically the people he is working against he freaked out.

  • @SellyGomez1Fan1 but americans arent originally white, black, asian, etc. They are Native Americans. Anyways, he knows there can be whit south africans, he just thinks they are all racist because of the apartheid.

  • the father said its only been 2 days? but she just got there?

  • @davordaveTV the flight probably takes a day. I live in Dubai, but I moved from Atlanta Georgia, the flight took 7 hours to get to Amsterdam, then 7 hours waiting at the airport, then another 7 hour flight to Dubai.

  • The mom is on point trying to put some maternal sense into everyones' heads...praise

  • favorite line in the whole movie not to be racist " You do drink chocolate donnt you or would you rather have vanilla" i mean she just got served

  • I think both of them are wrong and are showing racism at the start. Mahree WAS rude, but it's only the things that her parents and her country have taught her. Piper and her family was also very rude...they should have known that they had the possibility of getting a white student. If I was the congressman I would have appriciated the chance to have the views of the other side.

  • @lyam409 If you were a person of color, and someone was racist against you, I'm pretty sure you would be pissed off.

  • i always said this and will always remember this i'm sry for everything that ever happened to all races of people...but peple are people in my opinion good bad doesnt matter what color you are love knows no color true emotions friendship love at the end of the day is blind to color and people rebels the dutch or whoever should learn the fact that people are people you cant change that if God didnt want them here they wouldnt have been made so learn that people are people decided by God not you!

  • I showed this movie to a refugee friend of mine and she was so angry she just cried and cried. She lost her mother in the South African genocide.

They were never rich, always poverty-stricken farmers but then,

it's the poor and the weak who get brutally butchered there.

  • again, this is story is when the south african tribals decided to start moving towards independance from the dutch and english. alot of racism came from the govt themselves. those passes that are later talked about were the first major move of the dutch/english to try and dominate them. any questions message me. :)

  • Piper is being a jerk....I wouldnt talk to her either! HMPH!

  • what kind of asshole would dislike this

  • racism. the original south african are african not white.

  • The girl that gets adopted, is that Amy Bruckner. She looks like her. From Phil of the Future.

  • @iwanttobeajesusfreak no it's lindsay haun

  • @iwanttobeajesusfreak No it's not her, plus think about it..this movie was wayyy before Phil of hte Future, did you think she suddenly became younger as she went? It's Lindsay Haun.

  • oh hey JT Yourke.

  • What's amazing about this movie is that it shows all the problems of racism, and how it can go both ways. And how all of those problems and barriers can be overcome if people just give each other a chance. If only Disney was still making movies like this that taught kids valuable lessons.

  • LOL "I thought we ordered a real African?"

  • why are they so shocked that shes white? her brothers have a white friend....

  • i like that movie

  • Why are some white people offended by this movie? The racism is on both ends, not just Mahree's.

  • Comment removed

  • that lil white boy is the mascot that got shot on degrassi

  • @DavisMelly he was actually stabbed lol but yeah thats him

  • she's hadley from true blood.

  • "I thought we ordered a real african" LMFAO

  • @KewlStormy07 fuck you.. you racist

  • @fireking9934 Um. Hi there. I happen to be black myself. So yea...Keep your ignorance somewhere no one can see it :)

  • @KewlStormy07 your racist to whites..... ignorant idiot

  • @fireking9934 No...I'm prejudice against people who make YouTube channels just so they can go around saying stupid things to other people just to get a rise out of them. And if you actually WATCHED the video, you would have understood that I quoted one of the characters. Hence the quotation marks. And BTW I'm half white. So either way you swing it, you have no valid point. #pow.

  • that little boy is cute

    "Where is she?"

  • She said "you live here?" Like it was the projects or something.... LOL...

  • @Godserving247

I think she meant that she couldn't believer that black people could live in such a nice house.

  • I just realized that the boy who plays JT Yorke on degrassi is the little white boy haha

  • OMG! J.T. from Degrassi!!!!! <333

  • I love how Mahree swallows her pride when she is talking to her family

  • I wonder about what this movie woulda been like if it was the other way around and the American went to south Africa.

  • IT'S J.T!

  • @gdg93 Damn Yur Right

  • its funny how they knew exactly what room she went into

  • 1:30 (what mahree is thinking) "Niggas is wild!"

  • @www9308 That sh*t? Lol Thumbs up =) to you!

  • or do u only like vanilla lolzz

  • Personally, I think everyone is unknowingly a little racist. We can't help it, even if we know it is wrong. It's kind of like how people say "Don't judge a book by its cover" and we do so anyway. Especially when you take that metaphor literally. If it's a crappy looking book, I sure wouldn't read it. Anyway, I think the same happens when people meet other people. We make assumptions based on a person's race.

  • this movie was uploaded on michael jackson's birthday .. ~~

  • Movies like this and Tru Confessions show some REAL shit that kids SHOULD be watching. All the new Disney channel movies are superficial and shallow. Bring good messages back!!!

  • I knew Piper looked familiar! She played Corrin from Strange Days @ Blake Holsey High.

  • omg...its JT from Degrassi :)

  • @itsmeCyNtHiA1998 u noticed it too!!

  • @itsmeCyNtHiA1998 I KNOW!!!!! :)

  • mahree's probably like "OH MY GOD EVEN THE DOOR IS BLACK"

  • u live here? lmfao

  • the black father is so racist

  • lol. you do drink chocolate dont you? OR ONLY DO YOU LIKE VANILLA.lol!!!!

  • Damn you people are probably annoyed with me. But Piper's mom is pretty cool. She's the only one in the beginning who saw Mahrie's discomfort, but she was getting kind of pissed with being ignored by both Mahrie AND her family, dont cha think?xD

  • @hotcococup ur funny lol

  • One more comment lol. How old is Mahrie? Like 13-15 right? I doubt their in high school, but DAMN that girl has big breasts. And I'm a girl, so dont go around calling me a perv. so I know that the girl portraying Mahrie is probably like 15 or older.

  • And for all those who say Mahrie was rude to the family in the beginning, well think of where she came from? That is a HUGE culture shock. But I won't lie the whole ice cream ordeal was hilarious but it was still extremely rude of Piper, but hey, even though people say the fanily wasn't exactly nice to Mahrie, they still tried to make her comfortable, so they wren't bad hosts.

  • To comment on all of the white people that feel offended, and technically the blacks too, Both Mahrie AND the black family are kind of racist. So it's not just gearing towards the racism of Mahrie, because piper learns the error of her ways also. And I don't think that the family was really RACIST, other wise little JT wouldn't be in their house. They just knew about the apartheid in South Africa and assumed Mahrie was racist, so they kind of gave her the cold shoulder.

  • @hotcococup but Mahree was racist lol

  • "I thought we ordered a REAL African!" ROFL!!

  • I'm hispanic & i really, reallylove black peeps, infact most my hommies are black & most uff thee quys i've falled for in all my 12 yrs uf life have been black

  • AWWW the little white boy 1:46 (idk his name) is JT from degrassi! Omgahh I never knew that! :D

  • @tyetye44 ahh cool, aston from jls

  • @tyetye44 are you american??, you may not no who he is yet??

  • the kid at 3:12 is actually the cutest kid on the PLANET! like i just want to hug him!

  • I thought we ordered a REAL African!

    best line of the film!

  • "I thought we ordered a REAL African."

lol, I love that kid :P

  • is that the dude from degrassi

  • lol the drums they play in this scene which are "zulu" were the same ones that were senegalese in the first clip.

  • i am white and my girlfriend is black

  • I'm surprised those blacks didn't have a boiling kettle waiting for Mahree when she got home so they could use their voodoo mind tricks to convince her to jump in it and proceed to become dinner for the Dellums.

  • @KuttyKool Did you even watch the movie or did you just come to leave ignorrant comments. Voodoo has ties with Catholicism and it's not witch craft or the stereotypical stuff you see on tv.

  • @briarts It was a joke, you douche. I'm African-American myself and I know where "voodoo" has its roots. Why don't you take that politically correct dildo out of your ass and focus more on learning how to spell... "ignorrant"... come on now man!

  • @KuttyKool It doesn't seem like a joke when you post stupid comments on several of the video clips. I know how to spell "ignorant". Excuse me for being human and making a typo.

  • @briarts It's a little something called "irony" my friend, maybe after you look that up in the dictionary you can go back to your world where people can't have a little fun on Youtube... the last time I checked this entire site was mostly dominated by videos of people psyching out on ecstasy pills and dogs humping each other. This shit is not to be taken seriously. Go to the PBS website if you want that.

  • i see j.t from degrassi.
