today i saw some 2 to 3 foot long snakes in a shallow dirty pool of water and i want to catch it but i dont know if its venomous, it looked grayish but i didn't get a good look, can u help me?
a good look is a good place to start try taking a picture,,make a makeshift blind, use a green tablecloth or something to cover yourself , lie in wait in a good spot then check your photos for a positive I.D. from a guide book. Be familiar with all the types around that like water (most snakes will hunt and hide in water regardless) and those species that may overlap ranges due to climate change,, be careful and practice using a snake stick even if you have to make it. Be carefull obviously.
@MrCopperhead1 about a five. they get pretty crazy if you dont handle them properly on the first try. They have some anti-coagulant saliva that makes you bleed freely for awhile, maybe five or ten minutes, nothing too bad. relatively small teeth but watch those veins in your hands and arms to be safe. happy herpin
