First let me say: no, I am not paid to say these things. I still feel the same way and I am educated on the pros and cons of taking PremPro and I choose to take it because there are some good aspects for me. The people that responded to my post sound like they are against drug companies period. I wonder though if they give their kids that drug for ADD when some good parenting would work? Or if they take anything for stress/depression. Wouldn't be surprised. Drink some herbal tea people!
I have taken Prempro for many many years and I am very pleased. No breast cancer. The first doctor that prescribed it for me told me he hoped I would stay on it until I was 100. I am 66 years old. I tried to wean myself off it but only had problems. How can they be so sure Prempro caused breast cancer? Many women have it that did not take Prempro. Money hungry women wanting someone to sue is what I am seeing here.
@cwardretired How could you say that these women are money hungry after such strong evidence of the corruption and cover ups that this company has done? Just because you havent gotten breast cancer (may I respectfully add the word "yet" because you dont know what could happen in the future) doesnt mean that this drug doesnt cause breast cancer.
There are other avenues such as bioidentical HRT that makes more sense to take than horse urine.
@cwardretired Why would you need this drug until you are 100??? Both my mother and my aunt went through menopause, it wasn't THAT long, and they got through it with the usual stuff - hot flashes, etc, but it eventually stopped. You're 66, so he wanted you on it for over forty years? What on earth for? I bet he gets a cut from the pharmaceutical company for keeping a number of patients on that drug.
Wyeth also likes to pay writers to write positive articles about their drugs for medical journals. It's very sad how unethical companies can be. One of the many reasons I don't buy their products anymore. Not that it hurts them much, I only wish I could do more.
Wyeth was a despicable company that put profits before patients. Not only did they make a conscious decision to avoid conducting studies that would have established that their drugs caused cancer, they intentionally hid evidence and punished their own employees who suggested the proper studies. Wyeth was recently purchased by Pfizer who was punished with the largest criminal fine in history, amounting to over $2.3 billion dollars. Pfizer's CEO Jeff Kindler is an attorney. What does that say?

Wyeth Pharmaceuticals made money and women died. How could they possible compensate for that?
