Srsly, I just played Prime 3 and I'm like... OMG, this is definitely what I've been waiting for since I bought my Wii. My thoughts are really messed up here. Nintendo sold Rare, and giving Other M to Team Ninja really feels like Nintendo likes to bitch around with great third parties. @xXAngelxX9991 It upsets me that many studios are taking on the challenge of the Prime Trilogy did with FPS! Prime changed the concept that FPS can be more that just move to point A to point B, and shoot anything that moves. Prime had exploration, puzzle solving, and discovery. The one FPS that I could think of that came close was Bioshock with some of the puzzles, and discovering the plot when the player finds records.

after the controversial and mixed reception metroid other M received due to its (mis)handling of the game by team ninja, retro studios ought to create and produce the next metroid title. they did a great job with the prime trilogy and i have no doubt that should they make another metroid game, it will turn out to be brilliant.

This video was done last year... They were working on Donkey Kong Country Returns when this interview was done, because they have been working on that game since April of 2008. Look at 5:54. You can see a tiki totem pole. The Tikis are the enemies in the game. Just thought id' point that out... kinda' neat I guess.

HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS! 2D Metroid titles are definetily worth checking out, but for newcomer like you, I'd still recommend starting from more recent Prime series. Not exactly like Halo or CoD, but more like sci-fi themed action adventure from first person perspective. Exploring enviroments, scanning objects and finding armor/weapon upgrades is just as important part as fighting enemies. I'm huge fan of Halo, Bioshock, System Shock and Unreal but Prime series still one of my biggest favorites.
yeah I love Halo too... Is metroid prime similar to Zelda? I mean in the sense that you kind of have to solve puzzles in both games... Cuz I love Twilight Princess! Lol
The orginal idea behind the first Metroid on NES was to combine the platforming of Mario and the puzzles and combat of Zelda. That still applies today.
All of the metroid games are incredible. I cannot give a higher reccomendation to the Prime Trilogy on Wii. Beyond that, if you like the 3D ones, chances are you'll like the 2D ones. Get Metroid: Zero Mission and Metroid: Fusion for $5 each at Gamestop. You should also get Super Metroid off the Vitrtual console. Don't start with that though. I'd start with Prime and then Fusion honestly.
why go backwards? i'd start with zero mission, since it's the first, remade. and better! then fusion, then prime.since you can get link up benefits from fusion, such as the original NES metroid and fusion suits.
I'm bigger than life Zelda fan (the reason I play Nintendo games for most parts) but I would say Metroid series is still another reason to jump their bandwagon. They kinda have alot of common elements, but overall it still very diffirent experience, but in very familiar way (if that makes any sence).
You need certain abilities to be able to enter places you saw earlier but couldn't enter before. Huge overworld where you can go anywhere anytime you want and choose to explore or follow storyline.

Every good game does not only has to have good gameplay and graphics. It must also have a really good story.
The Metroid Prime story was all about Phanzon. And since Samus destroyed the planet Phaaze on Metroid Prime 3: Corruption all the Phanzon in the galaxy was rendered inert. In other words, no more phanzon
The end of Phanzon = The end of the story = The end of the Metroid Prime Series.
There will be more Metroid games, but the Metroid Prime seires is over. Understood?
Because, metroid prime was all about phazon. In the third game, phaaze was destroyed and all phazon was rendered useless. It did nothing since its life force was destroyed.
Hoping anyone at Retro Studios reads this: Thank you guys for making the Prime series with so much love and dedication. While I believe Prime2 was a bit of a bump on your road (I hated the light and dark mechanic, especially the dark world devoid of personality and good music) it was still good. Prime1 and Prime3 on the other hand, especially Prime1 are some of the best adventure games I have ever played.
I own all 3 Primes so Im hesitant about double dipping. I would like Prime 1 on my Wii only
Retro Studios. They've really done alot to Nintendo. I'm starting to doubt they will be able to survive without them on their side constantly working on something promising. Note that I do not know if they are or are not working on something very big. Just look at this IGN Video Special, they are the fucking video game reality. This is what developers should strive towards. Their ideas, the way the descripe how they made the trilogy is just significent, pure talented developers.
I saw this collection at Best Buy the other day. They also did the same thing with the first Pikmin. I'm just not sure if its worth getting the Trilogy on Wii since I've already completely finished the first two games, and the "bonus features" seemed kind of light. Maybe if I didn't already have Prime 3.
I don't see why people are posting that the wii has no hardcore games when the Metroid Prime Trilogy IS a hardcore game. I'm not a fanboy of any system (I have a ps3 and wii) and I don't care what your favorite system is but you gotta respect the Prime games. Nuff said.
Maybe the fact that Metroid prime trilogy conatains NO new content? It's contains a seven, a five and a two year old game with improved controls/load times. Sure it's a pretty decent deal, but most wii core gamers will have played all three already.
The whole "wii has no games" arguement was/is true in the aspect that last year (latter half) was a terrible year for wii gamers. There were no essential games for most people, and so far, this is the only one for me this year (excluding TMI)
you know, everyone got pretty hyped about the conduit coming to give the wii an FPS. but when i played it i really wasn't impressed. What I think everyone forgot about was metroid prime 3 had been there for a while, and that was good! sure it didn't have as many weapons as a traditional FPS, but the gun you had worked.

New Super Mario Bros Wii is the better story mode that LBP never had (I mean good story mode, LBP didn't have that), and LBP is the level creator that New Super Mario Bros Wii never had.

Only 2 thirds of the games on the disc are gc games, and when they are some of the best gc games it isn't too bad. Didn't i mention there has been some aesthetic changes to the games to?

You need certain abilities to be able to enter places you saw earlier but couldn't enter before. Huge overworld where you can go anywhere anytime you want and choose to explore or follow storyline.

Here's why:
Every good game does not only has to have good gameplay and graphics. It must also have a really good story.
The Metroid Prime story was all about Phanzon. And since Samus destroyed the planet Phaaze on Metroid Prime 3: Corruption all the Phanzon in the galaxy was rendered inert. In other words, no more phanzon
The end of Phanzon = The end of the story = The end of the Metroid Prime Series.
There will be more Metroid games, but the Metroid Prime seires is over. Understood?

Because, metroid prime was all about phazon. In the third game, phaaze was destroyed and all phazon was rendered useless. It did nothing since its life force was destroyed.

Hoping anyone at Retro Studios reads this: Thank you guys for making the Prime series with so much love and dedication. While I believe Prime2 was a bit of a bump on your road (I hated the light and dark mechanic, especially the dark world devoid of personality and good music) it was still good. Prime1 and Prime3 on the other hand, especially Prime1 are some of the best adventure games I have ever played.
I own all 3 Primes so Im hesitant about double dipping. I would like Prime 1 on my Wii only

Retro Studios. They've really done alot to Nintendo. I'm starting to doubt they will be able to survive without them on their side constantly working on something promising. Note that I do not know if they are or are not working on something very big. Just look at this IGN Video Special, they are the fucking video game reality. This is what developers should strive towards. Their ideas, the way the descripe how they made the trilogy is just significent, pure talented developers.

I saw this collection at Best Buy the other day. They also did the same thing with the first Pikmin. I'm just not sure if its worth getting the Trilogy on Wii since I've already completely finished the first two games, and the "bonus features" seemed kind of light. Maybe if I didn't already have Prime 3.

Maybe the fact that Metroid prime trilogy conatains NO new content? It's contains a seven, a five and a two year old game with improved controls/load times. Sure it's a pretty decent deal, but most wii core gamers will have played all three already.
The whole "wii has no games" arguement was/is true in the aspect that last year (latter half) was a terrible year for wii gamers. There were no essential games for most people, and so far, this is the only one for me this year (excluding TMI)

you know, everyone got pretty hyped about the conduit coming to give the wii an FPS. but when i played it i really wasn't impressed. What I think everyone forgot about was metroid prime 3 had been there for a while, and that was good! sure it didn't have as many weapons as a traditional FPS, but the gun you had worked.

Nintendo always has the REAL video games. I think people have lost sight of what makes a GOOD game. Complain all you want, but nintendo will always be on top when it comes to a real, fun GAMING experience.NINTENDO saved the industry in the 80s and continues to make incredible games to this day. Hardcore gamers are just a small percentage of all the gamers out there and true hardcore gamers wouldn't just limit themselves to first person shooters and rpgs. Those guys need a girlfriend XD
