At 2:54 you state "click on that", what did you click on? Every thing worked with you tutorial until that step. Could you please tell me what did you click on so I can complete the keyboard connection. thanks.....
Fantastic video!!!! One major difference I found was, according to the manual, once you've entered the PIN code on the Android, you then also type the same PIN number on the external keyboard itself (as it says in the manual). I connected via HID mode, and I'm running a UK Desire running CyanogenMod 6.1
This was really helpful... although the first few times I missed the following critical step: after clicking on the "test the keyboard" I initially missed the need to hold my finger on the input screen for a second in order for the phone to ask which input method. I usually follow directions pretty well, so if there are others out there who can't seem to get it working... make sure you focus on the instruction at 4:09.
I missed that as well. Thanks for pointing that out. I think that might need an extra comment along the way if they redo the video. Otherwise it was really helpful.
Dude this video was on point. I just got the Freedom Pro. Your instructions were spot on. I was following your exact instructions, I never looked at the manual. Great Job!!
UPDATE: I got EVO working by uninstalling the drivers. After reinstalling them again I was able to reproduce the error, so the E-Mail button does upset the driver. I found a second error, while touch typing. The keyboard/display changes to Korean (or similar) characters / symbols, when I go to use the Shift key but hit something else. The only way I've found to go back to the English character set is by uninstalling the driver and power cycling. As shifting is basic, I'm stuck till fixed.:)
I followed these instructions and they work perfect on the HTC EVO 4G, though the screens look slightly differently. I was able to surf the net.
Unfortunately, when I pressed the mail button the Freedom Pro software died. I have a message saying "Sorry! The application Freedom Pro Keyboard Driver (process com.freedom.pro) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. The dialog box has one button labeled: Forced Close.
From what I can tell neither the Android nor the Freedom work now.
I raised a support ticket - ZRQ-389227 - on the Freedom Technical site but have yet to hear back from them. I'm wondering how long do they typically take to reply and/or DO they reply?
i've got a limited time in which to return the keyboard for a refund. If their reputation is one to not reply / support their products, I guess returning it makes the most sense. Hopefully, this isn't the case.
Thank you so very much for producing and publishing this video. I have a Sprint HTC EVO 4G and you just sold me on this keyboard!! The company really owes you!
@bmoshier Thanks man if you head over the SimpleMobileReview website we have a person from Freedom that responds to customer questions and there are tons of threads with help and suggestions. Just search for Freedom. We have many articles on this to help you get going. But a video is worth a thousand words
Great Tut, you mentioned you had trouble with the incredible. I have a friend that has this exact keyboard with their incredible, is there a trick, or does it just not work right now?
@realm249 I was unable to get it to work but HTC is pushing and OTA update now so I hope they are fixing the BT Stack. If you come to SimpleMobileReview we have a long thread about freedom keyboards and Paul from Freedom frequently responds to user questions.
How do you have Android 2.2 on your Droid? I have the Droid, and the same dock, and I can't get Android 2.2 on it yet. And why does the dock home screen on yours look different than mine? Is it because you have 2.2?
Great video Rob. I was able to use your video to setup my SmartQ V7 Android running 2.1 on a 7" display. It's a device available from out of China so most of the apps and IME keyboard came with Chinese characters. After uninstalling all of that junk, I installed the xScope browser with AnySoftKeyboard to then get to your second phase of installing the otadrivers. I used the one at the bottom as you suggested for Android 2.0/2.1. Worked perfectly!!!! Thank you for creating this video.

@bmoshier The Korean switching is where you are pressing Shift+Space. In the driver settings now you can disable this toggle
