  • 3:43/4 ish he has a kicked puppy face : (

  • I am now 60 and only just read Pride and prejudice and seen this film, there is so much going on I must watch it again for the 9th time. Everything and everone is so perfect for the role it should have been made 8hrs long. I think the ensymes released during a heart attack have helped my femine side shine........ thats my excuse ! fantastic

  • everyone here should watch Becoming Jane.

    Abouts Jane Austanes live.

I really loves that movie too!!

  • 3:40-3:52 shouldve kissed her ... i dare say ... :)

  • " I love you, most ardently" :swoon:

  • LOVED this movie XD

  • OH MY GOD. I'm completely addicted to the scene, never occured to me before.

    The tension.. wow *____*

  • It doesn't get any better than this...My most favourite movie scene...Perfection!

  • I love the moment when they're both so angry, but they still almost lean in for a kiss... Siiiigh.

  • @CarolineWould

I like this scene very much, but it pains me. What's going on is this. Elizabeth, despite her dislike of Darcy, is sexually attracted and almost is drawn into a kiss. All very realistic and understandable. But where does that leave you if you are not that sexually attractive? Its saying that sexual attractiveness is what counts. What would happen if you were not as attractive as Keira or Mathew? This is why it pains me, realistic though it is.

  • Une des mes scènes préférés, le moment ou ils s'embrassent presque ahlalala Magnifiiique ! Ce film est tout simplement Subliiime, I want Mr Darcy !! Il est tellement sublime !

  • I've never seen anyone talk that fast before.

  • porque hay 2 finales

  • @chany30 Uno fue para America y el otro para UK el más corto fue para Gran Bretaña también se sacó de escena la boda aunque existen fotos de ella

  • Just beautiful...

  • I LOVE THIS SCENE

    leaves me speechless everytime... :|

*sign* .. they are so darn perfect for each other..

  • I love the bit at the end when he almost kisses her but draws back because he knows she hates him even though he loves her. This is the best version

  • "I've come here to see you"

    "I haved to see you"

    omg:|

  • I LOVE the moment, when after all this argueing they both realize the attraction they feel for each other. It makes me take a real deep breath when he moves towards her only to step back in the next moment. It's frustrating!

  • My favourite scene in this movie !

  • AMAZING

i love how he says i love you in a breath and so urgently

  • watch the whole movie..i've seen the version where colin firth was mr. darcy...but he's no match to matthew mcfayden as mr. darcy..but nevertheless colin firth is a very good actor :)

  • 'you are the last man in this world i could ever marry'

    woa. how pride she was

  • pleace say me the name this song !!

  • the name is "Darcy's letter" of Dario Marianelli, its of the soundtrack movie! bye... ;)

  • Kiss HERRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

  • i loveeeeeeeeeee this scene¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ is so romantic and at the same time so annoying ..with all the things he says...mmm anyway its just grate

  • i really love...looooove...loooooooooooooooooooooove this scene <3333333

  • love how he says ' i love you'

  • oh my god!! I love this scene, i loved the book, and this whole movie.. and the music at the begining of the movie, uhhh breathtaking! and keira is so gorgeus!

  • it's amazing!!!!

  • they're both amazing!!! keira acts sooo well =]

  • i must agree. thats was... BEYOND amazing. wow. the whole thing. that was probably one of the best scenes ive ever seen!

  • Although I'm not her biggest fan, Keira acted her socks off in this film - I love her portrayal of Lizzie

  • Oh my goddd , Best scene EVER .

mymymy this is sooo beautiful. !

  • I'm sorry but she is reeeeeally stupid for rejecting him

  • i agree with you...but she´s very pride, in this moment she doesn´t understand her feelings. Probably she´s has already in love with him, but she doesn´t know yet.

  • Thanx for putting this up! This is my fav scene!!

  • This is my fav scene of the movie, give us all the climax of it! The book is wonderful. The movie it's perfect.

I can't breathe during this scene, and I always hate Elizabeth for a few moments afterwords, because although I understand her motives for rejecting him, I couldn't do the same. He's beautiful.

  • im madly in love with this movie, book and MATTHEW MACFADYEN! this part of the movie makes me heart melt :)

  • esa mirada.. me hace sentir mariposas en el estomago..

  • Those eyes melt my heart.

Mr. Darcy is so breath taking.

  • qué ojos más especiales tiene este hombre....

  • love this part!...

  • the tension between these two makes it almost unbearable to watch. it's so well acted and so well executed. more over, it's heart wrenching!

  • Matthew mcfadyen has SOO much passion in this scene.. SOO much better then the BBC version. especially the bit where he leans in and says "so this is your opinion of me..."... OH GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!

  • i kind of hate the woman who plays Liz in this 1995 version. Keira Knightley IS Elizabeth freakin' Bennets! She is PERFECT!!! loved the 2005 version, it made me pick up the book (tried reading it last year at 13, and failed miserably). i love this soundtrack!!!

  • this was an excellent adaptation, this is by far my favorite movie, but they might have exaggerate some of the love scenes compared to the book , but I think they did well because it would have been really predictable

  • The BBC version was so long.Even though I love Colin Firth,I like the new version more that the old one.

  • that film was not like the book, I really preferred the BBC version

  • so close of kissing....

  • omg, this scene is perfect and so heartbreaking. I totally adore it.

  • Rain Scene!!!

  • i love this part too but it isnt like the scene in the book, because the movies should be much impressive. i understand it.

  • Sorry, but the series really trumps this.

It's good, but not brilliant. And Firth is just such an amazing Darcy. Plus they are speaking in a strange kind of modern-1800's English mix that's kind of offputting.

  • i totally agree... some of the most important sentences in this proposal were not emphasized.. i somehow feel that he said it too fast, but as for kiera, she did very well!

  • awsome scene!!

    i love this movie!

  • They are like robots! its like they are going through their lines, or rehearsing, no feeling behind those words! terrible acting! I wouldn't even call this movie pride and prejudice, it has nothing in common with the book. The series is so much better

  • I disagree, i love this scene from the film and believe that there acting was very well done. But i do equally enjoy the series. We are all entitled to our own opinion of course.

  • I also forgot to add that I have also read the book several times and think that for a film adaptation and the length in which they had to fit so much in, they did very well.

  • Hello AngelaANDmarilyn

I`m sorry but I can´t agree with you, although I respect your opinion. I dinn´t watch the series but this scene was the most important scene in this movie. I thought Matthew and Keira were perfects...like in the book, Mr. Darcy arrogant and pround of himself and Elizabeth prejudicing him.

By the way we can´t forget the chemistry between them... they make it clear in this scene.

    Bye, Bye

  • AGREE WITH SALLYBRAZIL

This scene = Pride n Prejudice

  • He should have kissed her!!!!!!!! As if!!!

hehe I love this movie so much :D

  • I love this scene. The acting, the scenery. Everything is just perfect.

  • 1 thing i definitely love about this movie is its lovely backgrounds :)

  • i really wish they would make more movies like this:)

  • i love this scene! the faults of both come out here! Darcy is inevitably proud, proposing by telling how hes going against his better judgements and watnot. And Keira for being prejudice in thinking elavating facts about Darcy like how he is trying to get Hane away from his friend. He is, yet only in the duty of a friend... which is quite different still... she just elavates it. THis is scene is one of the most important and well done :D

  • Love it. Cannot enphasize more. The beauty of these scene.

  • Does anyone know the song playing here?

  • best scene of the best movie :D

  • this is my favorite scene of the movie, give us all the climax of it! I'm reading the book right now and I can't wait till I read this part. It's an exciting book! The movie it's perfect. ;D

  • I love it!

    He had to kiss her..:P

  • no! than it was soo boring!! this is romantic

(sorry for the bad english (i'm dutch)

  • I'm dutch too!

But still; It would be romantic if he kissed her.

  • thanks so much for posting itˇ!

  • This is the BEST scene ever!!!! It's performed exceptionally well!

  • I love that bit! I prefer this version to the bbc version.

  • Despite everything he's done after that kind of proposal I don't think I cold have said no. Love this movie!

  • i love this scene, do you see the sexual tension at the end? fuck!

  • I thought he was about to kiss her, lol

  • he definitely looks as if he were about to kiss her. I love all 6feet and three inches of Mr.darcy. "there's something pleasant about his mouth when he speaks" Best movie ever.

  • he was about really to kiss her ! omg. i so love this scene ! =)

  • I agree lol, I was like "here comes the kiss!" and then it never happened.. lol.. I was like "aww poo." lol. (i only just saw it recently)

  • Dude, this scene is the absolute *definition* of sexual tension. I mean, DAYUM.

    *fans self*

  • Jane Austen kicks butt!

  • This scene is SO charged. I never get tired watching it. It's awesome!

  • i love it

  • Beautiful, really beautiful

  • When he says "Are you laughing at me?"

He looks so heartbroken, furious, and vulnerable at the same time. Matthew Macfayden IS Mr. Darcy :)

  • I totally agree with you, phantom. They could not have picked a better actor :). Makes me wonder how Elizabeth could still turn him down at the sight of such vulnerability!

  • I know! Even though he was a jerk the way he proposed to her in that scene, I was still mad at her for turning him down like that. Haha, that has to mean something

  • I should have been in that scene--I'd push Elizabeth out of the way and told Darcy to marry me instead.

  • I would have too! Lolz!!

  • Me, too. LOL!

  • Couldn't agree more!

  • Sorry I meant BEST CHOICE OF ARTISTS TO PLAY THE CHARACTERS.... ;)

  • best movie EVER!!

  • Una delle scene più belle del film... bellissimo <3

  • thank you sooo much for adding this I've been looking for this scene!

  • i love this movie and this scene especially.i love the actors and the characters.something about the romance between darcy and elizabeth just does something to me.

  • I love him!!!!!!!!

I dont care what he did, he is my favorite!!!

its so cute when he almost kisses her!

he has the most beautiful eyes!!!!

  • I agree with you

  • I love this scene. Very well acted. This version is very interesting since in the book they didn't almost kiss. It's interesting to see a different and more passionate version.

  • this is probably one of the best scenes, keira and matthew have so much more chemistry than colin firth and Jennifer ehle. i agree its very different and passionate, but i think that in the context of her time, janes original text probably seemed very passionate too.

  • i laughedout loud when mr. darcy can't say the word "i love you" in a straight sentence.. laughed even harder when he got rejected.. ouch...!

  • I always find it slightly strange that in those days, people courted for pretty short periods of time before they got married, yet the marriages were rarely ever ended, except by death. And nowadays, most people date for years before getting married, and still half the marriages in the US end in divorce.

Love this scene. Thanks for posting!

  • In those days one of the most shameful things you could do was end a marrige by divorce. but you are right.

  • I can quote this entire scene. Is that sad? LoL.

  • Not at all.I used to watch this movie twice a day.How 'bout that?LOL

  • NO, not sad at all... So can I LOLOL...I love this movie and this is my favorite scene. I can also recite the 1995's version.. LOLOL

  • God, do I love this scene. I think this is my favorite scene in the whole movie. Such strong performances from both...just overflowing with fabulous chemistry...and Mr. Darcy looks beautiful in the rain :D

    Thanks for posting! :)

  • ohh yes he does!

hah. i cried when i first saw this scene it was so sad :[ but really funny at the same time

  • I love this scene! The whole movie is absolutly amazing! Every time I watch this scene I like can't breathe.

Best romance movie I've ever seen!

  • my favorite scene!! my liking for lizzy went down alot when i first saw it though. lizzy wasnt nice. i love mr darcy!:D i wish he just kissed her.

  • I can't breathe during this scene, and I always hate Elizabeth for a few moments afterwords, because although I understand her motives for rejecting him, I couldn't do the same. He's beautiful.

  • Mr Darcy is da shit!!!!

    !!!!!!

It's cool how smooth the backed down form the kiss and still be like you want me!!!

  • this scene is a superb one.. i like the way Darcy holds on to his pride.. doesnt deny what he did.. that ultimately made him write the letter to 'clear' himself of the first impressions Lizzy had of him... no wonder this book's first title is First Impressions.. haha.. love this... does anyone know where i can get the full copy?

  • I am a straight male. I consider myself to be quite "macho"(sorry if that makes you ladies cringe)But this scene I love. My girlfriend is pissed at me because I love this movie so much..I assume it is because Jane Austen was meant to be a female secret?! "Mr Wickam." hahaha I love it. You can FEEL the tension between them. ahhh fuck the sexes being equal. Love meant so much more when there was there was an actual divide between the sexes. Why is our society trying so hard to kill romance.

  • Does anyone know where they filmed this scene? I know it's in England but where?

  • The best movie and the best scene....ever....LOVE IT!!! Love the comments too....

  • he's so hot. love you darcy

  • oh my god darcy's nice !! and his lovely blue eyes in the rain I wish they wer focused on me not lizzy . ( she likes to be named elizabeth i guess)

  • kiss her!!!!!

  • I hold my breathe every time I watch this scene...simply beautiful.

  • he does look good with wet hair..

  • Ahh, Mr. Darcy... *swooooon* X)

  • i agree!

  • Greatest scene in cinematic history. I love this movie soo much.

  • omg! i love you too mr. darcy!!....most ardently!! i want a mr. darcy!! =D love this movie and obviously the book.

  • i love the music!

    is so adoreble!

    i love them

    !!!

and mrs darcy is so hot!!!

  • I have the soundtrack too and it is awesome.Every time a song comes on you know what scene it's from. Very beautiful music!

  • it's soooooo sexy. lucky lucky bitch she gets to a marry a man who is really hot, really rich and who she loves. sorry if i just ruined it for you

  • I know! It's lucky for her that the man she loves is disgustingly rich, tall and handsome at the same time. Lucky Elizabeth Bennet.

  • matthew mcfadyen is the one and only mr darcy!!

love the movie and especially the actors and this beautyfull language!

  • The British English is so elegant^^

    I loooooooooooove this film

  • I love this scene! When I first saw this movie, I was shocked when Darcy told Lizzie he loved her. And is he really about to kiss her at 3:45-3:48? I never noticed that.

  • lol..he looks like he was going to kiss her..he kept glancing at her lips..

  • it's so sad that in 3:45-3:48 he looks like he's about to kiss her but then he stops....

  • "My sister hardly shows her true feelings to me." Awesome bit of writing for the screenplay. In the book that sentiment was buried late in the book when Darcy says that he closely observed Jane when he came calling with Bingley. That means Darcy quite possibly threw his friend back into the clutches of a gold-digger solely to win Lizzy--until he "observed Jane closely" and knew her feelings were real.

  • MOST ARDENTLY?!?!?!?! ooooh myy...

  • read "Mr. Darcy's Diary" its great i love it and i love this movie soo much!:D

  • Could you tell me the author of Mr Darcy's diary?I just got Darcy's daughters and can't wait to start it.

  • amanda grange is the author of "mr darcy's diary". it is really good and the whole time i imagened these actors as i was reading the book. there is a really funny part in the book btwn col fitzwilliam and darcy were his cousin calls darcy a blockhead! read it!! i recommend it highly!

  • Thanks for the info.Have you read Darcy's Daughters?I have that also but never started it. Maybe we will have alot of cold stormy snow days and I can get some reading done.lol

  • no, i haven't read "mr. darcy's daughters" because i read in a review that mr darcy and lizzy are not in the book. let me know if it's good and maybe i'll give it a chance. i just bought "mr darcy presents his bride" i read the review and they say it's good. i'll let you know!

  • It's good to get feedback.I started to read The daughter book and your right, They are not in it.But I do reconize alot of the characters.

  • "Mr Darcy's Diary is an amazing book!! it captures the characters amazingly!!! amanda grange is truly talented!!! everyone that is a fan of P&P must read it!!

  • lol i love this scene its my scene in the entire movie. i actually find it funny that theyre yelling at each other. mr.darcy is a little stalkerish in this scene...

  • This is a wonderful scene

    Mr. Darcy!

  • "Most ardently" is the sexyiest line...so romantic.

  • I love this scene! Funny how Mr. Darcy was willing to marry into her family, but didn't want his friend to marry Jane! 'We are all fools in love'.

  • Good point, I wondered that myself. His reasons for objecting to Jane/Bingley pairing could very well apply to himself and Elizabeth. The way I see it, he fancied Elizabeth from the moment he laid eyes upon her at the assembly and his feelings grew and grew with each encounter with her, until he was so tormented that he had no choice but to confront her and propose. Yes, fools in love indeed!

  • i absolutely love this film! keira and matthew are my fave actors and this is my fave scene!!

  • i absolutely love this film! keira and matthew are my fave actors and this is my fave scene!!

  • I'm absolutely addicted to this wonderful movie!!

Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen put so much emotion into their characters <3
