  • Thanks!

  • pretty cool

  • People, this video is aimed for beginners. He's playing very simply on purpose just to make it easy to learn.

  • very nice and slow...it is just perfect for beginners...thanks

  • what kind of snare?

  • Yes I agree, he is playing it quite theatrical so the beginner could see what he was playing otherwise more wrist less forearm would be hard for them to see wtf is going on. But since this is for a beginner then it should be a std fill going from snare to floor tom via the mid toms.

  • Jesus Christ man, LESS fore arm, MORE wrist. Ouch....

  • he looks to robotic

  • This is a demonstration video, he does it slow so the beginning drummer can see what he is doing. It should sound good at normal speed.

  • i xan do better than that its easy because its asimple beat

  • yeah a 5 piece just means there is 3 toms so he doesnt necessarily have to have 2 *and the high toms are called Rack toms* and 1 floor look at john bonham, or buddy rich, or many of the greatest jazz drummers in the world. its a classic setup that really got big with buddy rich and gene krupa of 2 floors 1 rack. its a traditional jazz setup. his is just in the blink 182 one of Travis barkers styles of alternating sides of the floor tom

  • it doesnt matter how a drum kit is supposed to be... its how a particular drummer is comfortable with setting up his drums, some drummers use only 1 tom, some use more symbols than they need... that doesnt mean its wrong, just means it's different. u play ur standard way, and people who like to try other things will play a different way...only 6 months? u'll get it.

  • different drummers like different elements in their kits. two floor toms isn't necessarily "wrong" (in fact, i have seen even more than two floor toms of varying sizes on some more advanced kits). part of the beauty of drumming is how differently drummers can configure their kits to achieve their own unique sound. you should set up your kit in the way that feels best for you, so if this guys wants two floor toms, six cowbells, and eight ride cymbals, then he should go for it.

  • see wot yer man is doing before he does that simple fill.....thats a 4 by 4 beat

  • title should be=very very very very basic drum fill!!!! handy for da new drummers i suppose.

  • lmfao!!

    lol..yea VERYYYYY

    BASIC...but w/e

  • whoeva sent this in, can u pllzlz answer me:

i wanna become a good drummer in a short amount of time ive got from now(april 5th 2008)

until the 30th of april 2008!!!!!!!!!

i dunno wat to do.. can u give any tips or suggest any videos i also wanna become goood at drum rolls and fils..... and teach myself!!!!!!!!

plz help me,,,, im begging here!!!!!!!!!!

  • how the hell did you get into a situation like that lol?

your gonna need to practise a lot!!

  • check out drumteacher76 for a couple of nice touches....my advice for your situation though is to keep pratcing the basic 4*4 beat. you can go anywhere from there once you've that mastered.

  • what is a 4*4

  • What is a 4 by 4 beat! any drummers basic tool! look it up nd get learning cause i cant explain it,i can only show it!

  • 4/4 is a master time signature. You count:

    1, 2, 3, 4 = 1st measure

    1, 2, 3, 4 = 2nd measure

    1, 2, 3, 4 = 3rd measure

    1, 2, 3, 4 = 4th measure

That is 4 measures of 4/4.

Other time signatures would be 5/4 & 7/8.

The second "4" in "4/4" means a complete BASIC measure. The first "4" in "4/4" means how long you'll be playing that measure. So example:

  • I thought you count:

    1,2,3,4

    2,2,3,4

    3,2,3,4

    4,2,3,4

  • so when you play a whole song, would it be like this?:

    1,2,3,4

    2,2,3,4

    ....

    132,2,3,4

    133,2,3,4

    134,2,3,4

    :D

Just kidding; you can count any way you like, but counting the bars isn't really necessary.

  • KieferStix is right. When it comes to music, it's debatable whether you want to be technical or not. Half of all musicians feel it should be technical, and the other half feel you should just feel the music; and some both I suppose. My favorite time signature is 7/8. You play a normal 4/4, but the last 8th count is dropped, hopping your rhythm on the up beat. See Mike Portnoy's odd time signatures video here on youtube.

  • I feel the music so i never have to count.

i think if you start counting,

you are can be wrong much quicker ...

but yea, to actually feel the music,

you gotta have rhythm and talent you know ...

oh and CTRSTdrumschool thing, try using you hands more than your arms :D

    little hint :p

  • I'm not sure whether your comment is trying to boast or not, but you're making it sound as if people who need to count things you aren't as good as you are. It really depends what style of music you play; I know from first hand experience that when playing, say, jazz, some rhythms definitely need counting out. You can't just "feeel the muuuusiiicc" because it isn't always that simple :S

  • @ArmourTheLlama Yes, i know. Like beats in like 9/11 should use some counting, but i was actually speaking about this video.. it's just in 4 .. i don't think you should need counting there.. at least i don't have to...

  • I prefer something like 1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 e + a. So you don't stumble up on numbers.

  • its important to be able to count and to feel the music. generally i count when i practice hand exercises and when i first mess around w/ different time signatures but once im on the kit and im used to the time i fuck counting and just feel it. the 1234 2234 3234 method bloodstainguitar is referring to is great for counting long pauses or parts where you need to know exactly how many bars your at. however it will only get in your way when playing a groove.

  • hehehe, you are not gonna become a "good drummer" in a short amount of time.. it is not like smashing a drunk man.. just practice and practice rudiments and coordination stuff.. but not sure of how to become a good drummer in less than a month... if u get a book or dvd like that hit me up, heh

  • how did he do that? lol

  • easy

  • did he turn off snare

i dont know i cant get that sound

  • ITS CALLED A RIMSHOT

  • he wasnt doing a rim shot stupid

  • I'm just learning to play the drums SO I love what I've just learned from u !!! thanks a million!!!! and for the people who dont have anything nice to say , if u can teach beginers something GET TO IT !!! this man NEVER said a word and I got everything I needed for the day!!! SO" DRUM" OR GET OFF THE POT !!

  • i dont agree with tibii17 xDxD

  • its very easy but its good. if somebody is learning first fills, its easy to learn that fill from this video. this video is not like "watch how fast and great fills i can play". i like it

  • The funny thing is that even though you're only playing a standard 8th note rock beat, you're doing it in such a solid manner that this is actually better than 99% of the drumvideos one will find on youtube. Supercool. Honestly.

  • well then, send us a link to a video of you playing a really fast fill, you tard

  • its not ment to be cool, its suposed to teach people watching it a simple fill. hes obviously playing it slow so the viewer can lern how to do it.

  • cool !!!

  • Quite cool!

That's the right difficulty level 4 beginners.

Other people post so called "Beginner videos", playing the hardest stuff they are able to play.

I'm sure you could do more difficult fills, but this video is not a solo, but a beginner video, so it's cool ;-)

  • basic drum fill dickheads. he didn't say expert drum fill

  • ...it is a fill...

  • everybody who says something bad about this video is an idiot. read the info attached to the video

  • right,its boring,but man,its only 4 beginnners.

  • well done sherlock

  • umm..

  • That's what wannabe drummers do.

  • man do u find that fun lol

  • this is way below begginner style man

  • how can i control my right foot?

  • dude u have so0o0o0 much arm movement on the hats...maybe its ur style bt i prefer more wrist! great vid tho...:)

  • he is trying to make sure you see every single hint..so its easier to learn. yes wrist is the key for playing

  • i agree, i use more of the wrist 2

  • i can play drums :D im not allowed one through coz i live ina block of flats...

    but .....

    i play them in school

im good at them but i dont half mak e a racket

  • Great Lesson it really helps..thx a lot :D

  • lol...basicly every one who is commenting this video have no idea how to play drums. it makes my day

  • yep....And im sure your a real pro

  • nice set up... must have cost an arm and a leg, though.

  • I would love to see another video from you.

    great

  • nice kit

  • i'm an amatuer drummer thsnkd for the great lesson ^_~

  • I love jamming with my bass to this drum fill. Do you think you could make another video, like this, but longer, and maybe just a hair faster? thanks.

  • i like the idea of havin a floor tom either side of ur kit, but what are like the advantages of that other than takin up less stage room lol

  • if you play jungle groove alike things (as can be found in some Dream Theater , Liquid tension experiment) it is easyer to alternate between the floortoms when they are on both sides and it's allowing the left hand to be at a better angle for hitting high toms I guess. But I think most important is personal preference ;)

  • what snare drum are you using?

  • DW Craviatto from 2002

  • Thank you [=

  • why is it called a "fill"?

    thanks

  • it fills in time

  • what snare are you using??

  • HAHAHA GUD 4 THE POSER

  • thank you

  • I'm a beginner, and i think its a good simple beat!

    I will try it!!

  • Awesome job dude! That's inspiration right there! I've been playing for seven years and I see all these fast and crazy drummers. I mean, it's more important to keep a great beat, and keep the fills crisp, steady, slow, (not all the time though,) and solid. Great job!

  • beginers should never ever never ever..learn this fill. its not even fun to play. there are simpler ones that are fun too

  • Its a good simple beat for beginners, but your arms are wayyy to still, relax a bit man!!!

  • Tully, don't you mean your 5? Not 15? Good lord, good thing your a 'drummer' and not someone whose been to school and taken any kind of literature or grammer classes.. The school system at work! Ha-Ha!

  • m a beginner...i think dat was easy...i was able play it w/ eight notes...

  • Erm.. i hope dis woznt da best u cn do. if it is den am very happy. coz am onli 15, n its gud 2 kno dat am beta dan sum adults on drums

  • Too bad you're not as good with english, eh?

  • Fuck off cunt.

  • It's meant to be basic. It's a lesson for beginners, Tully you retard. Look at his other videos and see how good he really is.

  • You probably haven't taken any english classes

  • keith moon put his one of his floor toms on that side...but i think he still had 2 on the other side too

  • I have my floor tom like his

  • not bad, good practise for beginners. 4 stars.

  • because he likes it there jackass

  • Where he places his floor tom is personal choice dude, so whats the problem. Haven't you seen, some drummers with largest floor tom at their snare, I think Dave Grohl did it with his QOTSA drumming and currently Muse drummer Dom Howard has it like that.

Check out my drumming vids please :)

  • Your kit sounds Awsome!!! Is it a Ludwig Classic Maple? What kind of snare and heads are you playing?
