my wife and I spent our honeymoon as they were finishing shooting. it is a beautiful part of the world. my wife grew up a few miles from there. one of the most beautiful places in the world. i miss it dearly
I actually stumbled across this song by chance while searching Youtube for music to study to. This song led to me watching the movie, and I'm so glad because it was one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. And of course, after watching the movie this song now makes me incredibly sad.
@ginnyginevra6 uhhh.... that's not a movie yet... I'm confuttered. (I seriously couldn't get past the first book. If you are going to write something over 500 pages, it better be the best thing since toast! And sadly, it just wasn't. It just...was terrible. -.- But whatevs. If it brought you here, it brought you here)
@ginnyginevra6 Huh... I guess I don't remember. Unless it was mentioned in one of the other books? Yeah. I read a lot. And I had heard a lot of amazing things about this series, so I decided to read them. But I just couldn't get past the first book. I wish I could've, but i just couldn't. Her writing style just doesn't appeal to me in the least. I liked the idea, but same as with Gone by Michael Grant, the execution sucked. Execution is everything.
“A la claire fontaine,” Maryse said, “m’en allant promener.”
He turned to look at her “What?”
“Il ya longtemps que je t’aime. Jamais je ne t’oublirai—- it’s the old French Ballad I used to sing to Alec and Isabelle. The one you asked me about.”
There was very little light in the room now, and in the dimness Maryse looked to him almost as she had when he was ten years old, as if she had not changed at all in the past seven years.
She looked severe and worried, anxious—- and hopeful. She looked like the only mother he’d ever known.“You were wrong that I never sang it to you,” she said. “It’s just that you never heard me.”

I LOVE the mortal instruments! always wondered how the ballad would sound! its amazing to finally hear it :)

This song has been in my heart ever since I first heard it.
When I was 30, it became painfully true when someone went away.
I'm 69 now & it's stlll in my heart & so is the one who went away.......

As the singer is a woman, it seems the words were changed to "mon doux ami" instead of "ma douce amie".
This is such a beautiful song, no matter the word variations.

@water2chick no the song was only mentioned by one of the characters. it's a shame it is a great series, but to each their own i guess :)
