Synthetic oil to get water in another container above 100 deg C? What I feel would happen is that the water would get to the 100 deg C then boil for the recommended time, then be good to drink/use. If one needed the lit could fasten down increasing the pressure and thus temperature above 100 deg C. hopefully that makes some sort of sense.
just send mirrors to these countries.. the people can just aim a bunch of sun light at any standard pot.. cheap effective and versital.

That's a nice idea. I have used a glass pot, sealed with a metal pot inside, and evacuated. Works great.

maybe steam would work,but water cannot, because it will always below the boiling point.
