Imagine this song would have been a number 1 hit in 1988 in Malaysia. Maybe that's why I like it because it reminds me of all the 80s songs I used to listen to when I lived there.
I would go see Lady Gaga if it was for free. I would shell out tons of cash to see Roisin Murphy. Why her music isn't played on the radio is something I will never understand. It's so funky. Lady Gaga just sounds the same over and over. Don't get me wrong she has a great voice but all of her songs sound the same.
I keep gravitating to this video for one major reason: I identify with it. She walks into a diner in colorful, creative clothes, and even as she starts to dance, nobody knows her, nobody sees the *real* her dancing right in front of them...That's how I feel sometimes...invisible.
Okay, so... I'm a fan of Gaga's + Roisin's. But everyone does know Roisin is dancing around in one outfit in a diner right? Fair enough she was out there or whatever you want to call it first. But she stuck with the same things. Gaga is continuously evolving and that's why she took off and has the stats that she has today. Because she experimented.. Roisin sticks to the status quo. That's all I'm saying.
@MycalBRUH You should listen/watch "Movie Star" or "Sweet Nothings" -- all of her lyrics and production values are great. She most definitely knew how to stretch herself artistically. And you can't use "stats" or "how many units moved" to judge an artist's worth. I mean, yeesh, look at the record sales of the Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus...

With every album, she brings a new "era", and to be "experimental" it doesn't have to be a fucking circus or runway show in the video, experimenting means using diferent Things, well, roisin has, In every video, she has diferent haircuts, outfits, hats, make ups, even if she makes just a few videos everytime she makes an album, she IS versatile.

On Born This Way, many of the lesser known songs show that she is moving away from the stereotypical pop genre. Many of her songs are still poppy, but less so, I think.

She's worked with a long list of legendary musicians such as Elton John, Cher, Bruce Springsteen, Brian May, Clarence Clemons, Patti Labelle, Tony Bennett, Sting, Blondie, Shirley Bassey, Yoko Ono, and Michael Bolton. @JacobMiroTheCat Lady Gaga has all the power needed to achieve music as artfull as Roisin's but she is more focused on being on top and influencing as many people as possible, so at the start of her career she aimed on making her music poppy. On Born This Way, many of the lesser known songs show that she is moving away from the stereotypical pop genre. Many of her songs are still poppy, but less so, I think.

@021purple Oh she is already! Ever heard of Moloko? She was the lead singer for 10 years..There is a wonderful DVD from their last Concert out there called "11.000 Clicks" wich was filmed by Dick Carruthers who worked for Led Zeppelin, Who, Portishead and others. Highly recommed to watch this!
