  • amazing job! beautifully done mate. :)

  • Oh my gosh!!! That was beautiful!! I seriously love you haha, it was one of the most amazing things I have ever heard.

  • @Tswiftbubbles Thank you very much ^^

  • beautiful!! one of my favorite songs :)

  • Wow! I'm floored. Great job!

  • Really, really good job, very cool!!

  • Really, really well done. That sounds incredible. Happening across things like this highlight the beauty of the Internet. Thank you.

  • @thehoneyman Thanks! Check out my most recent video "Sweet Lorraine". It's arranged by the same musical genius Gene Puerling, but has a real bass and a real soprano to make it more effective.

If you enjoyed the vocal jazz check out my:

    Like Someone in Love

    My Romance

    All The Things You Are

    (All Gene Charts)

  • Bravo! Great Job! The Manhattan Transfer reborn.

  • manonfire said it best.......lower the soprano and bump up the tenor. Its a beautifully arranged peice (MT?) that really highlights a strong tenor line.

  • @3:19 gives me goose bumps. Really beautiful.

  • this is amazing. i'd lower the soprano volume and up the tenor just a little bit though. but amazing.

  • I've never heard any better a capella from one person. Thumbs up!

  • Listen to the Vera Lynn version then this solo guitar version watch?v=Ryc5tkyE6QQ& you are up there with the allstars

  • Danny:

    Awesome job.

Do you have perfect (absolute) pitch?

  • @3rdbillygoat Nope, only a well-trained ear.

  • LOL. Fun! Technology is a trip. The hero here remains Puerling and Sherwin.

  • Going to ignore your TMT diss. You did a really great job. My only issue is I wished we can hear the bass line more. But you did well. Kudos to you.

  • This is my husband's and my fave love song, and you've made it spectacular!! Thanks! Will be following you with interest!

  • Mate, well done, this is both impressive and beautiful. YouTube needs more people making music like this!

  • really good man!!!!

  • love this!! terrific job, guy ... keep it up!!!

  • love this song

  • Um...Anyone who listens to this and complains about some MINOR pitch issues that the average ear doesn't hear anyway, is way out of line. Whoever you are, you are amazing. I'm a giant fan of Puerling's arrangements, and you have knocked it out of the park. I'm subscribing...and posting on my fb for the sake of my students.

    Thank you for being born.

  • @CapitalPlayhouse You can thank my parents for that one but I'll be sure to pass the message along.

  • This is incredible.

  • tout simplement remarquable...!

  • thank you so much for sharing your obvious talent

  • absoutely beautiful!!!!! great ear!!!!

  • I've just pressed the key before I proofread. It should have been:

This is one of my favorite songs. It's so nice to hear this song in such a beautiful voice. I also enjoyed last 10 seconds of the movie.

You are cool and super. Thanks for uploading and ARIGATO from Tokyo.

  • This is one of my favorite songs. It's so nice to hear this song in such a beaustiful voice. I also enjoyed last 10 seconds of the movie.

You're cool and super. Thanks for uploding and ARIGATO from Tokyo.

  • That was really fine! Great job.

  • Excellent! My

Favorite version By Manhattan Transfer has just been replaced!!!!

  • Total awesomeness.

  • das ist ganz toll!!!! :-))))))))

  • I disagree with what you wrote in your description. There are a couple places where you slide out of tune, especially when you get into your higher range and head voice and falsetto. "the moon that lingered" verse was always a tad flat. There's no "right" key. As a musician you should know this: that you adjust music to a key you can sing in. This rendition is just by you. So you did it in a key that you could sing in. TMT PROBABLY did it in a key that all four of the vocalists could sing.

  • @RCycleRider4Eva I agree, I shouldn't have written "tune" in the description. However, I was referring to mostly how they go about a semitone flat and end up overall flatter than the arrangement suggests. I know this because it was very difficult to transcribe. I had a very tough time differentiating which key they were singing in because they were about half way in between two keys. It doesn't mean they weren't in tune with each other, because they're still fantastic.

  • @daniscool99 That being said, however, I do love your rendition and it is a joy to listen to.

  • AWESOME

  • It's amazing that you can do all of the different parts perfectly. You're really talented!

  • any chance you could upload the four parts seperately? or possibly send me the video file for the alto part?

  • not bad dude!!!

  • This is really great! May i suggest a song....Widdecombe Fair by Little Johnny England x

  • awesome cubed.

  • this boy is too cute for this planet :)

  • Music is so much stronger than words that my comment will be meaningless in comparison to the harmonious brilliance you display with your God-blessed talent. If only there was a more explicit phrase than "thank you". But such will be forced to suffice. Infinitely magical.

  • Oh I love this song so much; we performed it in jazz band in high school. :3

  • how long did this take?

  • @bangjiwoo I can't remember.. 4 or 5 hours?

  • This is wonderful! Good job, keep going. You have an amazing voice. And you did a super job on the multi-tracking. And I also loved the hat!!!

  • this was beautiful you made my night! Thank you! Keep doing what you'er doing you'er very talented..... I have a request The next song April in Paris!

  • just perfect :-)

  • You have such a good voice. Very well done. :D

  • I'm in love with you

  • I love the voice. I love the hat. I love you.

  • @JewsHarp93 wow so much love!

  • beautiful, bro.

  • This is one of my favorite Manhattan Transfer songs....

I love theirs, and I love yours.

  • I completely love the fact that people still believe in real music and are willing to pursue it...surely beats the crappy sell out music that people put out just so that they can be popular, only to have someone who's doing the same thing only in a SLIGHTLY different way replace them.

    Keep it going!!!!!

  • Awesome ! - to the cretins that say canadians are boring - they should listen to Fong & kesler - oh yes and Maynard Ferguson, Oscar Peterson, Diana Krall et al.

Thanks for posting Danny - extremely enjoyable !

  • @CanuckComp glad some else out there with an ear for chord progressions ....instead of "it sounds nice".

    i'm with ya buddy!

  • Danny, Fantastic. Have seen groups try it, but you nailed it. Yes, 4 Freshmen and Hi Lo. I remember them so well. Thanks a ton. Real music!!!!!

  • Wow... just wow... Arguably better than the Manhattan Transfer...

  • @JamesMichaelNewton in "ur' opinion right?

  • nice version..!!!

  • I can't believe it, you're amazing.

You remind me of me 50 years. I would do over dubbing with 2 reel to reel tape recorders until I had 4-8 voice harmony like the Freshman, Hi Los and the Singers Unlimited.

Needless to say the quality was horrendous. But I loved it anyway.

It's wonderful to hear that a young man believes in "real" music and performs it with such emotion. God bless you Danny, keep it going.

    Robert D

  • Absolutely fantastic!!!

  • congrats again- great vocals, Danny!

  • Damn fine. I'd cut the Transfer a little slack tho'. Whole buncha chops in that there mouth band...... ; - )

Makes me think of the Four Freshman.

  • This video is brought to you by Transformers! :)

  • Dang, how do you get the timing so perfect???

  • @Gallahaut by having a vision of what I'm going for and by aligning my breaths.

  • ...And of course, by MH, I meant MT... duh.

  • Dan- I never thought I'd hear a version of this as pure as MH. I am blown away. Fantastic!

  • muito bom! muito bom! parabéns!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!! How impressive!

  • Fabulous!! One of the best performances I've come across. Keep up the great work!!

  • Very impressive! You clearly have a lot of musicality. :)

  • Not gonna lie, that is freakin impressive

  • dude where'd u get the music for this?

  • every time i hear this song i just, become so peaceful. its like all the things i worry about, dissapear.i love this song. thank you soooooo much for making, and posting this video. now whenever im feeling down i'll either listen to, or think of this song. :)

  • This is a truly captivating song (and difficult to do well) and one of my favorites. Thanks for another 5 glorious minutes.

  • Awesome.

  • Omg! My choir is singin this nd im absolutely in love with it. U betta sang! lol

  • wow! you almost made me cry, this is so beautiful!

  • Bravo!!! ★★★★★

Almost did it like that of The Manhattan Transfer ---

    You are very talented. ★★★★★

  • Ahhhh I love this song.

  • Do you recommend this mic for great quality vocal records? I may buy one

  • @Transgression92 for quality vocal records? I recommend it sure, it sounds great and is affordable. Great mic.

  • this is b e a utiful! you should make cds, and sell them! i know i'd buy them! :)

  • Are you familiar with the S. K. Grundy arrangement of "Nightingale . . ." that the Confederates (1956 SPEBSQSA champs) did? Actually, I prefer the way Dealer's Choice (1973 SPEBSQSA champs) did it--same arrangement, but much more engaging interp. Grundy changed the melody a little in the bridge to get what he felt was a better chord progression, but it's still a honey of a chart. I do believe I like Manhattan Transfer's arrangement just a tad better, tho'. Good job on this!

  • Wonderful job on a great old song. Keep up the good work. Roy

  • OMG! That's perfection.

  • Wow! Very, very well done! And it's the Gene Puerling arrangement.

  • As usual..............LOVE IT

    trevororrell

  • How could anyone not like this? I'm a huge fan Danny - and I'm 67!!! Wonderful work, wonderful voice, extraordinary talent.

  • hey dude, may seem like a silly question but what is your job? would seem a waste if it's not in music.

  • I like how you ended it.

  • I thought I'd look around after seeing the pokemon video.

    Nice work, keep it up!

  • wonderful voice

  • holy shit I love this song, its one of those that my mother had on a tape and its always stuck to me

  • What kind of mic is that Danny?

  • @garyhowe APEX 435

  • @daniscool99 does it come with all of those little attachments or just the mic?

  • @TheHoneybuns021 ? I'm not sure what you're referring to.. my mic Apex 435, a Mic stand, and a pop filter are in this video? Sorry if I answered the wrong question.

  • @daniscool99 that's what I meant, the stand and filter. I'm guessing I would have to buy those separately?

  • great job young fella you have a gift and great vocal tuning and range!

  • Nice job! Love your Scarborough Fair as well!

  • Good work! Grat!

  • I sang this for my grade 5 exam. I love your version. One of my fav songs!!!

  • I study classical music in 5th semestra. This was fucking fantastic. maybe 2 or 3 little mistakes, but I dont count them this was really great great great, I almost cried.

  • Utterly impressive and moving!

  • that was awesome!!!

  • O_O WOW!! Bravo!!

  • Wow, this sounds awesome! I love it.

  • Golly...I'm surprised a the picky responses. Manhattan Transfer doesn't even sing this piece as written..they omit the dissonance on "seemed upside down". Danny does it pretty close to perfection. Y'all give it a try...this is a very difficult piece of music.

  • @BHSGreatness

i dont know what note you're hearing, but I think its the first Db below middle C =S

I know several girls who can hit that note

  • next time bump up the bari part i could hear it in the very beginning and from 2:55 it caught back up again but in between i cudnt hear it that well

  • Hey, sounds super!!! Just wondering if you meant M-audio pro usb? Only ask because i've never heard of a M-audio pre but thats prob my lack of knowledge. =)

  • @TheGreatPianist It's an M-Audio Pre-USB . I would know, he bought it off of me once I upgraded to a Presonus Firepod haha

  • @AndrewKesler haha yes you would!! thanks for the comment! :)

  • i gotta admit that this is pretty sick :) the only thing is that i would differentiate the vollumes of each part because since some of the chords in this song are really tense when sung together so when they are all the same vollume it is really straining so I would just lower the vollume on some of the tense parts that clash with each other...other than that you've got a great range and you did this in a very tastefull way...good job :)

  • This is amazing, only thing i would do is work on the diction alittle bit, but other than that GOOD JOB!

  • As close to perfection as can be attained, Dani. Keep up the good work!

    Fri

  • I listened to this video a couple of months ago but I forgot to comment. Anyway I've listened to their (manhattan's) version a million times before. I like this song sung this way and you sung it in a more refined fashion. Hahaha you were probably not born yet when they recorded it. The BBD (bucket brigade) chip havent been invented yet. Now its used in almost every audio equipment. Keep singing its beautiful!

  • I am green with envy over your amazing falsetto! Your derrière must hurt after singing that high, lol! :P Loved it!

  • excellent!!!

  • Bravo! Kudos to you. Sheer perfection. Do you sight read, have the tabs, or hear all of the parts by ear?

    Well done, lad!

  • This is an amazing job! I have to sing the bass part as part of my choir audition. But its kinda hard to hear it. You should post them as individuals :)

  • I grew up listening to Manhattan Transfer and I've always loved the way that their tones always blended. It was like they were of the same person (which brings the song Four Brothers to mind actually) just as you are here. I tip my hat to you as this is almost 100% identical to their recording and I can't stop listening to it. 5 stars and a subscription here.

  • This is fantastic! I have to sing this for my Jazz choir audition, and I want to sing the Soprano or Alto part... You should record and post each of them individually so I can learn it...!

  • Amazing, you have such a range!! and such a beautiful voice. great harmonies. I'd love to sing with you :D Great job!!

  • lovely! just wish the tenor and bass parts were a tad louder. still, gorgeous voice. you harmonize very nicely with yourself!

  • also, fabulous falsetto! clear and resonant, quite nice.

  • Practically enchanting its beautiful. its not just singing its feeling the music. you are a wonderful musician.

  • Wow! Awesome, Danny! You're very talented and you've helped me learn more about Gene. I've heard a lot of his stuff, but never knew who it was that arranged the songs. Keep up the good work. I'll subscribe and I'll be listening ;)

    Fri

  • I thoroughly enjoyed your rendition of the arrangement. I also enjoy the Manhattan Transfer's arrangement and it is nice to hear the differences in the two. I understand that yours if probably what Puerling intended, but there is some phrasing that MT do that I also appreciate. Well done.

  • Nice job here Danny!

  • I am very, very impressed. You MORE than do Peurling's arrangement justice. Each chord is in tune and the complex harmonies are tight. Bravo. A pleasure to listen to!

  • this is incredible. my a cappella group sang this piece. you do a pretty damn good job by yourself, though. and I concur - it's an amazing arrangement with just 4 parts.

  • Sorry, I just read your info block where you state that you don't use auto-tune. What are you listening to when you do these? Are you singing along with something?

  • @eatysoony The first one I did with the blow of a pitch pipe. The rest I listened to the first one(s).

  • Hello Danny,

do you use Auto-tune on these multitracks?

  • @eatysoony nope :)

  • @daniscool99

You have a gorgeous voice. <3 I'm taken aback. You inspire me to keep working on my clean vocals. :)

  • @eatysoony Some people just have talent. I know in this age of auto everything, it is hard to believe. @Dan, wow man, just wow!

  • top shelf as always - your work is not only a joy to hear, but gives us wannabes a chance to sing along

  • @acapeles1 Well I don't really know what you're referring to. All of my notes match those of the music. Do you know what the notes are supposed to be? It's a very complex arrangement.

  • Logic Pro?

  • Dan, your stuff is absolutely STUNNING! I'm not sure which intrigues me the most: the arrangements (I know, they're not yours); your range, from bass to falsetto; or the accuracy of your synchronisation between the parts.

    Please keep them coming!!

    Alan (in the UK)

  • This stuff is simply amazing. I have another suggestion, even if its a bit below your GODLIKE level!! We're doing New Ashmolean Marching Society and Students Conservatory Band. You should look at it, you would completely rock it based on your stuff! Keep up the amazing work!

  • Wonderful and moving, who could ask for anything more? I'd buy your CD too, if you release if. Big fan over here! Cheers

  • Thank you my friend :), I'm glad you appreciate my hard work ^^

  • Perfect !!!

  • amazing

  • nice , how did you pull off such coordination :)

how do yo split the video into 4 like that?

    keep up the good work

  • absolutely beautiful.

  • wow

  • Stunning

  • Wow! Excellent job. Spot on intonation. There are a few spots where you're singing something different from the Manhattan Transfer version (I don't know if you chose to do this intentionally or not). Anyway, great job. This is the first video of yours that I've come across--now I'll have to check out everything else you've done.

  • Perhaps your best so far. Thanks. Waiting for a CD.

  • really enjoyed, thanks for sharing your talent

  • Dan, I continue to be amazed by the combination of genius and talent you possess. I so look forward to your latest, and this was one from an all-time favourite group of mine for many, many years! Your rendition rivals M.T.'s for clarity, quality, precision, pitch, control..... Thanks Dan! from Darryl in Regina

  • you can buy this gene puerling arrangement on pretty much any major choir music store, its like a dollar a copy. it's also available for ttbb, which is pretty much just down like a 4th, for those jazz/barbershop quartets

  • @kpxkrappy1 How nice.

  • Sorry to be off topic, but I LOVE the posters on the wall behind you. GO TRANSFORMERS!! Haha, but yes, as always, you did a fantastic job.

  • WONDERFUL!

  • Fantastic Danny. As a quartet, we used to do "Java Jive" and "Tuxedo Junction" in shows. Great stuff. Keep it up.

  • The Manhattan Transfer is my favorite group, really. Loved them since "Java Jive" and "Tuxedo Junction". This is one of my favorite songs they do. (I used to sing Alan Paul's part) You did a great job with it. As for me The Manhattan transfer can do no wrong. I can say the same for you. Do you do your own arrangements?

  • By the way, the hat is hysterical. Must be very cold already up North! Stay warm and be cool.

  • Great...my favorite Manhattan Transfer Song!!! I've gotten to see them twice in person...once on New Year's Even in Radio City Music Hall in 1983...and once 2 years ago in Madrid. They are still as magnificent as ever. You do them justice. I really enjoy your videos...keep them coming!!! I'm going to send this one around...it's wonderful. Have you ever tried any of the original Swingle SIngers stuff from the 1960's...that would be a new challenge.

  • congratulations dani, it's a fantastic performance!!!

  • simply gorgeous ... it SO makes my day when you post a new work <3
