  • How sad

  • Excuses excuses, lame and weak!

  • Rahgoesrawr if you ever took the time to learn somewhzt abiut christianity and didnt have a closed mind and looked at the world now u would change your mind you say things and yet.. Weres the full on proof of evolution? Atleast for the bible papers were found from accounts not a bone from the ground. maybe dinosaurs exisisted BUT the bible mentions creatures that are probably dinosaurs so if you actually read the bible front to back and still find evidence then talk or dont insult our religion

  • Man the Fray are LAME. Spiritual is so different then being a follower of Christ. Not listening to cowards anymore. LAME.

  • @wolfpride228, same here. A lot of it can be translated into different things, but for me it's my walk with Christ.

  • They say they arn't a christian band....but thier music speaks to me in a Godly way.

  • @rashgoesrawr Yeah I'm totally budding into your argument with someone else, but that's because I have something to say, and you can take my words and listen or ignore them. You were right, Christianity, by Webster's definition, is a religion. But when you hear someone refer to it as a relationship, it's because a CHRISTIAN is one who has accepted Christ and follows his teachings. Now the only way to live like Christ, is to know who Christ is. And so the "religion" becomes a "relationship".

  • Christ in that in which permeates the essence of the Christian being. How can you not but sing about which transcends the human experience and gives hope that is supernatural. Maybe these band members went to church but never met the Bridegroom of the Church?....

  • Im Christian, but I'm not upset at them being not a Christian band, if they were then what's gonna happen to Hillsong? Anyway, really guys, there are a lot of Christian bands already, and they're making great songs about Jesus and the Good News, The Fray chose to be not a Christian band, but that doesnt mean they're not spreading the Good News. Sheesh. That's why we have a bad reputation, most of us are too close-minded. So keep your ideals to yourselves and listen to their amazing secular songs

  • Butthurt Christians please move along.

  • Why is everyone disappointed in The Fray? Because not every single song they write or put out is "spreading the message"? This is where I find fault with a religion that I grew up around and am slowly diverging from. I understand your intentions- spreading the word about God- but ultimately it's up to these four men to decide what music they do and do not want to produce. They're not wrong in any way, shape or form for making a personal choice about how they want to be labeled.

  • It saddens me to see the to comments are negative, religious fanatics saying that after being labeled something they're not that The Fray disproves it. Why does it matter to you Christian folks? If they weren't labeled Christian Rock would you have never listened to them because God even knows you extremists of the Christian Religion are actually closed minded as fuck. You believe if it's not part of your church or your beliefs it is worse than it could be. The Fray is a great band. Enough said

  • Personally, I'm an atheist. But I love The Fray, and whether they label themselves as Christian or not, I'll continue to listen to their music..as long as they don't start shoving religion into it.

  • @rashgoesrawr its a choice!

  • @rashgoesrawr It's not a religion it's a relationship with God!

  • @carlos196712 Shut the fuck up and get that goddamn bible out of your ass. It is a religion. You worship a deity that's supposed to be omnibenevolent(which if any of you people would actually open your eyes, you'd realize that, technically, your God isn't omnibenevolent). It is a religion. Not a relationship..unless you're a crazy person.

  • Wow well I'm kind of disappointed.

I'm happy they ARE Christian but I just wish they'd use their wonderful talent for Jesus.

    Still a good band though

  • Everybody's seeing this so black and white, it'll be the death of you. Singing about jesus is redundant, i mean, that was so two thousand years ago. People have strong emotions outside of the intangible realm of religion. love is felt by everyone, whether it be for god, or a woman, or a man. religion is callousing our emotions.

  • There should be no difference between a christian band and 4 christians playing in a band. You should show your faith through everything that you do.

  • christian music is shit

    god isn't real.

  • you guys are frikin couards sy u r a christian band u know u are.

  • u guys are couards

  • I dont know why Christians are so upset. If that's what they stand for, that's what they stand for. I loved them even though I dislike Christian music and quite a bit of people who practice the religion [of course not all :]] and people who actaully were there fans really wouldnt give two poops. This is a stupid debate.

  • i'm the very same way as them. i write about myself because it's what makes me happy. there are enough bands "spreading the word." I want people to relate to me, not feel like i'm preaching to them.

  • LOL ironically @superiorgreen 's account has been terminated due to repeated copyright violation. This is the problem: Judging people for not being Christian enough, yet themselves breaking the law. I hope more Christians feel free to just be artists and speak rather than adhere to a Christian Music industry model.

Be free people. Love Jesus and be yourselves according to how God calls you.

  • @superiorgreen Music is a language. Is every word you write online preaching Jesus love? Do you preach to people you do business with ALL THE TIME? How about when you go shopping? If not, you're being hypocritical. Not everything we say has to be the gospel. How we LIVE, love and forgive is a stronger witness.

  • @superiorgreen Furthermore, some Christian artists who aren't in the so-called "Christian Music Industry" change lives and the world. Artists like Peter Garrett, Bruce Cockburn, and Bono for example. Others like Mumford & Sons, Lenny Kravitz, Van Morrison, have simply done their best to follow Jesus. Who are you to judge what God's asked them to do?????!

  • im glad they didnt claim to be a "Christian band" they make music for us to hear not for jesus to be contemplating problems about "where did he went wrong, he lost a friend" hahaha.

  • These guys are unsure of their convictions. I don't see them lasting too long. I am a professional musician and we played with these guys. They have called themselves a christian band and in this interview they have contradicted themselves. I just lost all respect for them.....it's a shame.

  • Isaac grew up as a sheltered church child and said on an interview a lot of stuff of what he thought of God. I'm not trying to rude but just give them a break. Their music is great, they're funny and nice, so why does it matter if they said that?

  • huh.... :( that's too bad

  • Why can't you stand up for God, guys you're going to be made fun of for being Christian. All Christians are. Just take it as it is. That's disappointing.

  • Why don't you all accept, that they are totally convinced of their decision? Why do you have to blame those people ungodly. you're fundamentalistic, you're the people which base dictatorship in so-called theocracies. Let them do the music they want to, stop being jealous on their succes and please get serious again, because the people out there, the majorities will just keep laughing about you, if you continue to act like this.

  • What good will it do for people to win the whole world and lose their lives? Or what will a person give in exchange for life?

  • Jesus doesn't condemn, if you are a Christian you shouldn't condemn... we shouldn't walk in flesh but by the spirit... when you hear their song, what does your spirit says?

  • They are secular because they feel God is calling them to the secular market to shine his light there.

  • If i could use a my talent for the Lord i would.

  • In my mind, their music is very well done. it's not bad and does not talk about sinful things, but it isn't exactly praising God. So I listen to it. However, i am not satisfied with how they did the interview. It seems to me they were avoid trying to sound like christians, but you must boast in the Lord. Like when he says

"Our roots are in church and our beliefs in spiritual things"

While he could have said our beliefs are in God. Spiritual things can mean so many different things.

  • I love Christian music as much as the next guy... but it's a religion -- not a genre of music. I love the fray; if they were a specific 'Christian" band, they might very well not be as successful;

The mainstream-popular song Be My Escape by Relient K really got me into Christianity -- and if the song was never played on the "hit music station", I don't know if I'd be a Christian or not.

I just know that The Fray's music is still spreading the love of Jesus and leading people to Christianity.

  • You know... That's REALLY sad! People who loved God and sang Christian music go off and sing bad music A.K.A unGodly music JUST so they can "Get out there"! If they were REALLY Christians they wouldn't need to " get out there"... they would be happy praising and ministering God's word! That's just sad!

  • @TheSarahmb9 their songs are not ungodly. None of them have to do with what most popular songs are about which is sex, drugs, partying, and violence. Most of their songs have christian morals. I think it is good that there are christians who are making popular music so listeners dont get the idea about premarital sex, drugs, violence. etc. I am a christian and it is what i plan to do with my music that i write. btw, You Found Me is a Christian song. I do see how sad it is how Joe answered this.

  • @FheTray1 What do you mean by Joe answered this?

  • @FheTray1 So your telling me that in the song you found when they say " you found me laying on the floor where were you" is Christian?!?! They're saying that God was to late! But, he wasn't! They were!

  • @TheSarahmb9 you know what, bands automatically limit their audience if they are slapped with the 'christian band' label. They're music will reach more people. The Music still has the same spirit behind it, only now more people will hear it which means more people will see that there are awesome bands out there that base their music in the Spirit of Christianity. And that is a good thing, not a sad thing.

  • @4748ravenmosher4748 Whatever....

  • @TheSarahmb9 wow, what a come back.

  • It takes a lot to say you stand for Jesus, you want everyone to like you so you play both sides. I love the fray but thought they could have done better then this kind of explanation. I would of thought them to be a little more couragous, oh well, just another "celebrity" thats afraid to say Jesus...dissapointed but like their music.

  • @coolgirlz1011 This is a rather close-minded view dont you think? =/

  • @coolgirlz1011 yeah wouldn't but not being a "christian band" allow them to reach more people? you don't have to be a christian band to have a christian message. being a christian is about leading by example. they're a good example to people and if anyone asks "how do i become like you" THEN they get the opportunity to say "follow Christ" christian bands only appeal to christians. non-christians are repulsed by them. plus i'm sure God won't be mad if you sing about his other creations.

  • Comment removed

  • Isaac basically puts it like this: Jesus' parables used situations people could relate to, but still taught important morals. @belegron So you're saying Jesus was lukewarm?

  • @WaffIeswarrioR no i dont believe @blelgron was saing jesus was lukewarm. bc JESUS wasnt lukewarm he was sent to teach us not to be lukewarm, to be a total sold out christian for Him or to be in the dark with out him!

  • "Christians" who dont want to be labelled as Christians in a secular world... that's compromise if I ever heard it and true Christians know what Revelation says of those who want to be lukewarm. There is no other way: we are either all in or all out.

  • It would be nice if they were a christian rock band. Then I could say there was actually a christian rock band that I liked.

  • They did it so that the public would listen. they have not quieten their voice. In fact they have made it louder. In the world not off it. In order to do this they have made the necessary decisions. They speak to millions about Godly principals now through their lyrics.

If thats the way you look at it than they are more of the fence than you.

    Plus they are flippen amazing!!

  • to be honest when i heard they were a Christian Band i was like wow this is what Christian music should be like because they never mention God yet you understand it that way. I don't like Christian music though i am am Christian and its because it is not as good as main stream music so i thought wow when i heard of this band. It's too bad cause i think you just afraid it might hurt your couriers but for me it made it x2 as good so don't be afraid and not all song hav to mention or talk about God

  • thats not right, to say your roots come from church but your not a christian band !!!!, those that are on the fence like that are not from the body of Christ because when u light a candle u should give light to the world not hide it and play it down so u dont limit your career.... just not right .

  • im glad they go to church but they should really give all them selves to god. you cant be hot and cold at the same time.you either give your all or nuthing

  • That guys the group leader? But he's more of a back up singer. Lol

  • you know ..... there are more religions than Christianity .... =P

  • For this world, you will deny Christ ..... or "peel off the Christian Rock label" as the media wants to put it. Be Christians proudly, or be famous rock stars. Lukewarm will be spit out!

Satan: "If you deny Christ I will make you rich and famous, this world will love you"

    Fray: "OK!"

Satan: "Tell them you are not a Christian band, you are spiritual."

Fray: " I mentioned church, and the media ran with it. We are a spiritual band."

  • Superiorgreen, um...got Satan's number? How'd you get the exclusive? And Oh, tell the Jesus South Park and The Frey and Obama is coming for him...um... and for you too. RUN DUDE! RUN!

  • Scripture says it is 666, but he has many numbers, faces, names, and voices. You know them by the evil works you see. You'll see more and more, as Satan's time gets short. Where are you going to run? What does Obama have to do with a lukewarm "christian" band?

  • You have this all wrong. They never denied Christ. They still have Christ in their hearts, but they do not have to make music about Christ. They do not have an ultimatum as you put it : "Be Christians proudly, or be famous rock stars"

That's very blatant. It doesn't matter what you do or how you "label" yourself. As long as you reflect God's love through everything that you do.

There are plenty of artists out there who are passionate Christ-followers but are in the secular music industry.

  • If they KNOW Jesus, Do they have better things to write songs about? Is money or the music the choice to go secular? When given the opportunity to sing to the world the Good News, they choose songs about THIS world. Disappointing, that's all.

  • you have a good point

but its their choice, at least respect it

  • @superiorgreen i agree with you

  • @superiorgreen ...agreed

  • @superiorgreen Should the hand criticise the eye?

Why should all christian musicians be preachers or worship leaders any more than any other profession?

There's such a concept as being a Christian in one's workplace and being Jesus to people rather than preaching Jesus. As per Francis of Assissi's "Preach the gospel at all times, when necessary use words".

  • @superiorgreen They are trying to bring the word of God to the secular market. Not choosing the ways of this world against the ways of Christ.

The Fray are a very strong Christian band and lets not judge them.

  • @ZackTM21

You said: "The Fray are a very strong Christian band..."

    They said:"...but we're not a Christian band."

Something doesn't seem to match up...

  • @superiorgreen dude their are much worse things in this world than a band who are christian who dont play christian music. Also its not disappointing, god has a plan for all and if he planned for them to play good music like they do then so be it

  • @superiorgreen So completely agreed!

  • they're christians. but they dontwanna be labeled a christian rock band. for those who dont understand

  • Jesus doesn't condemn, if you are a Christian you shouldn't condemn... we shouldn't walk in flesh but by the spirit... when you hear their song, what does your spirit says?
