@balitaSR Too bad le mans isnt just a "little thing". Pretty worth noting if you ask me. But i see you are a peugot fan boy... so this will obviously be lost on you =|
@bharvey2010 Now where did I say it is just a little thing? Come on. I am no Peugeot fan by the way. Sportsmanship and racecraft are what I like. Whatever the team or series or even sport. But your reaction could be that of an Audi fanboy. Just so you know.
@balitaSR You are very correct my comment could indeed come across as a fan boy comment. But I assure you I am in a similar boat as you, I just enjoy motor sports in general...
@bharvey2010 so life's good then, haha! No really, Peugeot still feel like shit for loosing at Le Mans despite all other ILMC wins. They screwed up but their car proved its superiority on most aspects. By the way what about Toyota? Bet they will score some interesting results next year. Can't wait!
i still tihnk the 8908,s a better all around car ...looking at the results from the inter le mans series , however well done to audi ,great car ,i was at le mans this year .
Diesels should be banned... they suck... sound terrible.... And in the whole intervew, the didn't talked about the engine once, and that i think is the first time i see a journalist don't mention the engine of a racecar...
@weed46 Only a single turbo in this car. The whole point though is endurance racing. I don't like the diesel race cars, the rules have been bent too far in their favour but, this is an incredible endurance racing car.
@weed46 Are you fucking nuts? 1600HP? Dude most Porsche race cars had a maximum of around 250HP. The only exception would be the Porsche 935, but even the 935 'only' produced a maximum of 845HP and most 935 race versions only had 590 to 650HP.
And anyways, LeMans is an endurance race, the engine has to last for 24 hours straight at the absolute performance maximum. And I think that fact that this 'pathetic' diesel beat all the other petrol cars speaks for itself.
@ratmtbolaOh really? So tell-me why the regulations let the diesels run with 3.7 liters twin turbo engines, and petrol cars can only have 2.0 turbo, or 3.4NA engines? because if petrol cars could have 3.7 liter engines with twin turbos, they would kick the diesel in the midle of the next week. Diesel win because rules dictate so...period
Do some reaserch on the porsche 917, STFU and Learn. Flat-12 engine of 4.5, 4.9, or 5 litres,0–124 mph (200 km/h) in 5.3 seconds. 1580hp in Can-am series 1973
@weed46 Okay you're right, there actually were 1000HP+ racing cars, seems like I overlooked the 917. The thing is that the turbocharged high power versions of the 917 were only raced in short, 1-2 hour races like the Can-am series you mentioned. For the 24 hours of Le Mans they only used the much less powerful naturally aspirated versions which actually didn't have any more power than this Diesel Audi R18.
@ratmtbola I don't mind the diesel in racing, but let they have a own category on it's own, don't kill the nice engines a great sounds.... I miss the sound of the great LMP cars... Petrol still is the lightest a most powerfull enigne, it's no sense replacing it for something that's slower, has less caracter, and kills some of the fun.
People that actually go to the ractracks to watch races, do know what i'm talking about.
@ratmtbola except for the 1200 hp version that set a distance record that held from '74 (i think that was the year) until last year... and then there was the pink pig... but that only had one race
whats the power to weight ratio ?? is more about speed or handling ?? or both ??!! ive only seen them on Forza Motorport and all i know theyre as u say really really special cars!!
@qlimaxseeunextyear LMP1 cars can't weight under 1100kg due to regulations, in terms of Aero the rules are quite flexible that's why you get huge downforce and thus handling, as for the speed, Engine sizes and air intakes for the turbo are limited by regulation but even with those limitations cars can output around 700hp with a billion Nm torque... Ok i m joking but 1100-1300Nm of torque which is HUGE, so yes they are fast! 220mph on Lemans straight and can reach more easly if given enough room
@cmac1021 Without Peugeot LMP1 would be as boring as shit, And no that's racing there is no cheating in such manouvers althout I didn't like how the way things turnout for Audi this year
@InitialDAmine It is not "by the books" cheating, but it is dirty and frowned upon. The commentators all had something to say about it when it happened. Racing is a gentleman's sport with a lot of unwritten "etiquette" rules. Something the French obviously don't respect, but what else would you expect from the country that produced Alain Prost?
@Molo9000 Did I say they did? No, I said they drove dirty at Le Mans. Oh and the one they didn't win, which race was that? Was that Le Mans? The only race that matters?
Hahahaha poor losers, the only thing they can criticize about Peugeot is that they did not stick to some fictional etiquette rules. We all know most of you do not have an Audi,or even drive.
BTW Peugeot was already winning LeMans against the big names (Toyota,Sauber,Jaguar) when Audi was recovering from the shock of Group B and Pikes Peak defeats.Just saying
@joako2706 You're calling the winners of 11 Le Mans races since 2000 "losers"? Hahahahahahahahaha god you French clowns are so pathetic. Your only defense is some races they won in the 80's. Seriously what's the expression, "what have you done for me lately"?
No I am calling losers all Audi fanboys like you, whose only concern is dagrading supporters of other teams. If Peugeot is such an irrelevant company why do you post a comment about it ,being the matter of the video absolutely different.
BTW Peugeot has also won in Indycar, their engines powered F1 cars ,so you better start reading little illiterate and do not pretend your VW is an Audi, cause IT IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE.Cheers
@joako2706 No I just posted a pokey comment about Peugeout at Le Mans and all the little cheese eating Peugeot fanboys freak out. It's called competition, don't get butthurt kid I'm just messing around. And oh, all these "you don't even drive an Audi" comments are getting old, why don't you check out my page and WATCH me driving my Audi. Maybe your daddy can buy you an old S4 when you get your license in 2 years you 14 year old. Internet is a rough place kid, gotta have thick skin.
Just to make it clear.I am 20 and drive an Alfa 159 2.2 JTS,I have never had a soft spot for Audi or any German manufacturer by the way,but I do reckon their (possitive) obssesion for over-engineering.
BTW why is so important that we all watch driving your S4???.This prototypes do not bear any relation to production car other than the badges. No offense intended/taken fella.
@cmac1021 It's funny when you think about it, The Germans started 2 massive Europe wars, and invaded France both times, and kill 80,000,000 people in both wars. Yet everybody still hates the French.
@inLeMans Would you rather win Silverstone or Le Mans? Spa or Le Mans. I thought so. And Audi doesn't cry until Peugot can't race at Sebring because their car is too fast like Peugot did in 2010. Fuck the French.

@xGabicca It is as powerfull as a stock petrol road car, so you tell me how amazing is that for race car...
Porsches from the 60's and 70's with engines with less than 5 liters of displacement, made 1100hp in race trim, and near 1600hp in qualifying trim....
This patetic diesel with 2 turbos can only do 650hp... we are going backwards...
