  • We camped at the old Luss camp site early/mid 70's and we used to watch this boat sail past, happy days:)

  • Come on the Maid , she might destroy the monopoly that Sweeney boats have at Balloch and she would certainly be a crowd-puller. She hasn't sailed for 30 years and by the dedication of her wonderful volunteer crew , she has survived the misfortunes of previous owners and now on the historic ship list.

  • looking good, used to see it in the 50's, went by in the late 80's and she was a sorry state and listing, joined the PSPS, they and the council thankfully managed to save it from ruin, but mostly its been down to the volunteers who have brought it back from the brink, well done and I wish them every success.

  • @noelist I am one of the volunteers on the maid and its comments like yours that make our jobs worthwhile for others to enjoy this ship and hopefully get it sailing in 2013.

She will be 60 years old then.

Thank you once again on behalf of all the volunteers.

    Trevor Hall.

  • Bear your breast and dip your toe in the watter! xxx

  • i went on a cruise upon this ship when i was about 7 in 1975-6

  • Did it ever have a yellow funnel?

  • Yes. There's some pictures on the Tramscape web site. They don't seem to allow links to be entered into a comments box, but if you do a Google search on "Tramscape Maid of the Loch" you should find them.

  • Thanks, I have vague memories of it being yellow and an all white hull.

  • Good to see views of this steamer; it would be really good to see it working again.
