So I had my IUD inserted yesterday morning, a few days before I would start my period, and it was DEFINITELY painful (especially since I have never had kids before). Felt like the very painful cramps I would get during my periods. And now, I can barely sleep because I would get really sharp cramps every 10 minutes or so :( I really hope the pain goes away soon. When does the cramping and spotting go away?
@roneLAx I'm sorry to hear you had such a painful experience, it hurt me pretty bad too. Usually the spotting and cramping should go away after a couple of days, but if it lasts longer you may want to call your doctor. Best of luck to you :)
@sheenashine17 Turned out the symptoms were caused by the new GI bug. I was lactating due to the IUD. And the heavy bleeding has returned, so I am going to get it removed.
I had my iud put in like 2 months ago and since then I been bleeding and its crazy cuz normally my period is irregular so I'm not used to having a period this long.. but the insertion was not bad at all it only lasted for about 5 seconds literaly but the only dislikes about it is the bleeding and when about 2 nigts I tried to have sex and my fiance stopped after like 10 seconds cuz he said somethin was pokin him and he didn't like it.. but other than that it was ok :)
@HawAiiaNMaMi757 That sucks that you had so much bleeding from it, everybody is different. My husband felt it too the first time we had sex after I got it put in and I had to go back to the doctor and have her cut the strings shorter. (which was scary) That's good that it didn't hurt you getting it inserted cuz it sure hurt me. :(
children or not you need to take some pain pills, i had two kids and everytime in or out, it was agonzingly painful for the few minutes of removal, it all depends on how your body is made. like i said i had two kids and my doc told me afterwards that i have an unusally small cervix. its diffrent for everyone. i'm glad it worked for you, i tried it three difrent times, as well as the copper one once. im allergic to copper and the mirena moved inside or caused other issues.
@rooskayaLUV You're right everyone is different, and for me it really hurt going in, but not so much being removed. My two friends that had kids said they hardly felt it, but yeah it does depend on how your body is made. I'm sorry you had such a painful experience that does not sound like fun.
@sheenashine17 lol, i had it three diffrent times hoping it would take, but my body couldnt handle it, the second time around it worked great but then a year in it moved, thank goodness i go in for my yearly..lol i kept trying and i still wish i could, cause the convience of it is awesome, and it has worked for many people. and it's not painful for everyone, so i think everyone should try it atleast once. cause you never know.i meant it was agonizing going in and hurt as well coming out..lol
I just wanna say this video was great. Im 19 years old and ive had the iud since i was 15 so since i was so young and havnt had a child yet they put me to sleep to put it in. And i am now wanting it taken out bc im having a lot of problems with it weight gain tiredness no energy and no sex drive at all. So i was wanting to no how u would rate the pain of the removel and how it all happens. Thanks :-)
@street2011 You're lucky they put you to sleep when you had it put in, I wish they would have done that for me. It was like night and day when they removed it, I only felt a small cramp when they took it out. So you have nothing to worry about. Best of luck to you! :)
6wks after my daughter was born in 2007 i got mirena, had it 3 years. we decided we wanted another child. had it removed dec2010, so after 7 months of trying to conceive no luck. i have only had 3 periods in the last 7 months. and all i have read is how difficult it is for others as well. i think it messes up ur body. i really regret getting an iud.
@juicyhotmess yeah I hear ya my doctor just put me on provera to force AF to come, but I did have irregular cycles before. My friend had hers removed and got her period back right away and conceived in three months! I hope you get your BFP soon :-)
Did you experience cramping and spotting after it was inserted. I got my Mirena today and im experiencing cramping and spotting. Im wondering how long this will last.
@DiaSoButtaButta I did experience spotting for a couple of days, I didn't really have too much cramping, but that's a totally normal symptom. I also had some spotting the day after I got it removed and I was kinda sore/crampy for a few days. :( I hope this helps.

@Okalani5000 Wow that's crazy, I have heard of some rare cases where people get pregnant with the Mirena.

@sheenashine17 It's all good, at least I am not pregnant, considering my boyfriend left me over stupid stuff.
