  • awsome video, what a beautiful engine and whistle.

  • Hey SkilledRailroader great video! If you railfan the Hamilton sub Im at mile 69! Great video

  • that whistle sounds better than the air operated one

  • N&W and CPR Built em' good....

    Cant resist that whistle.

  • The whistle used here is a pull cord. The other whistle is air operated and used more because its easier on the crew's ears. Many other CPR engines had the same setup.

  • Actually, 2860 was given the dual whistle. The original was a squeeze type trigger that only sounded full on or full off, such as the one heard on 2816 here. The other 2860 whistle was pull cord rescued from a Shay and could be "chimed", but I love the original whistles, They send shivers up my spine.

  • I bet the air operated whistle sounds much better on a pull chord since it can be controlled more. I also learned its off of a selkirk.

  • How come they don't use that whistle much? They never used that one when it ran through Winnipeg, they used the Ocean Liner one

  • Nice shot!!! Gotta luv CPR steam!!!

  • Brilliant, Bravo!!!

  • Finally, a beautiful whistle on 2816... Much better then that screamer that you couldnt regulate...

  • How cool is this, 2816 in all it's steam chuggin glory!

  • that's a awesome video!
