Do you think you could do a video on survival in England for students outside the UK? I feel like since you know a lot about studying abroad and I'm sure you know a lot about England, it would be very helpful.
I'm halfway 4 months in the US right now, and what you said about expectations is sooo true. I can really tell that when I feel homesick, it's just because I compare too much. If you just go along with it & enjoy it, you feel a lot better!
How scarey can Europe be?..........well if you need to acclimatise in a great European city with possibly the greatest cathedral in Europe then come to Lincoln.
I'm from Norway, spent a year in the US as an exchange student in high school, now I'm moving to England in 4 days to go to Uni where I'll be studying languages, and the 3rd year I'll spend abroad in Germany lol. Also, a bit odd that you talk about Europe as though the UK's not a part of it :P
very good advice! I studied abroad in the US for a year and studying in the UK (that's abroad for me too) now, so I can definitely agree with a lot of those things you mentioned
@TomSka Tom, you'd be the perfect person to ask! I don't know, I can't understand why its comes up all pixel-y on youtube. Is it something I'm doing or youtube? I don't think I'm compressing it at all, unless I am without realising it. Any help?
@masterlink101 It's different though as we are not connected to the rest of Europe, we are an island off the coast of continental Europe whilst Canada is joined to the USA.
This is perfect Laura, though I'm coming to England from Europe instead. :) And we met at SitC (which was lovely), where you were fooled by my "perfect" English. lol. But it's nice to see you make videos. :)
i am thinking about doing my PhD in Ireland or England... but that's 4 years and that's a long time... so i don't know yet ;) but i only finish my masters degree in 2 years, so i suppose i have enough time to think about it :)
i really like these abroad-videos :D (the preroll before this one's a bit annoying though, because i have to wait every time ;))
@oliwood2 when Brits say 'go to Europe' they mean the mainland of the continent rather than our rain drenched Island. Good vid Laura, know a few people heading out soon will show them this.
this is also usefull just for holidays abroad :) also check the voltages of any electrical equipment you are taking with you, just because you have an adaptor doesn't mean it will work :)
I am guilty of the "I drank water on my *time away*" (I spent six weeks in africa) And my family got so sick of it. I feel bad now, but I really missed it.
"This is the song of my year abroad" :D lol I say that all the time. Brilliant.

Good tips though. Wish I knew a few of those when I went to Costa Rica lol... Good video!

All sounds like very good advice. :-) But why close your bank account?
charlyandjosh 6 months ago
@charlyandjosh She probably opened a German bank account. But once she leaves Germany, she no longer needs a German bank account.
masterlink101 6 months ago
@masterlink101 Hmm... Yeah, I guess that does make sense...
charlyandjosh 6 months ago
@charlyandjosh There probably would have been too many service fees using her english bank account in germany for a whole year lol.
masterlink101 6 months ago
@charlyandjosh When I stop becoming a student in Germany, the bank I was with would begin to charge you so it is just safer to close it

@madbob73 Ah I see. I guess it isn't targeted too much at people who consider going to The Little Continent.

@oliwood2 When British people say Europe they are usually referring to eastern Europe and not England, Wales, Scotland or Ireland.
