I'm halfway 4 months in the US right now, and what you said about expectations is sooo true. I can really tell that when I feel homesick, it's just because I compare too much. If you just go along with it & enjoy it, you feel a lot better!

I'm from Norway, spent a year in the US as an exchange student in high school, now I'm moving to England in 4 days to go to Uni where I'll be studying languages, and the 3rd year I'll spend abroad in Germany lol. Also, a bit odd that you talk about Europe as though the UK's not a part of it :P

@masterlink101 It's different though as we are not connected to the rest of Europe, we are an island off the coast of continental Europe whilst Canada is joined to the USA.

i am thinking about doing my PhD in Ireland or England... but that's 4 years and that's a long time... so i don't know yet ;) but i only finish my masters degree in 2 years, so i suppose i have enough time to think about it :)

this is also usefull just for holidays abroad :) also check the voltages of any electrical equipment you are taking with you, just because you have an adaptor doesn't mean it will work :)
