  • Very well played and you have a nice sounding guitar.

  • lovely

  • Thanks Brian.

    Cheers,

  • Paul,

May I ask whether that mic is a stereo, and if so, what model? It seems like it would be a lot a lot less cumbersome than a pair of mics on a boom which is what I have, but it sounds very good.

    Neil

  • Hi Neil.

It is a stereo mic, but only a cheap one (Hitachi HMP606). I am playing through the mic into my HiFi and capturing that amplified and equalised sound on the camcorder.

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Thanks, Paul.

I haven't kept in practice these last couple of years, and working these details out might give me enough time to get the guts to

perform and put new stuff up You Tube.

    Best,

    Neil

  • Your video on Sor's not often posted piece is really nice.Smooth and connected notes.Sounds wonderful.

  • Thanks for watching Sagan. It is appreciated.

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Cheers K.

    Paul.

  • very nice.i love this etude,but i play it a little b. faster

  • Hi PG, glad to see you're still practicing :-)

Just a comment to prompt you to check out Diesel Bodene on youtube - he has a few nice jazz pieces.

  • Cheers Mike.

I see your snooze vid has hit the mark with YoJolina....boy can she play the guitar....dances too apparently!

    PG

  • You made your mic stand better - :-)!!!

    Very good again.

  • Cheers Conrad.

Yes I did. It is a very expensive attachment or it may just be an Engineering Mathematics book!!

All the best for the season and New Year my friend.

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Mery Christmas Paul!!! I'm so excited about Santa comming with all these presents!!!

    ______

I'm 14 so the answer to the question you are asking yourself now is "No" :-)

    ______

Happy New Year is I don't see you before NY - :-). Big Apple? no...

I'm not funny at all, I know :-)

    Regards,

I wish you all the best,

    Conrad

  • Smmmoooooth.

    --Van

P.S. I've heard you can help "break in" a new Guitar by leaving it in front of your speakers while listening to music. I guess it could work in front of your amp too. It "ages" the wood. Sounds good to me.

  • She is only sort of "new" Van....41 years young actually...I think she is broken in by now. The rest is all my fault!!

    Paul

  • Thanks a lot for playing Sor, who is in my humble opinion, the greatest composer for classical guitar ever. (Together with Barrios, Villa-Lobos and Tárrega ;))

  • Cheers BbMinor.

I agree entirely with your comment about these great composers. Sadly, as a self-taught guitar player (note I didn't say Guitarist!), most of the really beautiful pieces by these guys are way beyond me....but I will never give up!!

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Sounds good! why is it called segovia study? segovia made new fingering or what?

  • Thanks Liran. It is the 3rd one in Segovia's Twenty Studies For Guitar by Sor. This was first published in 1945 and was his choice of progressive studies from Sor's repertoire, edited and fingered by the man himself.

    Regards,

    Paul

  • I do enjoy playing "Studies for the Guitar by Fernando Sor" revised, edited and fingered by Andres Segovia. Most of them were recorded by Maestro, but few pieces were not recorded. It is a big shame for me and for the world of guitar.

    Regards, lute323.

  • Great play and melody expressed very clearly. Wander to ask u what the hacking book you down on your desk? My girlfriend Gabrilla told me say hey to you , she likes your renditions. AsGoodAsItGetsVidas

  • Cheers Vidas and hello Gabrilla!!

The book is "Engineering Mathematics" by Bostock and Chandler.....a hobby of mine!!!

It is not a desk, but an upturned wine-rack.

    Best regards to you both.

    Paul

  • Hey Paul!!

Great study you play it nice :-) That makes my day! Thank you! And great guitar! :-)

    Sarah

  • Hi Sarah.

Thank you so much! Never knew my squeaky playing could do that!!

    Regards, Paul.

  • Hi Paul,

WTG Wow i see that you are working on the segovia edition of Sor ,I just cant wait to hear the 17th Why not skip studies 4 to 16 and jump on it?

    Regards,

    Himanshu

  • Hi Paul!

I am second on 17th study request :)

    Regards,

    Dmitry

  • Hi Dmitry,

    No chance!!

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Cheers Himanshu.

    Now you are being silly!!!

I couldn't play No.17 on the old guitar either!!

Some years time possibly, but I suspect Dmitry will beat me to it.

    Take Care,

    Paul

  • Oh come on Give it a try! I gave it a shot and ended up playing it (with a lottttt of mistakes lol ) I agree that it is tough but Believe me it wont be that hard for "You" to play , dont post it as long as you dont feel comfortable but please work on it. Its my humble Request

    Take Care Dear Friend,

    Himanshu

  • Hi Paul,

Excellent job with the Sor study. Of course, 5*****!

    Cheers, Don

  • Hi Don.

    Thanks very much Sir.

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Dear Paul (Rex) hmmm... :-)

I love that study! It's so fun to play! And you make it sound nice too!!

Do you spend more time with that lady than Karin? BTW: I liked Mike's comment! LOL

  • Eh up Mr K!

    Thank you sir.

    Rex = Poker King!

    Reg = Poker Queen!

    Himanshu = Poker Prince

Vidas = too scared to play!!!

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Ah... I see! thanks... well than you have to add me to Vidas category! LOL

    You play grreat Paul!

    Really like your musicallity!

    Peo

  • I see you're teaching the new guitar the fundamentals. Good idea. Well done.

  • Indeed Mike...in the forlorn hope they may rub off on me!

    Little chance of that.

    Take Care ,

    Paul

  • Dear Rex,

Wow! That was terrific! Sor studies are great! Please post more!!

    An improvised mic stand!

    YTC,

    Reg

  • Hello PQ/REG/J/YEAHer....etc.

I will try to do some more soon. Op6 No12 is my favourite, but there are some nasty shifts in the minor part that are sure to produce a buzz or two, or three...ad infinitum.

Note the improvised mic stand only works on it's end, ie. it has to be empty!

    TC Julie,

    Paul
