What you've got there is a reflector, which means it has to go *behind* the signal--
Transmitter ---> Antenna --> Reflector.. Put it on the other side of the antenna, and you'll block your signals out. And that fading on the weather channel is most likely something moving between you and the transmitter-- maybe a plane, maybe some clouds... I wouldn't be too concerned about the trees.
@notvalidcharacters ... so in effect you're not boosting the signal, you're bouncing signal back to the antenna so it's got more to work with. This is how the Yagi (common rooftop antenna) works-- most of those elements are passive reflectors doing the same thing. Out of all those elements on a Yagi, only one is electrically connected.while the rest just focus more signal onto it. Pretty cool huh?
The only thing that you have to do is, keep the antenna or set it up to 5 inches against from each other. The aluminum panel will work better and set it up to the opposite side of those satellites dishes that you have around your neighborhoods. Thanks for your idea; I'm still improving too...
I enjoyed the information... I have a question.. you live in Laf. I do not live to far from there. I am going to build my own, but How did you display your signal strength on screen? I only have basic cable as of now and not pleased at all with the quality of my picture. Please reply.. anyone.
I MADE A ANTENNA AND IT IS AAAAA OK BUT NEEDED A REFLECTOR , I TOOK A BIRD CAGE APART 4 IT BUT HAVENT REMOVED THE PAINT YET. TINFOIL ...THATS A HELLOFA IDEA . I C THAT IM GOIN 2B ON THE ROOF SOON. THANKS MAN
Amazing! I have all my canadian channels, but cannot receive american ones since I live in a concrete appartment and there is trees in front of my window. But it works! How surprising! thank you for your patronage!
@Supermetatheria I made a coat Hanger HDTV Antenna, I am getting CBC, CTV, TVO Kids, CW23, one french channel and mytvBuffalo(some times). How many and which channel you are getting. I live near donmills and overlea Blvd.
@mohdali4 You are at Toronto. Can't tell for sure, since I live in Montreal. Do a internet ressearch to see witch local TV providers are in your aera. Maybe this can help you (remove spaces) freetoronto. tv/
Appears all the TV transmitters are in the same direction, or neatly so from your home, lucky The downside of the reflector it haves an antenna direction, and wouldn't work well for those who need to receive a signal from both directions
I'm Thinking a Piece of galvanized Rabbit fencing ( 1"x2" openings) would work perfectly as a reflector. I have a whole roll of it I use on other projects.
@LaneVid i forgot the live show again :( and ya u flash the router with dd wrt its linux but the wifi dish out side put the router some where inside and it repeats the signal so its free hope fully after i get it up i can get enof to fix my psp so i can hack online

Experiment on, dude.
