I like including dogs in the hunt. It's a bit more challenging, considering a deer is ALOT faster then the typical hound dog. We're comparing a dog that runs 15-20 mph to a deer that goes 30-35 mph! big difference!

About how much land ya'll have up there? We're down in Oxford and Creedmoor. Riverside sportsman club. Running primarily beagles and a few walkers. But we're running into land issues. Part of reason I didn't buy some walkers here recently. How ya'll season going so far? We killed 5 opening day, but they didn't turn the walkers loose or we probably would've trippled that.
i live in edenton right on the side of the Big woods...chowan huntin club is my backyard...wish i woulda found this earlier, somebody turned a dog out with no colar or it got loose, i didnt want it and nobody lost a dog or at least me and my buddies could find anybody that did so i turned it back out. let me know if you want it and i'll hold it for ya if i see him again

this block of woods is pretty big and it was some guys down in the block so i didnt get close to the chase. thats why you didnt see the deer. if you hunt with digs you should know that. and like i said that was only 3 dogs running!! but we do pretty good up here in NC!!!

I hunt in Scotland county, there on the Robenson County line. It provides a great adreneline rush. A lot better than sitting in a stand for hours on in without seeing anything (although I DO hunt like that, and love every single second of it) I just love the sound of the hounds better.
to start out we kill every cow horn we see or any other bucks with unperfict rack due to inbreading and any does that are too old to bread and have young . and any other week looking deer in the heards.

the land in warren county cannot support the number of deer we have(not so they can grow to record book size) we simply dont have the agriculture to do that. so if you look at the fact that the "trophy hunter" only takes a couple deer each year only that only adds to the problem! fact is we are in Pike county ILL. and we cant expect those results. i have personally spent thousands each year on my hunting lease with my bro-n-law and not everyone can do that! i welcome all hunters power is in #'s!
i do get your point about dog hunting. and most trophy hunter are part of heard management program of some sort. there are 19 members total in our 2 clubs and we take on average 10-15 deer per person. and most our wives and kidds and visitors kill maybe another 20--25 deer every year. and then if the herds are still to thick in other areas we take more out.
i would just love the chance to help you guys develope your hunting land into prime hunting land in as little as 3 years. its a great program and it does produce. weve had great luck in areas were there was even alot of dog presure. i just want to help . every year they vote and the dog hunting line is getting closer and closer to the ocean. and in a few years the will be no dog hunting. when no dogs are present u can see deer on top of deer all day. well if i can help let me know.
and i like to let you and your club members exsperience that. plant you food plots. grow your buck as big as you want them. by doing selective shooting and keeping the doe to buck ratio down too 1-3 and man let me tell you when the rut is on its on. im mean to just be able to get a 130-165 class buck every year out off each hunting area you have. hay when its good its good. and we have 5 different locations with 1000-3500 acre tracts with nice bucks to hunt

It's not a color thing when it comes to dog hunting, some just dont want us to be able to let them rip. Who wants to stock a deer from a tree. A deer stands a chance with dogs running behind him and he knows you are there. Those 3 dogs are really doing it up, running every breathe.

About how much land ya'll have up there? We're down in Oxford and Creedmoor. Riverside sportsman club. Running primarily beagles and a few walkers. But we're running into land issues. Part of reason I didn't buy some walkers here recently. How ya'll season going so far? We killed 5 opening day, but they didn't turn the walkers loose or we probably would've trippled that.

If that were the case the MDWFP would not specify certain dates for dog hunting. There are just as many dog hunters as still hunters here, mostly the older guys. this block of woods is pretty big and it was some guys down in the block so i didnt get close to the chase. thats why you didnt see the deer. if you hunt with digs you should know that. and like i said that was only 3 dogs running!! but we do pretty good up here in NC!!!

I hunt in Scotland county, there on the Robenson County line. It provides a great adreneline rush. A lot better than sitting in a stand for hours on in without seeing anything (although I DO hunt like that, and love every single second of it) I just love the sound of the hounds better.
Its more of a teamwork type thing.

you make some valid points. but i think you have dog hunting pegged wrong! dog hunting expands hunter numbers and keeps the deer pop. down! most people that hunt with dogs on sat. still hunt during the week like myself. i also have managed land to still hunt on and it is great fun planting food plots and watching deer in a calm setting. but if it wasnt for the excitement of dog hunting i would've never been a hunter & its the same for many more. so i see your point but i dont think you see mine

the land in warren county cannot support the number of deer we have(not so they can grow to record book size) we simply dont have the agriculture to do that. so if you look at the fact that the "trophy hunter" only takes a couple deer each year only that only adds to the problem! fact is we are in Pike county ILL. and we cant expect those results. i have personally spent thousands each year on my hunting lease with my bro-n-law and not everyone can do that! i welcome all hunters power is in #'s!

i do get your point about dog hunting. and most trophy hunter are part of heard management program of some sort. there are 19 members total in our 2 clubs and we take on average 10-15 deer per person. and most our wives and kidds and visitors kill maybe another 20--25 deer every year. and then if the herds are still to thick in other areas we take more out.

i would just love the chance to help you guys develope your hunting land into prime hunting land in as little as 3 years. its a great program and it does produce. weve had great luck in areas were there was even alot of dog presure. i just want to help . every year they vote and the dog hunting line is getting closer and closer to the ocean. and in a few years the will be no dog hunting. when no dogs are present u can see deer on top of deer all day. well if i can help let me know.

and i like to let you and your club members exsperience that. plant you food plots. grow your buck as big as you want them. by doing selective shooting and keeping the doe to buck ratio down too 1-3 and man let me tell you when the rut is on its on. im mean to just be able to get a 130-165 class buck every year out off each hunting area you have. hay when its good its good. and we have 5 different locations with 1000-3500 acre tracts with nice bucks to hunt

well theres a loop whole in that law and my lawyer found it. and both my clubs use them alot. im not trying to be and ass but use the dogs for tracking the wounded. if you were to come hunt with me you would see what im saying about still hunting. ive went out with many of dog hunters and seen how thing work. im sory but theres just not much hunting skills involed. people who hunt with me they see deer all day long moveing from one feeding area to the other. not scared of anything.

i love to still &dog hunt! if i sit up a tree and wait for the deer to come out and eat how is that better than running dogs? its alot harder to shoot a running deer that knows something is after him than it is to look through a scope at a deer standing still! i do and love both! and why dont people say anything about hunting other game with dogs! like birds, rabbits, bear and hogs? dont be too stupid to see that we are all just enjoying the outdoors! so dont you be the fag! huntin is huntin!

The dogs sound real good makes me want to go out and run my hounds. Nice to see some black folks into deer hunting with dogs. I hunt in South Ga. on a small hunting club and we get down like that too.

The dogs sound real good. I haven't hunted deer with dogs in years, but its a nice change once in a while. We stick with our rabbit beagles around here. I don't know about this deer hunters supporting Obama stuff. Long as he doesn't pull a Clinton act and take guns away, I can say hail to the chief too.

i heard of poorboys. never hunted with them i think some of them guys were at the deer trials the last couple weeks in halifax and warren county! i had dogs only have 1 now the 3 dogs runnin in the video were my boys dogs he field trials alot does pretty good too!
