  • everything i have read says i need to lower sub-frame/CV joint/tie rod end,and its appearing to look like im about to begin a nightmare job,i just watched your video and will be attempting to go this route this Saturday,i will let you know how it went,im hoping and praying might upcoming nightmare turns into a peaceful dream due to your video,im changing a alternator in a 2001 Taurus, update soon and again thanks.

  • @Marksmanbbs Good luck man. The 2001 is a different model so my method might not work. Hopefully it will

  • @joestl314,,well,i have to say THANK YOU so much for saving me a lot of agony by watching your video, everything went smoothly today and i got my new alternator in and car back on the road in a couple hours, that's including the time wasted by listening to the fender benders, you know the friends that have their hands in their face and their elbows on my fenders telling me how they would do it while they wont even get a wrench and stand in the way, lol, anyways THANK YOU joestl314

  • @Marksmanbbs Well I put it off to the to do list for tomorrow(Sunday) and it will be done, the good news is the title says its a 1999 so im strongly looking at using your method and if this works out a great appreciation is due to you,Sunday night the answer will be and thanks again your post will help so many out here in the world of mechanics

  • Thanks! Exactly what it took to get the job done!

  • THIS ALSO WORKS FOR THE 1998 MERCURY SABLE DOHC..., but it took some choice wordS and some busted knuckles.. but the thing is this video does not SHOW how to reinstall it. (he gives a demenstration of how to).it is a lil bit more difficult. you got to install it upside down then flip it up so the pulley is facing the motor then shove it up as far as you can and turn & twist the alternator and then adjust it in place. its like tryin to fit a couch into a doorway. only fits one way. thnks joe

  • 2:37. Dat ass.

  • @Spazzikarp I got that Superbass!

  • what size nuts did you use?

  • Hopefully this works I got stuck halfway through I couldn't find a way to yank it out, I was thinking about removing the Crank pulley. thank God I found this video.

  • if it werent for your vid, I would have never gotten my atl out THANKS A BUNCH!

  • *Begins the not worthy wave* Sir...this is an A+ video. Finally I understand the technique people refer to with the alternator removal on a DOHC engine. Thank you!!!

  • Thanks! So you basically put those bolts on there just to take up space, right?

  • Thanks. I picked one up for $400 dollars because it needed this
