  • @ 2 cups of starter tea seems a lot and may lower the pH to much. Depends on how storng/acidic your brew is. In some batches that have been left for over a month you may only need 1 oz or two. Now if your batch is sweet then you'll need more starter tea...having some pH test strips or a meter makes sure you get the pH correct, which should start at 4.5 and the finished tea should drop to around 3 pH

  • I've noticed that if I add about 2 cups per gallon of reserve from the previous batch I never have a pH issue at all; also the brew turns out great every time.

  • I usually add about 20% reserve from my last batch to my new batches, which seems to work out.

  • So, what if the pH isn't low enough?

  • @lookin4space add cider vinegar or more previous tea

  • This is mostly good instructions but how do you get that nasty mushroom ? Pick it from someones yard and out it in muddy water? Why would you leave this step out? C-

  • @forktool it's not really a mushroom, it's a culture.

  • @forktool We have them for sale or you can get one from a friend that is brewing kombucha

  • @forktool buy organic kombucha tea at your health food store and grow your own from that, search for directions takes about 2-3 weeks for the "mushroom" to form

  • awesome tea its soooooo goood after you get use to it

  • Hey while im brewing the tea can i add a little yeast?

  • i should get a PH tester... i drink it, as i do grow them... but might not be drinking during the right time

  • from what i understand, you shouldn't use anything metal.

  • I could hardly understand what he said, the audio was very poor.

  • I started mine today

I hope I didn't kill it cuz my tea was a bit hotter than room temperature :O

  • Wooo. Culturing. I'm new to it. I use Congo red pH paper (tests for 3-5 pH).

    Bottling video?

  • Great instructional video! It gave me a bit more confidence about my newly adopted creature.
