Actually there are many good reasons to compare Star Wars and Halo, Halo is definately the "Star Wars of video games" because firstly it demolishes any Star Wars game sales, and secondly it actually has an active fanbase who do stuff like costumes etc. Thousands of Halo fans have made their own costumes, and there is a big website just for making Halo costumes, the 405th. Halo might not even be close as big as Star Wars, but it's legacy will last for tens of years just like Star Wars's

Both Halo and Star Wars are great Science Fiction tales with exceedingly good success and they dominate in marketing on their own areas. Considering that Halo is a video game and the amount of debth that has been fitted into the storyline makes it a decent comparison. I agree that in pop-culture it will never rise above the Star Wars franchise, none the less Halo should not looked down upon.
