it is kind of a happy ending because she realized she didn't want to live without her husband and they probably wouldn't get found so she decided to let the sharks take her and be reunited with her husband again. which i think is sweet.

I love diving,and ever since this film came out whenever I've been on an open water dive,people have made promises and oaths with other couples like,'If you don't see me and my dive buddy back onboard,you'll let the crew know,and vice versa' this film really scared alot of divers

Yeah I have a huge fear of sharks even when I'm in hawaii on a snorkling tour... I was like "are there sharks" and the owner on the boat goes "those men are looking for sharks, but we parked our boat in the middle for the other boats, so you're unlikely to be attacked.."

O.O "so there are sharks" and he goes "yeah on the other side of the island (very tiny island)"

O.O he wondered why I didn't pay extra to go scuba diving. ugh I was so spooked..

I think both sides are to blame for what happened. The dive company for not making sure everyone was accounted for before leaving the dive site and yet also the couple for taking off on their own and separating from the group while diving. I mean, the boat left the dock with a set amount of people, how the fuck could not they not do a count before returning to make sure they were all back onboard? But also, why the fuck would you go off on your own away fron the group, out in the open ocean?

What makes this really chilling is the way the camera keeps bobbing back up and forth with the waves, showing us quick glimpses of what's under the water. We only see a couple shark fins above, but looking below we see that she's surrounded by sharks around AND below her. The quick glimpses are more frightening than long drawn-out shots.

@Carjamrac she knew the sharks were eventually going to attack so she decided to drown instead of being alive and ripped apart by sharks. Drowning has nothing to do with salt content of water. Once you fill your lungs with any kind of liquid and you're a goner.

I enjoyed the movie 'The Reef' more than this. By the way this movie was based on the 2 divers that were left behind while diving in Australia.

@YoJo672 because they went diving and the boat didn't pick them back up (by accident) they got left behind and a few days later the man went back to his boat saw the bags opened them and saw there passports had a quick flashback of them not been on the boat on the way home etc.. etc.. and some fisher men caught some sharks inside were bits of the people i believe at the end of the movie were you see them pulling bits out of the sharks thats the real footage :)
