  • and if you get hurt your not going to want to do the flying triangle.... started cracking up when he said that.

  • These drills will help. thanks.

  • If anyone wants to know what to do in case of facing multiples?

    MULTIPLE FLYING TRIANGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Press 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2

  • @mikaeljay1 Omg lol, hahaha you are sick

  • @mikaeljay1 lol

  • @mikaeljay1

    Lmao thats hilarious

  • If u get jump by alot of people run if u cant then just try to hit them with powerfull punches/kicks that you now u can do fast and effectively.

  • wat if ,wen u pul his hed down ,he try to bait ur bulls lol

  • @12bmwxxx What if you learn how to spell and speak english? LAUGH OUT LOUD!

  • @MizterOrtiz dont feed the troll

  • how many times are u going to say that u are taller than him

  • quick question what if your attempting a flying triangle but the guy that your doin it to doesnt want to catch you and slams you? is slamming illegal in competition?

  • @JRoc14NSL in most it is

  • He looks fucking ready

  • His voice kinda reminds me of Mr. Garrison from South Park.

  • @Aimran479 lol

  • @Aimran479 mmmmmm kay.

  • sometimes you just cant think only of yourself and run, sometimes you have to save someone or get some things etc.martial arts doesnt promise we can beat em,but it surely helps considering only 1% of people out there are real fighters.=p

  • I promise to only use this move for

    self-defense.

  • @SirPreyasThe619 that,s good :)

  • awesome teacher !!!!!! if you press 2 on your keyboard fast, it looks wrong ! Haha

  • wish they had done it full speed

  • pretty cool, but if someone tried this on me, i'd slam them onto the mat so hard. :P

  • you cant do this shit with no gi. sorry but i'd rather train with no gi then with a gi. EDDIE BRAVOO is the bestt!

  • @xxxk213 Yes you can... He just explains with gi...

  • There Are So Many Flaws With This.... Push Forward And You Have Him In A Knot On The Ground, LOL

  • @Tyroniix not if you good at it

  • i have a question , is it easier or harder to do this move on an opponent thats taller or shorter than you (im about 6'4.5")?

  • @eragonbooklover725

If you're tall, probably harder, just because he has to fly up there, wrap his leg around your head and grab his own ankle in the air before he starts to come down too far.

  • Does the offender want his LEFT leg under the defenders RIGHT arm?

  • Who on earth going to wait till some body first grabs you and then jumps on you

  • Who on earth going to wait till some body first grabs you and then jumps on you :-)

  • I don't usually try to force this. The only time I ever go for a flying triangle is if I see someone shoot in for a single leg, puts them in perfect position.

  • @rednek316 only if there slow and stupid they will just hold on to the one leg

  • @saberman41 Not when they're holding on to it, when you see them shoot in for it. It doesn't matter if they're holding onto one leg anyways, if it's over the shoulder, they can't really slip their arm through, so the triangle is basically locked anyways.

  • @rednek316 no it isnt 1 leg is over there shoulder but there gonna hold ur leg and pass you

  • @saberman41 How else can you pull off a triangle if your leg isn't on there shoulder/over there neck? Good luck doing it when both arms are still in. but picture it, if he's in guard, his leg already passed over the neck, there's no point in holding onto the single anymore because he's gonna break it up with the triangle anyways. but we may be on 2 different conversations, are you talking about HG or FG?

  • @rednek316 what do you mean HG or FG? and u need both legs to finish they can just hold on to the one leg if its no gi stand up and they got 2 points for the take down you you dont get an advantige because i never got you legs connected

  • @saberman41 Half guard/ Full guard. If you've got full guard, you can definately finish it, and they're just stupid for holding on to a leg. If you've got half guard, it's just stupid for you to hold on to the triangle lol.

  • @rednek316 ug nvm dude u done understand what im telling u. do u know what someone is trying to pass someones guard they holy one leg with both hands and the other person has there leg over there neck but they CANNOT DO THE CHOKE because the other person is pinning the leg to the ground

  • @saberman41 Lol dude, nonetheless the pressure of that leg on their neck is going to break their posture. More likely then not, they're still going to finish the choke.

  • @rednek316 dude you dont get it never mind im not gonna try and explane it anymore

  • @saberman41 Lol shit's too hard to explain through typing right? Maybe we'll both go to ADCC, and you can show me what you mean then.

  • @rednek316 some day we may meet

  • @rednek316 your retarded rednek..

Saber is saying if some one is setting up the triangle for example he throws his left leg over the opponents shoulders BUT his right leg in being held down by both of the opponents arms.. if he doesnt abort the triangle attempt his gaurd WILL be passed unless he can free his right leg with an explosion and lock it in which is very unlikely.. the likely outcome is the guy throwing the triangle getting his gaurd passed..

  • @NoSVitaminC I'll stop you right there at "your retarded rednek". Don't make a grammatical error in a sentence where you're calling someone a retard. I don't see why people think it's cool to start arguments over YouTube, it's fucking stupid.

Also, it's hard to explain Jiu-Jitsu through texts, so there's still no need to throw "retarded" in there.

  • Comment removed

  • if you don´t have a gi or something like that???

Can i do something like this?

  • hey when you lock the triangle you want to point your toes to the ceiling of the leg you locking on it makes the choke tighter dylan was appyling pressure on his bent toes just tryin to help.

  • very nice, and good vid, nice that u take it step by step, plus u make it look a lot more simple, when u see it other videos it looks very complicated...

and what if i live in denmark, can I get your DVD in my country?

  • This was a super video. I found the move to be very complicated. I like how the Prof breaks it down by easy and SAFE steps. Otherwise, I´d hurt myself and never try it nor learn it. Good job Prof! Thanks for the lesson.

  • good vid, very helpful..

  • this is jiu jitsu great one

  • is this a no gi suitable technique?

  • @JKTCGMV13 hardly tbh...

  • yes

  • Just start out in like a wrestler's head to head stance

  • hey ari, do you know if keith knows James Gardner??

  • Does it matter if the guy in the blue and his left arm is on the inside or the outside? I think it should be on the inside in order to cut circulation, really then what i am asking is does the guy in blue have to have his arm under the neck or can it be be on the inside along the neck not under the chin,?

  • i'm guessing if he could pick you up then it wouldn't be a problem to punch him in the head or using your elbow there is no way he would stay balanced he would fall down and you'll get the triangle mount which is the best way to ground and pound

  • what if your fighting someone who can pick you up and slam you. then a triangle is kinda useless right?

  • after you get your leg over his shoulder you could wrap your free arm around the back of his leg so he can't posture up. canceling out the slam

  • completly

  • i'd imagine that if u stay tight, they should be out quick.

  • They have gis on so it is obviously a sports bbj slant but in the UFC people successful make people tap when the opponent is trying to lift then up to slam, you have to hook a leg with your arm.

  • We recently had a competition (Qatar vs Saudi) and we had a Filipino team member go for a flying move which missed and he knocked himself out. Seems like a nice move but really high risk. The again I am an old man so..

  • great stuff

  • i hate flying. love rolling tho. love it. 5/5

  • this is a nice technique for show, but not very practical

  • every time i see the rhino at the start of the video i get excited! KEITH OWEN RULES!!!!

  • you better know both or someones gonna be in a whole lotta pain and it won't be me!!!

  • And why are people arguing which style is better, BJJ or Muay Thai. They're both obviously different styles, and should be respected in their own way. After all, the first thing you learn when you first enter a dojo is respect.

  • you cant even compare the two bjj and muay thai, ones striking and ones grappling :P

  • I know, it doesn't stop people though. I was trying to say that, but I guess it didn't come out that way lol.

  • yeah completely diff sports, but thai boxing does have the clinch and takedowns i guess but your right

  • great video, keep them comin !

  • This is BJJ, not a street fight. How many times have people gone over this. Blows my mind. "Ohh what happens if there's 3 people trying to kick your ass, then what"? RUN, or get a weapon like Submissions101 said. Just because you learn Muay Thai, doesn't mean that your still not going to get your face stomped in k. Better to try to avoid getting jumped, by running, than to try to fend them all off. People shouldn't be looking to jump you in the first place.

  • exactly, its REALLY hard to fight someone whos behind you...

  • @XMMAFANX well muay thai, if you do and some guy in school or streets wants to kick your ass you can use mauy thai knowledge or any martial arts, some martial arts they do teach you to fend off multiple foesif 2 to 3 guys attack you tthey teach you certain moves *note most martial arts teaches you killing strikes likes knife hand to the throat, round house to the spine or tailbone, elbow downwards strike to the top of the head, all these moves are lethal , and fend off multiple foes.

  • @XMMAFANX I gotta agree with this. My good friend/jujitsu instructor who's a 10th degree black belt in kickboxing and BJJ will boast his 40 yard dash time. Hes not afraid to sprint away from a conflict if necessary.

Overconfidence and egos are huge causes of defeats.

  • @XMMAFANX well thats why you learn karate or krav maga

  • No offense but Jiu-Jitsu is not as good as people may think in a street fight as there is no rules and you need close contact, what keeps your opponent from biting through your flesh? Or stabbing you with a sharp object, or gouging your eyes for that matter... I would take Muay Thai over Jiu-Jitsu any day. But in a sanctioned match Jiu-Jitsu is required unless you are a godly wrestler...

  • It only takes a few seconds for black someone out in a choke.

If your opponent is in a tight choke, they don't have much time to think about what they are going to do next, but then to try and get their head out of the choke.

  • agreed. besides, when someone experienced in bjj tackles u down, bjj grappling is a lot better that muay thai....

  • no style is better than another :)

  • they better know how to sprawl lol

  • the answer is simple mma in other words both

  • BJJ against one person. take it to the ground they panic hold a month theyll freak out try to escape give u a limb. then u just submit them till they beg stop. or till their arm breaks....

muay thai agianst multiple opponents cuz its fast and powerfula nd with a lil luck and major technique you could knock all the attackers on there ass and defend yourself 1 vs 1 till the next one jumps in.

  • Hey, Between Brazlian jiu jitsu and muay thai, which do you guys think would be more effective in a street fight when your defending youself? thanks

  • muay thai- simple and direct.

  • you go to the ground somebody's gonna come along and stomp on your face. muay thai you can teep a guy's stomach and push him back. if you know how to attack you can put combos together effectively

  • C-C-C-C-COMBO FUCKLING FAILS. get some grappling xp. jesus, my bro is waaaay better at mt then bjj, (we both train mt and bjj) and even though hes 18, 100kg, and fucking awesome (sibling love), i can own him at bjj grappling. muay thai just doesnt give u the extra options.

  • combos fail? i haven't even laid down a full combo and it's already a fail? show's how ignorant you are

  • You can defend against multiple attackers with muay thai .

  • There are styles of Japanese Jujutsu that does this as well but it is just a silly argument. Let's make this very simple-you want to 'defend' your self against multiples? Forget Muay Thai, mma, or jiu jitsu. Buy a gun...the great equalizer.

Now that is over...let's all shut up and GO TRAIN!

  • LOL agreed

  • absoulutely agreed. forget the gun dude. GET THE DAMN RPG!!!

  • @Submissions101 unless your name is anderson silva

  • @Submissions101 guns are for pussies

  • @cdubb3 yeah u fight multipul attackers u get taken down ur done dont think ur a super master that will knock then out be4 they grab u

  • at first, i thought "shit, flying triangle!! this isn't teachable from a video!!", but then I saw Keith owen and doubted it.

    nice video,

  • excellent! I've wanted a video on this a for a long time.

  • He means just look it up on Google.

  • I believe Royce Gracie proved this theory wrong many years ago if im not mistaken.

  • You also can do this from rubber-guard position.

  • Excellent lesson!

  • Can we have the same with nogi?

  • When are you guys making a video on how to do Toby Imada's "Backpack of Doom"?

  • ok guys, don't try doin this in real life or in an mma match, you get slammed, spiked or whatever. (to do this, first of all posture up, use his upward momentum to lift him up even higher, and than SLAM him on the ground, preferably on his head). So, here's my advice, only use a triangle when you break your opponents posture, make sure you keep head control!

  • question... exactly wat prevents a rampage like slam???

  • well, your oponent has to be as strong as rampage :P

  • You also cannot slam in jiu jitsu. This is not MMA.

  • oooo ok... i didnt realize these videos were strictly for jiu jitsu... another quick question tho... What about the force of gravity... like every time i tried to do any "flying moves", particularly the flying armbar... but i tried this move once too... I always end up landing on my head... how can this be prevented?

  • You need to be supported completely by your partner, you need to practice these moves a lot, and try to stick you shin to your chest, you prevent breaking your neck on a fall

  • @Wrestlefan1 u grab his leg that way he cant or if he tries he will sweep himself

  • @Wrestlefan1 if in MMA, it can be prevented if you get the position BEFORE submission. angle your body off to the side, and it applies a LOT more pressure. Another thing you can do is underhook on of his legs with one of your arms if he tries to stand.

  • @Wrestlefan1 underhook the leg as u fall down

  • @saberman41 Yeah I though of that also...

  • @Wrestlefan1

there's also holding onto the hamstring.

  • cool move. i met keith owen once. he's really nice

  • great video-thanks.you are the best

  • sweet!!!

  • You gotta love the shameful plug at the end lol

  • @tinalafermy you gotta love the five minutes of free instruction that came before the plug is what I say

  • THANK YOU!

  • I do, very much so.

  • Are you SERIOUS? REALLY? How about using the internet like everyone else to promote something you love? I get a ton of emails weekly asking : does keith have DVDs or affiliate programs? So, I suggest to Keith, do a plug at the end so people will know.

Man...I can't believe I am responding to that one...(rolls eyes).

  • chill out, i never ment anything by that. I dug the video and if he wants to plug his stuff then he should. I was really only saying it in jest. appologies for sounding like a was hating.

  • this can also be used after a failed kick, and ur leg is stuck on the pthrr guys shoulder, and hes about to ram u. just jump and choke the sucker

  • @peeweemen1 just what I was thinkin

  • yes because how many times will that happen to you

  • twice. both ended in my thigh hurtin like fuck. NOT ANYMRE!!!!

  • question for submissions 101... do you actually use these in tournaments? because ive been in 3 tournaments and never seen anyone do this, only flying armbar is the only 'flying' move ive seen.

  • @2007niko2007 they say in the beginning the guy in the white gi has used it in competition

  • thanks mate i missed that

  • Its not the safest and more practical in tournaments. But whatever works for you.

  • @2007 There are several videos on the net of flying triangles. Now, this video has been requested for over 2 years. It is for educational purposes for those who wanted to know how it goes down. You many not be a high flyer (which is FINE)...so guys are...to each their own.

  • i was just asking if you used it in a tournament...

  • i tried it in a couple of tournaments; got the triangle once (gi) but couldn't quite lock it, went flying past his head once (no gi); but it's a bit of fun to try!

  • yeah i tried it out in training but my training friend decided to jump onto the floor and i hit my head and he got out pretty easy :( was happy for the 2 seconds while i was in the air though :P

  • Yeeaah!! today training this tecnic. Thanks Ari... (one cuestion: it´s posible the flying Tepee? )

  • Great instruction!

  • Wait..is Ari the blond guy in most of the videos that could probably kick most of our asses?

  • he's only a blue belt i believe

  • If I remember correctly, he's a black belter in japanese jiujitsu, purple belt in 10thplanet jiujitsu, and blue in brazillian jiujitsu....Not sure though, I'm not him :P

  • correct and I just train guys...Not a pissing contest and I've tapped plenty of times over the years...trust me ;-)

  • Let us know how that works for ya.

  • Works well, I kick some guys ass that weighed 175lbs and he was 6'1. And I'm only 120lbs and I'm 5'9.

  • ur 5'9 and only 120lbs?

haha im 5'5 and 135 lbs

  • I'm underweight I know. I have a super fast metabolism.

  • niskk

  • tried that

im a black belt in jap jits

rolled witha brown belt in bjj

    it was just embarrissing

  • nice to know, but im never going to use it :( im only blue belt they dont teach me stuff like this where i train

  • Who responds to the comments on these videos? I wondered if it was someone from the vids like Ari, or Keith, or if it was another person.

  • Its me (Ari) ;-)

  • Herro!

  • jeah!

  • btw i worked out why the color keeps shifting

its becuz ur shooting fluro lights try using a slower shutter speed

  • Yes, I will tell Keith that as well...the color correction and those lights do cause it to lighten and darken a bit. thanks buddy!

  • most people wont notice but hell its annoying

the thing is fluro lighting is actually not constant it, i cant recall wat what hz

so if u use a slower shutter speed the then camera thinks its more constant since u dont shoot frame in between flashes

mind you a slower shutter might not do since your shooting action

  • cool! thanks bud...Hope you liked the video nonetheless ;-)

  • always do mate no worries
