Great video, thank you very much for taking the time to record a very detailed video. Is just what I needed to finally get my first Violin. :) You are the best Angel. :)
I really like the way u teach :) AND think ur doing a good job with what u know
Ps. Rosin is used to help ur pitch be louder and whiten the bow. You also should not put ur fingers on the horse hair the oil on ur fingers turns it black and you wont be able to play as well
I am 14 with no musical experience and I do not know how to read sheet music very well. I am saving money to buy a violin and I wanted to see some tutorials and yours was the best I have seen! :D very informative and I hope to purchase a violin soon! Does anyone recommend a certain brand for a beginner like myself?
@SnowfurVodka I am also 14. And I did the same thing. I totally recommend Scherl and Roth violins. But be sure to order a "package' so you get a case, bow, and rosin.
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I just bought a violin for my 7 year daughter, and trying to set it up for her. You video really helped a lot. Thank you!
Nice, but gaahh lol.. You handle the bow real well, i just got my violin today and with each contact from the bow and violin it bounces the horse hairs bounce on the violin strings. Ill probily get used to it so its all good.
Interesting tutorial, (saved your vid) thanks for posting!! :) Maybe a mention on how to adjust the tuning pegs when we want to adjust the intonation??
I started listening to other lessons. One was a guy who wasn't being very helpful for a beginner. Another was a very angry sounding lady. Thank you so much for uploading these. You are very pleasant to listen to, and I'm finally learning enough to be able to get started. (I can't afford lessons.) So, thank you again.
I want to learn how to play the violin, but I am having a little trouble selecting one that is right for me. Is there a certain kind of violin that is specifically for beginners? Or are they all the same? If there are different kinds of violin, which do you recommend for beginners like me?
I recently bought a violin and when i tried to tune it, it wasn;t producing any sounds no matter how i tried to do exactly what is required, that was weird for a new violin.
God I haven't played the violin in so long. I played when I was 6 but I quit at 7 because my mom didn't have time to do it. And then I started playing it again at 8 but my mom realized the guy just wanted money so I quit again then I joined again when i was 9 but it was to expensive I left my violin in my closet for 1 year and now I wanna play the violin again!! How do you tune it? My violin is really out of tune!!
I WISH I HAD A VIOLIN. MY GRANDMOTHER SAID THAT IF I GET ENOUGH MONEY I COULD GET ONE oh sorry didn't realize it was on caps but you are the first one i will come to!
Thanks for this. I have always wanted to play. Now I'm inspired more. I'm going to begin. I like that you give all the necessary information and your teaching is easy to understand. Keep posting!
@traumateamfreakos Judging by the fact you are on YouTube, I'd personally advise a 4/4. Usually, a person aged 9 and above will play on a full violin, the 3/4 is a smaller one and is only used for small children =)
I have a question that no one gives me a direct answer for, I'm 5'2 very slim and under 100lbs what size violin should I use. I had one person tell me all that matters and another say just measure my arms. but online it went by age. Should I just buy a 4/4??
Please get back to me if you can. I am an adult but I don;t think that has anything to do with violin sizing.
You are the Best!! haha.. I've learned so much from you. :P Even though I don't have my own Fiddle to play. :) Thank you for this video!! It helps me a lot.

@aprofchef Her advice is good but the string might also need to be put in again and that's when you untwist the string and re-put it back in that tiny whole and tighten it
Thank you very much 'Angel' for taking time out of your personal life to put up this vid! I literally just purchased my violin today (I've never played before) and was very happy to find your instructions on Youtube!

By the way: Why can't I tune it like a guitar? I already played some songs with this tuning.
@KiltKaius as an advanced orchetra and guitar student is that even if the tuning sounds the similar it just means ur playing it on a different key than the actual song
thank you. Your gentle way has caused this big moose to learn. Have the music in me, and its looking for a way out. have violin and will learn, thanks to you.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. The reason you do not leave the bow tightened up is because the wood will bend and eventually keep that shape. You also should not leave violins or guitars with their strings tightened for the same reason-the neck can bend and eventually stay bent, assuming the body does not also cave in a little from the stress.
@CLUBxTOxDEATHxANGEL- Guitars don't really have that problem, the neck on a guitar is flexible but it's generally made form hard maple or mahogany, and is a lot stronger than a violin's neck. And guitars have truss rods inside the neck which adjust it. In fact it's inadvisable to leave the strings off a guitar because it gives the neck a back bow, which is worse than a front bow.
ive started playing violin 1 week ago and still im struggling on the notes. :( ive been playing guitar for quite sometime now and to tell you the truth, violin is a very hard instrument :) with the principles on fingering on guitar then switch to violin. it so damn hard!! hahaha
btw. thanks for this tutorial! hehe. helps me alot
thank you very much for your tutorial. i just start to play the violine and i already learned a lot from you. i dont have money for paying a pro teacher, so i appreciate your describtions very very much. thanks for your time make the videos and go on and i wish you all good things in life ^.^
Oh great. I actually started playing violin last summer.. haha! I wanna ask if you could teach me Vibrato. I am busy at school works that's why I can't attend my sessions. By the way, I'm Jina from the Philippines. If you have FB account please add me. Thank you. BTW, you're a great violinist. :) thanks. I learned so many things from you.. THANK YOU! God bless.. ^^
On your hand it looks really easy, i really want to try it out. Next time when i visit a music shop, i will look vor a violin. Maybe it works, thanks for the tutorial!
simple question- i am a beginner, learned to play pizzicato and simple stuff mary had a little lamb. Now i want to work with the bow, but i notice the hair on the bow is very close to the stick, i want to have the hair half inch from the stick, but using the screw wont work, is the bow defective, or do i need more rosin?
It was a Kennedy violin for beginners, also i notice when i use fretless stickers it makes violin out of tune, so i had to remove the stickers
@KubrickLives your bow stick should be fine. make sure to wipe the rosin off of your bow stick after use. you can do away with the fretless stickers. practice the sound of the music scales.
ei angel, uhhhh, can u please teach me how to read notes? i bought this manual along with my violin the other day, but i couldn't understand all the notes written, haha ^^V
wow a filipino,, ok good im proud, im starting to learn a violin also. and it helps me a lot in your lecture.. thank you your so nice and very relaxing.. oh by the way, how old are you?

@pizzaplanet101 yes, the Rosin goes on the bow hairs. Try not to touch the hairs with your hands that much because the oil can be damaging.

The reason you do not leave the bow tightened up is because the wood will bend and eventually keep that shape. You also should not leave violins or guitars with their strings tightened for the same reason-the neck can bend and eventually stay bent, assuming the body does not also cave in a little from the stress.
CLUBxTOxDEATHxANGEL 1 year ago
@CLUBxTOxDEATHxANGEL- Guitars don't really have that problem, the neck on a guitar is flexible but it's generally made form hard maple or mahogany, and is a lot stronger than a violin's neck. And guitars have truss rods inside the neck which adjust it. In fact it's inadvisable to leave the strings off a guitar because it gives the neck a back bow, which is worse than a front bow.

simple question- i am a beginner, learned to play pizzicato and simple stuff mary had a little lamb.
KubrickLives 1 year ago
@KubrickLives your bow stick should be fine. make sure to wipe the rosin off of your bow stick after use. you can do away with the fretless stickers. practice the sound of the music scales.

Oh my gosh thank you so much for posting these tutorials. You are very sweet and kind for doing so! I recently bought a violin secondhand for about 100 dollars. It is shabby and out of tune, and thanks you your tutorials I hope to learn and practice.
