i have a zune hd, and i love the whole entire look of it. the only thing that i like more about the touch is that it has A LOT more apps. but still i prefer my zune. makes me feel like i'm not following in everyones footsteps. because mostly everyone has the darn touch. and when people look at my zune they say that it looks awesome. since the zune is not as popular as the touch is, it gives it a bit of uniqueness. zune's only down side is that it has very few apps.
MS does not know how to work on the softwar they have the have been creating new products and not spending a bit of time on the zune hd they are lazy pieces of shit who only put 9 apps in the marketplace and dont support flash because they are to high and mighty for it because they designed a piece of shit cop off of flash.. so called silverlight.. u fucking suck at creating programs leave it to flash and google.. Yep, and the Zune has followed. I've owned an iPod Touch and other iPod's and a couple of Zune's. Now playing with a Zune HD (Getting my Original for Christmas :D), this is the player, in my opinion, to get if you aren't getting an iPod and use Windows. The greatest joy I've had yet.
Yeah microsoft has really cleaned up its act. The Zune hd will soon get flash and will also have the ability to not just output but play HD videos. The zune actually does sound better than the ipod except it doesnt have apps.
In my opinion if you want a true mp3 player that exceeds expectations get the Zune.

I held my new zune hd next to my friends ipod touch today in class and the difference is huge. An OLED just blows lcd out of the water. Once they start getting some more apps it's going to be fantastic. Props to MS for creating such a beautiful piece of hardware; hopefully they don't screw it up by not supporting the apps.

itouch/iphones can ouput up to 1080p video (1920x1080p) with hack. thats FULL HD. but you just need a hack to do so. Zune HD probably can too. So seriously the HD tag behind the ZUNE only refers to the HD radio which is cool if u listen to radio alot. so yeah. and also I guess styling.

Zune has its own software application that is optimised for the Zune HD. This means a much deeper experience compared to the iPod. Bing Zune and you can check it out for yourself.
I think it's a bit giddy to say that this will be an iPod Touch killer. No app store means this device can only do a fraction of what the iPod touch can. I really do have high hopes for the Zune HD, but I have a feeling I'll still be using my iPod touch a lot more... It has a few great key features, but that simply doesn't outweigh the power of the iPod touch.
One big thing not mentioned much in the comments is the screen quality.
The LCD on the Touch is pure crap. It is all washed out and faded.
The HD has an OLED screen which pummels the Touch in every way possible. Better contrast, better blacks, deeper colors, superior viewing angle, non ghosting fast response times..Once you see an OLED you will never go back to crap LCDs.

i have a zune 120gb which i like very much. one of the things i like about the 120gb version over the zune HD is that you only need to use one had to navigate it.
It's not really copying, but using the same method. It's not like Apple invented that scroll method. They we're just the first to implement it on a touch screen. I've seen the same swoops on a mouse and web-browsers.
It's a Touch Screen. How the fuck are you going to make a touch screen, not look like a touch screen. And it looks nothing like the iPod/iPhone. It's not plastic, it's all metal, and the back isn't that garbage Chrome. It's an all new design.
People bought the iphone not because it could do things other smartphones could do, because it cant.. and it still cant multitask. They bought it for the a) look and style b) coolness factor c) ease of use for its feature set.
I have a smartphone I multitask with.. I have apps but like others, I dont want 60,000apps for it. Even if the zune has only a handful of games, I am buying it for the media centric experience its built around.. not apps.

Im not talking about long term... Apple sold 10.6 million ipod's in the first quarter of 2008 alone, while microsoft was celebrating 2 million zune units sold overall since the launch of the first zune.. Sorry fanboys but microsoft has such a bad rep of making terribly manufactured devices for anyone to trust them. Ipod's are just too big now 4 most people to just switch over. The zune marketplace just doesnt show much promise yet.

This video is of an unfinished demo model, so you can't compare it with what's going to be in stores tomorrow, or after they get up and running with whatever updates were released with the Zune software v4 tomorrow.
The sheer speed of the interface on the Zune HD leaves the iPhone 3GS and even the new iPod touches way behind.
Microsoft doesn't need to "defeat" anyone - they could buy Nintendo, Sony, and Apple tomorrow if Bill Gates made a single phone call. They ain't all that... ;)

I think it's a bit giddy to say that this will be an iPod Touch killer. No app store means this device can only do a fraction of what the iPod touch can. I really do have high hopes for the Zune HD, but I have a feeling I'll still be using my iPod touch a lot more... It has a few great key features, but that simply doesn't outweigh the power of the iPod touch.

and on sept 15 you can custom order zune hds from MS from their "zuneoriginals" site you will able to mix and match colors and capacities

One big thing not mentioned much in the comments is the screen quality.
The LCD on the Touch is pure crap. It is all washed out and faded.
The HD has an OLED screen which pummels the Touch in every way possible. Better contrast, better blacks, deeper colors, superior viewing angle, non ghosting fast response times..Once you see an OLED you will never go back to crap LCDs.

It's not really copying, but using the same method. It's not like Apple invented that scroll method. They we're just the first to implement it on a touch screen. I've seen the same swoops on a mouse and web-browsers.

People bought the iphone not because it could do things other smartphones could do, because it cant.. and it still cant multitask. They bought it for the a) look and style b) coolness factor c) ease of use for its feature set.
I have a smartphone I multitask with.. I have apps but like others, I dont want 60,000apps for it. Even if the zune has only a handful of games, I am buying it for the media centric experience its built around.. not apps.
