I use to think this too, until I started focusing alot on BJJ. Really, it's never somebody saying 'I'm going to wrestle him/her', it's both fighters using there skills to there advantage. Some fighters are better on the ground than others, and some are better with there standup. It dosn't mean that one is worse than another, and in the end it just comes down to who can win and how they can win it. I know BJJ and Muay Thai and I have to say that BJJ is probably the more technical side of fighting
