I lived on 2nd Street in Royal Oak Michigan. Although my story is a bit different, the injustices we face seem to be the same. Yeah, as many have probably said after watching this video, I have seen a lot of that. I'm just glad I wasn't married and/or have kids when I was in the Army. Though I am also pretty much on the brink of poverty like a good majority of ex-vets.

The Uniformed Services Former Spouse Protection Act is the gravest miscarriage of justice ever perpetuated on any military retiree. Our family does not qualify for WIC, food stamps, or welfare because 47% of my husband's retirement goes to his remarried ex-wife. (who just so happens to be married to another retiree) Counts against our gross income. The kids are grown so it is not an issue of child support yet our children are 3 and 7 and we are forced to go to food banks to provide meals. Fair?

The federal government does not acknowledge the true numbers of veteran divorces and its own statistics do not include Coast Guard, Reserve or National Guard. The public figure of 4.3% veteran divorce rate released is an obvious lie put out there by the Pentagon. Its easy to conclude that we have arrived at a point similar to Egypt where the Police and the Military will have to clash. The Human Rights violations by our Family Courts against children require veterans to organize and strike back. I remember when I was stationed in Camp Pendleton as a Chaplain's assistant. When my wife came to my place of work and while I was on the phone, she stopped by my office and dropped me off some lunch. Later that day, she did not return to pick me up. I called around and no answer. It was too late to take a bus home, so I walked. When I got home that's when I found out that she took the kids and left me. Cleaned out my bank account. I then thought about taking my own life. But I didn't.

I work with Combat Veterans, and I am a survivor of an attempted suicide on My 19, 2009. I have seen this over and over in our court system, our Combat Veterans are coming home and getting screwed by Judges and DA’s who have no clue what our Combat Veterans are going through when they come home. American needs to wake up now, because I have said this before we can pay down or we “WILL” pay later. I promise you, mark my words it is only going to get worst.
You cannot keep sending our men and women 3, 5, 7 times to combat in a ten period and not think that everything is going to be fine when they come home. Most Judges and DA’s cannot even spell PTSD, more less know what it means. American you better wake-up!!! We need to support our men and women and we need a Veterans Court Program in every courthouse in this country. No Combat Veteran should have to pay this type of price for fighting for their country.

I am a combat, wounded, and decorated (2 Bronze Stars w/valor, Army Commendation w/valor & a Purple Heart) 101st Airborne Vietnam 66-67. I was divorced, child support (six daughters), Restraining Orders, and estrangement. Real men suck it up, give it to the Lord, and move on. I am a divorced Vietnam vet. I was lucky as my ex Mother-in-Law stepped in on my behalf and made sure my exwife didn't get a dime ( she ran off with someone else ). My brother a Navy Vet, wasn't as lucky. Did some time in the County jail for non support in '93. He shot himself on Dec. 23, 1993. In my opinion, they need to round up all the liberal judges on the bench and shoot the whole fucking bunch of them. Harsh, maybe, but I swore to uphold and defend the Constitution, not distort it.

@etramway Actually, your question is a good one. In retrospect, I think they all tend to do the same thing no matter what their Political Ideology may be ( Biased ). One of the reasons I never married while in the service was the constant seperation. One deployment to Vietnam and back home, the ship was in port on average of 45 days before going out on another Ocean Station patrol for 35 to 45 days. These 1 yr+ deployments can take a toll on on a marriage, especially with multiple deployments.

I can only imagine how hard it must be for some of these heroes after risking there lives for there country and have the courts stacked against them when they come home. I feel sorrow for the men and women who have to face this ordeal.
In Canada there is an unbiased court where divorces end up with thericher one paying alimoney not always male and the house is sold and tey each live in a home and the kids go from one house to another unlikw here whre the woman gets the kids the dad pays but doesnt see them. I lived on 2nd Street in Royal Oak Michigan. Although my story is a bit different, the injustices we face seem to be the same. Thank you for sharing this story, I just hope someday we actually do something to stop it. In the military was the only place I ever felt I belonged, although it was short lived, Basic Training at “fort lost in the woods” & AIT in Fort Lee Virginia was somewhere I met TRUE men and women! I wish I still belonged, but I do not envy what these men and women have to endure.

The Uniformed Services Former Spouse Protection Act is the gravest miscarriage of justice ever perpetuated on any military retiree. Our family does not qualify for WIC, food stamps, or welfare because 47% of my husband's retirement goes to his remarried ex-wife. (who just so happens to be married to another retiree) Counts against our gross income. The kids are grown so it is not an issue of child support yet our children are 3 and 7 and we are forced to go to food banks to provide meals. Fair?

Every non custodial parent will be responsible to pay unless their parental rights are signed over. I don't agree with parents being unable to see their children. In that regard, the custodial parent would be in contempt of court for denying visitation. It can be difficult but not impossible.

I remember when I was stationed in Camp Pendleton as a Chaplain's assistant. When my wife came to my place of work and while I was on the phone, she stopped by my office and dropped me off some lunch. Later that day, she did not return to pick me up. I called around and no answer. It was too late to take a bus home, so I walked. When I got home that's when I found out that she took the kids and left me. Cleaned out my bank account. I then thought about taking my own life. But I didn't.

My grandpa served in Vietnam, for 3 tours he came home to a mob calling him a baby killer. He decided he was going to kill himself, but he didn't because he knew he had a wife and for little girls to rise. I am a combat, wounded, and decorated (2 Bronze Stars w/valor, Army Commendation w/valor & a Purple Heart) 101st Airborne Vietnam 66-67. I am a divorced Vietnam vet. I was lucky as my ex Mother-in-Law stepped in on my behalf and made sure my exwife didn't get a dime ( she ran off with someone else ). My brother a Navy Vet, wasn't as lucky. Did some time in the County jail for non support in '93. He shot himself on Dec. 23, 1993. In my opinion, they need to round up all the liberal judges on the bench and shoot the whole fucking bunch of them. Harsh, maybe, but I swore to uphold and defend the Constitution, not distort it.

@etramway Actually, your question is a good one. In retrospect, I think they all tend to do the same thing no matter what their Political Ideology may be ( Biased ). One of the reasons I never married while in the service was the constant seperation. One deployment to Vietnam and back home, the ship was in port on average of 45 days before going out on another Ocean Station patrol for 35 to 45 days. These 1 yr+ deployments can take a toll on on a marriage, especially with multiple deployments.

If you get behind on child spt payments, you pay a lot of interest and the judge will put you in jail. It seems like you keep getting deeper and deeper in dept to her never stop paying. If you get behind on child spt payments, you pay a lot of interest and the judge will put you in jail. It seems like you keep getting deeper and deeper in dept to her never stop paying. My husband a 24 year retired CPO just commited suicide because he was faced with a LIFETIME of retirement payments of almost $1000.00 a month to a former spouse that he was married to for 16 years. I lost my beloved husband and the bitch lost her cash-cow! He should have done her first but we don't live close.

Wow, that is powerful and very true. I am a Veteran with the 101st, I had incredible support from my family and it was still difficult. I can only imagine how hard it must be for some of these heroes after risking there lives for there country and have the courts stacked against them when they come home. I feel sorrow for the men and women who have to face this ordeal.

In Canada there is an unbiased court where divorces end up with thericher one paying alimoney not always male and the house is sold and tey each live in a home and the kids go from one house to another unlikw here whre the woman gets the kids the dad pays but doesnt see them. While not in service to our country (not by choice, apparently being allergic to bee stings disqualifies service), I am a victim of every bit of this.
My ex rides on her horse into court with a daddy paid for lawyer while I suck wind and have my kids stolen from me by the court at the whim of a selfish and tyrannical woman who discovered a new way to cause me pain and shamelessly utilizes our very willing judiciary to do just that.
A country that forgets all of its citizens will be forgotten.

As the grandmother of a son with an unfit ex-wife that has made all kinds of threats, and a brother that has had to fight an un fit ex-wife over their children, and going through the kangaroo court system with my daughter and doing my own investigations/research into the law, yes, I fully support the fathers that care and try to the best of their abilities! There is only so much one human can do. God Bless our Military....I salute you!!

ERR! This has to stop! ASAP! I have many friends who are vets and this is not an uncommon issue at all. In fact it, common place! Men are definitely treated unfairly by the courts...there's this presumption that we are not fit to raise a child!! But we are fit enough to risk our lives to protect the citizens of this country? HA! I am so sorry for all vets who've faced this in their lives. I'm not sad, I'm pissed off!

I have lost several friends as I am a veteran, the most important friend I lost was my husband. Some of these careless comments make me sick. They are so full of hatred. I am glad that the loss of the most important person in the world to me did not harden my heart. He was such a mentor & unselfish soul he was perfect. Things will b what theyll b, I can change the everyday & position of others by a smile, or opening of a door, I haven't given up hope even though I wanted to countless times.

This is epidemic. The entire court system is against fathers. Not just military but abroad. The VAWA, child support enforcement, law enforcement, judges, and lawyers all work together. Men are being victimized by the abuse of power; feminism, and judicial. Their children ultimately suffer far greater due to not having a loving father in their lives. Women are NO angels, but are always treated as though they are completely innocent, and perfect. This abuse MUST STOP!

I'm not a Vet but, have fought the Criminal Child support services for 15 years. I paid my child support. When Custody of one of my kids was returned to me I received notice that My child support had been increased. Our justice system Sucks Our Government Sucks. I am the wife of a soldier who has been deployed now for almost four years his ex tried this crap and almost broke him - we fought back and got custody of all the kids and now she is paying him. He is the love of my life. Please dont give up FIGHT for what is right. It is so hard but your kids need you and you will find a better love.
