  • @SupperCaarrl

    HELL YES,freaken adorable,lol.

  • It's unfair to punish Charlotte for wanting to go be with a guy and leaving her "child" alone when it's something their mother has done to her "children" for a good long time. I think that's what the mom realizes by the end of the film.

  • @squeapler It's fair to punish Charlotte. Remember, Charotte is trying really hard not to be like her mother, her going off with Joe just proved that she was like her mother. She said I'll be right back, and didn't return to even check on Kate until it was too late. If she's trying so hard to not be like her mother, then why did she even tempt fate.

  • @redmr2na it is fair to punish her but her bloody mother should of been home looking after them not going off with Lou drinking or having sex, why couldnt she be a proper mum? I'll never leave my kids with a minder or babysitter cause my nephews have been palmed off on everyone and are a bit odd.

  • @SupperCaarrl Yes, she is cute as Wednesday Addams as well. How ever it's a different kind of cute. She's cute in a dark, creepy sort of way.

  • Man, Christina is just a little scene stealer here. She's just adorable. I love it, even though it's not good for her to have alcohol, and be drunk, but she just plays the role so well. (Hic) Hee Hee Hee.......(Hic) Hee Hee Hee..........(Hic) Hee Hee Hee.

  • reach because of what small children do. Charlotte may have been a wonderful big sister, but she sure failed on this Occasion.

  • them, and make sure their safe, especially if your much older then them the way Kate and Charlotte are. Kate is just a small child who doesn't know any better, and mis behaves, as young children do often. Charlotte is older and knows better. Even when they were at home in the kitchen, She shouldn't have poured her little sister as much wine as she did, or any at all. Also she should've put the bottle directly back in the fridge instead of leaving on the counter within her little sisters....

  • If I was the mother, I would've beat the ever living shit out of my older daughter for being so irresponsible. Then I would've taken her to the hospital and made her sit at her younger sisters bedside every night until she recovered. If she didn't, and or possibly died, I would've disowned her as well. To those saying it isn't Charlotte's fault, you can't blame her, I bullshit you can't. If your put in charge of a younger person i.e cousin or sibling, it's your responsibility to take care of

  • @SupperCaarrl yes, as a matter of fact she is :)

  • I started to cry a little when mrs.flax started to cry. I wish cher was my mom because if did that my mother would smack the living shit out of me!!!

  • omg i cannot believe she gave the little girl alcohol!

  • I have to be honest, I'd be pretty distracted too if I was getting it on with Jake Ryan... :)

  • @Caitlyn801 lol :) sixteen candles reference cool

  • "Your mother's on the way home to pick up some clothes." That means get the heck out of there Charlotte!! lol

  • That Nun doesn't fuck around, she just 'dives' right in!

  • No way WYonana could run after she got dicked for the first time her vaj had to be super sore/throbbing.that was fake.

  • Poor little Christina! D:

  • @faithandeg12 Are you referring to the fact that even a good actress like her has to resort to doing network television? I agree :(

  • @faithandeg12 she couldn't help it, i mean who wouldn't wanna make out or more

w/ Jake Ryan- he's so Hot but yeah, poor christina for getting drunk!!

  • She doesn't look younger than 15.She was 18 when she made the movie. Besides it was set in the 60's when a woman's purpose was to find a husband and get married. People didn't make such a huge deal over a young girl as long as the man "made an honest woman of her".

  • Joe is a bit of a perv though, she is fifteen but looks younger and he is 26. does this not seem strange to anyone else?

  • i wish kate was my sister she is the most wonderful kid there is all my sister

does is obsess over justin bieber :(

  • Joe hes 26 and Charlotte was 15, what a creep Joe is.

  • @87kittygirl she was 18 lol

  • Am I the only one who's disturbed by the outcomes of having sex in a church bel tower?

  • hêhé_Ì_féËl_sO_lÕÑÉly_tÒDáy

  • with charlotte being a virgin and being tight, i am shocked that "it" went in easily and she weren't in pain..it looked pleasureable..im amazed.

  • anyone else think its creep that a 26 yr old is having sex with a 15 yr old???

  • @4TheLoveOfMusic1989 ..back then it was common. when i was 15 i had a crush on a guy who were in his 20s also and that were in the 90s. Only recently have the age diff become and issue but even in some states in the south, teens can date older men/women and even marry without breaking the laws.

  • @TheScorpio4lyfe i know... still creepy. i think of it in temrs of my little sister. she is 17 now, but when she was 15 there was no way i'd let her date a 25 yr old man. lol....

  • @4TheLoveOfMusic1989 ..in the 60s it wasn't a big deal to date someone older than you if you were a teen and you could even marry them. to this day there are some states that still allow teens to marry older men/women.

  • If she didn't have all that makeup on, do you think anyone would have really known exactly what she'd been doing with Joe? The could have just been talking. Sure she's dressed like her mother but who could really be sure why she was away from her sister.

  • Why would you even let your little sister have any alcohol at all?

  • Ahhhhh :S Why would you leave your drunk little sister alone?

    Ignore your hormones for now!

  • @beatlesjohnnycash ..but remember she didn't know her sister got drunk bc she poured some extra shots while charlotte wasn't looking. And when you are kid or teen i don't think you fully think things through

  • I want to do HORRIFIC things to joe.........!!!

  • @boppy100 YES I agree with you 100% :)

  • @boppy100 ..lol me too Joe is FINE

  • anyone know where I can get the background music when the girl climbs the bell tower, is that the melody is beautiful.

    excuse my ortografia.gracias.

  • i'd like to give him one...

  • Is Joe a bum? Does he live up there?

  • Oh and by the way. It is illegal to leave minors un the house alone! so even if you're 17 years 364 day 23 hours and 59 seconds it is still against the LAW!!! At least that is how it is in Texas.

  • My point exactly. But like you said it's parenting 101. Parenting 101 should also include self sacrifice for the sake of your child. Wouldn't you agree, seeing as how you throw out the parenting 101?

  • @Hinata21994 No. No. No. You sacrifice things like making sure your children eat before you and have clothes on your back before you and have a roof over their heads even if you don't. But you are NO good to your children if you are not right in the head. You are actually probably more a detriment to them. So if you are removing yourself from situations to keep yourself emotionally and mentally above water, that is good.

  • No matter what happens loose your mind or not a parent has the obligation to put their child before them selves in EVERY aspect the have the responsibility to protect their children at all costs. You don't need a support system! You need to toughen up and deal with it! You had children now grow up and take care of them! From what I gather I think this 17 year old is more mature and capable of taking care of children then you! I guess thats a skill you loose with age in your case.

  • @Hinata21994 "You don't need a support system"? Really? Who do you think it is that gives parents (especially single ones) the strength and courage to face the difficulties they encounter in raising children? Their friends. Other family members. Fellow parents who know and understand what they are going through and can look at them and see when (for the sake of the children) the parent needs a break. Sometimes being away from your children is the protection that they need.

  • @Hinata21994 You are so young that you cannot even envision the stress and burdens that can come with being a parent. To suggest that they don't need outlets is absurd! One day you'll have children and you'll come to understand how much being a parent places on your shoulders. No one does ANYTHING on this earth without some type of help from someone else and parents are NOT the exception to the rule. Don't respond to this, I have nothing more to say to you.

  • @Hinata21994 If she had a support system, it may have been better for her to leave her kids with them while she got herself together, but she didn't. So, she did what she thought was best. I may not necessarily think it was ideal, nor do you, but to say she didn't love her girls or was neglectful of them is taking it way too far.

  • what happens to charlotte's little sister? does she die?...... whats happens to her do u know?

  • @Iluvmyhorses18 little sister survives, thank goodness!

  • Wow - all these judgmental comments (and approvals of such) are really immature and ignorant. For starters, the conflict between Mrs. Flax and Charlotte does not cause the accident; it easily could have happened anyway. Also, anyone who's posted the snide observations here, you weren't thinking either when you were young. no one knows how things will turn out - hindsight's 20/20 and your nasty, pretentious comments are embarrassing.

  • she was 17 people listen to wat her mom says hello when they talk about his age

  • Ive always been a little confused about 3:28 He actually penatrated her right? or were they just like extreme rubbing up against each other?

  • Why is a 26 yr old dude into a 15 yr old girl?

Kinda weird don't you think? :S

  • freakist sex scene. i think it kinda was akward

  • The mother in this film

= the exact same as my mother!

    freaky

  • The 4 reasons why Kate almost drowned

    1)She was too drunk

2)She was wearing too much clothing which proably was making it hard for her to move

3)The weather and water was freezing cold

4)Charlotte was not paying attetion to what the hell Kate was doing instead she was too busy trying to get it on with Joe

  • @bentleykoa but that water must've been 3 feet deep, at most. that nun walked in with no problem. probably wouldve went up to kate's shoulders. but i guess being in a river the moving water kept her down.

  • @bentleykoa 5) it was in the script!!

  • The mother is horrible. How she looks at her daughter in the hospital. Like she is the best mother in the world and does everthing right. Where was she, when the accident happend?

  • @tuerknopf4444 she was out. its pretty normal for parents to leave their kids home alone sometimes......

  • @tuerknopf4444 They aren't exactly 5 and 3 years old. She did nothing wrong by leaving her teenaged daughter to look after her sister while she went out.

  • @GirlieRat But even then you dont leave a young child with a teenager. If you care about your kids then don't neglect them!

  • @Hinata21994 You are insulting single parents everywhere! It is a far leap from suggesting that a mother leaving her younger child with her older 15 year old child is neglecting her. In another year, that 15 year old would be legally allowed to operate a car but you're telling me she can't watch her younger sister for a few hours? I don't even think you realize what you are saying. I suppose you were never left in the house with your siblings without adults until you were 18 years old?

  • @GirlieRat For your information im 17 I dont see anyone at my age or younger with enough experience or level of maturity to take care of a young child. I understand if it is an emergency but this women leaves her children alone to go have fun. Damn right I'll insult the women that neglect their children!

  • @Hinata21994 Seventeen? Lol. Well that explains it. You don't know much of anything about the way life works yet so to sit here trying to explain to someone who is as inexperienced as you are would be pointless. When you have a couple of children, then we can talk. If all of the 17 year olds you hang around are incapable human beings then I pity you. I suppose the only babysitters you'd ever get for your children would be over 40?

  • @GirlieRat At my age its not our responsibility to be taking care of our siblings. And yes I would hire a 40 year old! And again if a parent cared about their children, unlike the character in this movie, they wouldn't be up rooting multiple times and just thinking of themselves! If a single parent struggles so much then why are they going out and having "fun" while their children need them!?

  • @Hinata21994 I agree. It's not your responsibility to be doing that, but if every once in a while my mother said: "can you watch your brother/sister for a few hours", what's wrong with doing that? Being a parent means you're strapped to your house 24/7? That's not healthy for the child or the parent. How do you teach your children responsibility if you never give them any and see how they can handle it? Isn't that Parenting 101?

  • @Hinata21994 Also, unfortunately parents are human beings like everyone else with their own flaws, insecurities, hangups and all else. Being over 40 doesn't stop that. I do agree it was healthy for her to be moving her children around so much, but that hardly makes her an unfit mother. Go down to a foster home and talk to some of the kids there and hear what their parents put them through and then tell me that these two situations compare. You'll realize how foolish you sound.

  • @GirlieRat How is uprooting a child not unhealthy? You deny them the social bonds needed in the future and experience that helps them realize who they are? How, may I ask, is that good parenting. And why would you ever risk the safety of your youngest child just to "test" how much your older child can handle!

  • @Hinata21994 I mistyped, I meant to type "I do agree it was NOT healthy". Although you should have gathered that was what I meant from the rest of my statement. Deduction. Is that a skill 17 year olds lack as well?

  • @Hinata21994 LMAO! Are you serious? Risk the safety of your youngest child? Yes. Because the mother knew her oldest daughter was going to be tossing drinks all night. I actually don't even want to keep discussing this with you because you obviously don't know how parenting works. You have a bogus ideal that no one will be able to live up to and unfortunately, until you have children, you will not understand what I am saying. So enjoy the delusion that is adolescence...it won't last for long.

  • @GirlieRat No you should try realizing that what you're saying is an idiotic ideal that lazy parents enjoy using to excuse themselves. And yes risk the safety of your youngest child! She is a teenager! She needs to live her life and not her mother's! A teenager no matter what will rebel and we all know it! Or have you been out of adolesence to long?

  • @GirlieRat You must not remember. And how is it a bogus ideal? I know of many parents who give up their "fun" to care for their children! All you're giving is excuses for lazy parents who think they are still teenagers!

  • @Hinata21994 So jail every parent. Your generation is going to lead this nation into the future, huh? What a grim future. I can see it now: "Next on the evening news at 6, a mother was sentenced to 15 years in prison for leaving her 16 and 17 year old children home to attend an office Christmas party. Prosecutors say she violated the Anti-Maternal Convivial Laws which state that after giving birth, a mother is no longer allowed a moment's enjoyment outside of her children. Details at 6".

  • @GirlieRat You are missing the point! The argument is over a YOUNG CHILD! Not a couple of teens. A 15 year old thinks differently than a 16 year old! And by saying "enjoyment outside of her children" you are implying that you would sacrifice time with your kids for an office party? Wow! Amazing parent you are.

  • where are the mermaids in this show

  • @sassystanjy "Why is this movie called Mermaids?" such an annoying question. Here ya go:

The author of the original novel, Patty Dann: "Mrs Flax is like a mermaid. She feels unsafe falling in love with the men she dates, preferring instead to skim the surface of life. To risk total immersion could mean losing her identity and freedom and inviting heartache. As for Charlotte she resembles a mermaid poised on the shore, waiting to jump in, unsure whether she'll sink or swim."

  • @Hinata21994 My mother was a single mother who was pretty much home every night. We were poor, but every now and again she'd be able to go out and be with adults and have fun away from the stresses of raising 3 children on her own. We were at a age where we weren't toddlers crawling around who needed her watching us 24/7 and she could go out and leave us in the care of others who she trusted. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about so stop embarassing yourself!

  • @tuerknopf4444 careful with the sanctimonious judgments - no one is beyond criticism

  • mineapolis thats where i live

  • thank god kate is alright thank god for the nuns

  • Good grief, Charlotte is so stupid.

  • @Multiplexing13 - aren't we all at times?

  • I think this scene was stupid, why would you leave your buzzed kid sister outside in the cold all alone just to get it on with a freekin' adult anyways. She's like 15!

  • if you look deeper into what happened in this scene : whilst the older sister was engaging in sexual sin, the younger sister was representing her innocence .. notice that wen she started having sex the younger sister started drowning (ie, her innocence disintegrating), and then when she stopped .. thats when the nuns came and saved the child and the older sister realised what she had been doing

  • @419remz huh? I dont get it.... wat does ie mean?

  • @gosunnyfun she was acutally 15 go back to the scene where she is driving the car and she tells her mom to relax that she is only 15 and starting out and that is not the legalle age

  • Wow - Lou really loves Mrs.Flax (Cher). Look at him to be by her side in the hospital...how sweeet!!

  • I thought Kate is a good swimmer?

  • @sparkl1nwat3r Not when she's drunk!

  • isn't Kate drunk?

  • Chrstina Ricci is such a good actress...for her age!!

  • I LOVE Christina's cute little penguin walk at 0:41!

  • Although I found this to be a pretty cute movie, the incident between Joe and Charlotte would be statutory rape today (he's 26, she's 15). Joe may have moved to California but he'd still have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

  • lol hicup

  • so much for being a nun lol

  • I love Chers face when she walks down the hallway. XD

  • Wow. Charlotte lost her Virginity in the church bell's tower.

  • @Kien8486 With no protection by the looks of it!

  • @Kien8486 OK THATS IS WIERD BUT COOL !!!

  • it looks scary when MRS flax crying !! i get sad 2

  • this part made me cry so much

  • You can't blame Joe, as a guy I will react the same thing he did, what can he do? cry? lol guy think about sex all the time there is no surprise there. Its not even Charlotte's fault, she was pushed by her mother, so its Cher's fault from the beginning. Only Lou is a good character here. poor Kate.

  • i love u joe! tho ur a lil dumb...

  • Christina Ricci is sooooooo cuteeeee!!!!!!

  • hahhaha she does look like Michael Jackson, LoL

  • o lala those dirty ppl

  • he had no socks on lol

  • Isnt the actor who plays Joe the same guy in Sixteen Candles? He plays Jake Ryan?

  • @alitam219 yeah michael schoeffling or something

  • @alitam219 yeah

  • That Joe doesn't have many lines

  • omg she want's to be a nun but she is only 15 tut tut

  • soooo... still wanna be a nun? lol

  • WOW....O.O ......2.35..!!!

  • This is one of my favorite movies!

  • I love the music in this movie, including the music that was composed for this film.

  • 2:28 wtf? they see eachother and just do it right there? wow O_o

  • @randolpha13 they eyes tells everything haha

  • i started to bawg when cher starting telling that story and crying.

  • 5:09 Charlotte looks like Micheal Jackson

  • @RunWiffScissors - genius!

  • @RunWiffScissors haha you're right!

  • lol...the part where the little girl drank the wine was soooooo funny.... lol...lol

  • This was made about the last year of relative peace. The daily images of dead bodies, bombingsm, & mass murder had not yet begun. Private dramas like this were common. Girls & women were to be "protected" from the harsher "realities of life". Except of course colored peoples, and the poor classes of workers. Sex "education" was absent or "clinical", due to "religious" objections. Seems so innocent now. Did even when the movie was made. The past is always "simpler & cozier"???

  • shes 15 not 18 she lied to the doctor..

  • This is my favorite movie ever, I could watch it over and over again--well actually I do baha.

I always cry in movies, I swear. I was fine in this one, until Cher started crying, then I started bawling my eyes out. baha (: This is the best movie ever<3

  • lol, i watch it all the time 2...that makes 2 of us haha!!!!!!

  • i think when the mum kissed him she wanted to see her daughters reaction, so then the girl would kiss him. She knows her ways lol

  • heyy RightfullyReticent you will One day i can relate tO yOur stOry i tOO am in yOur shOes. yOu'll findd lOve♥ One day like yOu said yOur still a child . there's sOmeOne fOr EVERYONE. i strOngly believe that .!

  • eh. joey's not dumb. it was the 60s. a large age difference was common. and the kissing the mom was a mistake but she was drunk and he's 26..

  • this part really makes me sadd because i can relate tO dOinG sOmethinG sO stuupid leavinG my sisterr tO gO kiCk it withh sOme fOO that didn't evenn care fOr me and leavinG her alOne thank GOD nOthinG badd happenedd tO her :[ i WAS a suCkyy sisterr bCk denn . i'm sOrry miChelle .&&. i lOVE yOu ♥

  • i've always wondered..where is racheal flax when they go to look at the convent at (i'm guessing) 2/3am. Is she asleep?

  • nevermind.

    crappy show.

  • joey seems like some sortof dumbass...26yr old having sex with a 15yr old and kissing her mum at the sme time...and then sitting tehre like a moron...what a catch

  • yep...he seems .....slow... jajaja

  • @morellocherry1 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahaaahaha

  • @morellocherry1 yeah, his a dumbass

  • @morellocherry1 Charlotte was 18, and 18 is a legal adult. Which means you can date whomever you choose. And she wouldn't be the first young woman to date a dumbass, now would she...

  • @gosunnyfun shes actually 15, when she was getting her doctors appointment she was lying so she wouldnt get in trouble

  • @morellocherry1 yea hes kinda flakey huh

  • @morellocherry1 Well Said!:)xx

  • It''s amazing that kid didn't drown.

  • well not really i take that back because he didn't come.

  • wow if she wasnt pregnant then she is now

  • right!

  • @wchild56 Depo :)

  • does anyone have the TV version of this scene? it's nicer b/c they are kissing longer.

  • not to be mean or anything...but that joey guy seems kinda stupid.

  • i know, he seems so dumb :S

  • i thought cher was gonna slap her

  • ιтѕ αмαzєιηg ѕнє ∂ι∂η'т ѕαу нєя ρяαуєяѕ αƒтєя ѕнє нα∂ ѕєχ ωιтн נσє ℓσℓ

  • Lol! cool font-- how'd u do it?

  • @mwahsexc Nice font...what's the name? Looks like Russian calligraphy..

  • the scene when she is screwing him in the church is hot

  • Cher looked so pissed when that woman walked her down the hospital hallway.

  • @chriscashe She has a reason too...but you can also see the sadness in her eyes. Deep down Mrs.Flax do love her children and care for them. She just still young at heart...can't blame her.
