  • What a song!! You guys talk about voices, bad voices and good voices like Luke Kelly, Ronny drew e t c. But I am sure that Paddy Relly is a nice guy, and that is enough för me! :-)

  • Great stuff.

  • That was some very cool vintage footage, appreciate it, thank you! Irish people are such good lookers.

  • I have left so many places so many time, thankfully getting to old to be away any more.

    Thom Now in Scotland.

  • Than you for posting this great song!

  • Paddy has a nice voice. He's got nothing on Luke and Ronnie though.

  • laughing faces when they leave for war...weired.

  • Sounds like Paddy Reilly.

Shame there's not recording of Luke.

  • @simmo303 you are right- sad Luke lived so short time - Paddy Reilly is just a copy singer not in same class as Luke and Ronnie and also Ciaron was much better

  • Looking for this for ages. Thanks, Imagine Ronnie singing this :o

  • Excellent version; agree with "bloodonthestings" that the Irish sound fits this tune perfectly, and what better Irish band than the Dubliners?

  • @coltperc None!

  • Ah, I remember hearing this when I was a little kid and the refrain always stuck in my mind, but never knew what song it was! (I rather think I remember a woman singing it.) Bigmanio, you're the BEST.

Whose voice is singing on this version?

  • Paddy Reilley

  • @BC25citizen I don't know the name of the singer here - but the "woman's voice" you are thinking of may be the soprano from THE SEEKERS. You can search for them and this song here on YouTube.

  • @UptonGirl4 I think you are correct; that version is likely by the Seekers, where normal lead Judith Durham sings background, and Bruce Woodley sings as male lead. The Seekers are rightfully famous for superb instrumentals and harmonies. Bruce's smooth lead backed by Judith's soaring feminine background vocals really do grab the ear on the Seeker's unique version of "The Last Thing on My Mind".

  • Irish sound is great. It fits well to this Tom Paxton's tune. Thanks to make me know this version.

****** is not too much !
