  • 10:01 LOVEJOY?!?! IS THAT YOU O_O

  • @MamboBBL Yes, it´s the same actor David Warner ;) Here he plays Lawrence Beesley

  • @MamboBBL You guessed right! - its is Lovejoy from Cameron's 1997 movie Titanic! :)

  • I have The Poseidon Adventure on DVD, and that was a cool movie, Irwin Allen truly was the king of the disaster films, long live Irwin Allen. :)

  • @saints093 they say that irwin allen always wanted to make a film about titanic and posiedon was the closest thing along with the titanic time tunnel episode he came to it

  • This was my favourite Titanic movie. Unlike the 1997 movie, it followed the accounts of non-fictional characters. Yet, different than A Night to Remember in that, as they didn't know in 1979 if the ship had broken in half FOR CERTAIN, they flashed away from the ship's final moments, as a way of being inconclusive.

I love 1:04 into the clip, Rule Britannia playing, the whistles blow, and Titanic pulls out. I wish I could find this on DVD...

  • @Bonemeal2 It´s on DVD, i think there are two. Region 0 and one for all others. My DVD is from Japan ;)

  • @TitanicWHV Ordered it used through Amazon Marketplace. Just waiting for it to come...and it feels like it'll be forever with holiday-mail-bog-down.

  • @Bonemeal2 Hope it will arrive your before christmas :)

  • I can see where the name Queen Mary was covered up, and on the black part of the ship TITANIC was painted in white on the black background, the Queen Mary was a pretty good backdrop to use for Titanic. :)

  • @saints093 The Queen Mary is quite a celebrity. The most famous roll was its part as the Poseidon. (To me, anyway.) Poseidon Adventure is another one I wanna get on DVD, and that one IS readily available...

  • This film is made respectively in a historically inaccurate fashion.

  • Gosh a 10 minute film about the titanic!?!?! Lol and also at 10:03 is that Lovejoy from the titanic film 1997?

  • Keep in mind, at the time this was made, it was believed the ship went down in one piece, no one knew it was broken in half until 1985.

  • @Anynom yeah. Damn shame about the triple expansion engines - what a waste of good metal.

If they were rebuilt today it would be interesting to see how much compressed air is required to run them.

  • Easy to see where Jim Cameron got some of his ideas!

1:30 newsreel cameraman scene, like the one in the 1997 film

3:32 same hymn used in the 1997 film

  • it didn't break in half?

  • @kurt1699 This is 1979 before titanic was found. it was found in 1985. please have you facts right.

  • @matrixfan127 oh stupid me i forgot that thanks very much im still learning about titanic as it sank and the wreck

  • They did not even bother to try to make the ship at least resemble the real Titanic? Lame.

  • Terrible such a beautiful ship was sent to the bottom. They don't make ships like this any more, they all have water slides, carousels, and screaming children that should be thrown overboard.

  • I realy have to say my favorite titanic movies are a night to remember sos titanic and titanic 1996. I dont like 97 that much its too hollywood like. Even if this one is too Queen Mary like its way better then Titanic 2.

  • I think the name "SOS Titanic" was a misstake and the right name is "SOS Queen Marry

  • Why did they turn the Countess into a predatory veiled lesbian?

  • Queen Mary: since 1972 fooling people thinking that it looks like the Titanic

  • So, how many times has Queen Mary played the part of Titanic?.

  • Lol, You can see Queen Mary's bow in the first few seconds of this video, when she was sliding down the ramp.

  • @Tundraboy05 That is the Queen Elizabeth sliding down the launchways in several shots. The QM was painted white at her launching. Funny how all liners launched in their final colors met awful fates. Olympic was the only one of the big 3 White Star ships painted white and she was the only one not to meet a tragic end.

  • @DCnightcrawler I know, and true.

  • RMS Queen Mary?

  • @Christoph078 Yes, that´s true. They filmed S.O.S. TITANIC onboard the QUEEN MARY and you can see her a view times.

  • and the engine telligrafes arnt a complet circiel like on titanic

  • @TitanicWHV Where? I know that's the Queen Mary, etc, but I don't see "Queen Mary" anywhere. Or were you just saying that you can see the ship ITSELF a few times?

  • @Christoph078 no r.m.s titanic

  • i mean it took 88 years 2 make a real expensive titanic movie thank you james cameron

  • Idiots, it's splits in half

  • @AMY1213141 hey fuck face ITS 1979 U FUCKING IDIOT THEY ONLY DISCVERD TITANIC IN 1985 SO URE THE IDIOT DICK HEAD

  • @theretrogamerno1 u scare me

  • @AMY1213141 lol

  • second 10 is the queen mary

  • The 1997 version is the best! James Cameron rules!

  • this movie is all kinds of bull number the ships details look nothing like the real titanic.

  • 6:32 The masts are missing!

  • Looks like RMS Queen Mary:)

  • @lasuvidaboy no its the rms titanic

  • i find the film is not so fine than the other film´s

  • i think the director of this film didn't have creativity, because from 10:10 looks exactly like the final scene from titanic "a night to remember" (1958)

  • @olty49 It is exactly the ANTR scene... only with an bit more color... Here are many scenes from ANTR. And what i don´t know before, but Youtube User "RaisetheTitanic1980" Jonathan Smith has give that information, that the collision scene Model of the Titanic is the same model that they use for the Raise the Titanic cut beginning.

  • @olty49 There have been about 6 or 7 famous movies about the titannic sinking....all excellent in their own right.

Even Nazi Germany made one in 1943....see it at netflix....

My favorite one is the British production from 1958...."A Night to remember"

  • @EdwardRommel I have both "S.O.S. Titanic" and "A Night To Remember' on VHS,..."Night To Remember " is the better of the two!

  • @olty49 agree!!!

  • It is "Rule Britannia"

If you want to hear it sung then type in "London proms"

  • What's the name of song in 1.07 min.?

  • @mobyyy7777 That´s the national hymn of great britain ;)

  • Shame of me! Thanx.

  • @mobyyy7777 no problem ;) You´re welcome ;)

  • legal

  • they really painted Titanic on the queen mary hull?

  • what was the last song the band was playing on here?

  • Here they are playing "Autumn".

  • 5:30 - That is the normal Titanic again?

  • There was a connection between S.O.S. Titanic & Raise The Titanic. Lew Grade financed RTT while his brother Lord Delfont financed S.O.S. Delfont even asked Grade if he could borrow the large RTT model while it was still in its 1912 colours) for S.O.S. . . Grade refused.

  • My guess Grade was afraid that his brother's Titanic film would overshadow his. But ironically both the films failed at the box office when they came out. Unlike RTT's release, S.O.S. was released theatrically in Europe, but aired on TV in the United States, which this film in fact was the first Titanic movie I saw about 11 years ago. However, I heard the film used clips from "A Night to Remember" (except it was colorized) though some people claimed it was unused footage from the 1958 film.

  • Not exactly. Reported in 1977 for films released in both 1979 and 1980, two films were listed to be "The Sinking Of The Titanic" and the "Raising The Titanic". Both films were to be financed and released by the UK. "The Sinking Of The Titanic" became "SOS TItanic" while "Raising" became RTT.

  • Hi Jonathan. I didn´t know that. That´s cool, thanks :)

  • This excellent film was done onboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach California.

  • ähm... the secnes are exactly like the ones in the new titanic film with leonardo dicaprio!

is titanic a making of of this film?

  • @fachlehrerin You're an idiot.

  • @emlodik jap, I was :)

  • i loved this film.

    still do.

i love the fact that its dark and gritty.

  • the iceberg scene is funny

we see a large iceberg, and then we see titanic hitting a small one

  • Did you know that the man that played Lovejoy in Cameron's Titanic had a role in this movie too?

  • Oh, yes. here he is Lawrence Beesly. Here he will be saved :-)

  • wjoes lovejoy?

  • The valet for Cal (aka his henchmen)

  • @Nobodywantsme I actually never heard that David Warner was in this film as well, and was quite surprized to see him.

  • yes there is

  • gimme a break, this film was the cheapest pile of bile ever made about Titanic, a cheap TV movie using a rusty Queen Mary for deck scenes, the launching scene at the start isnt even Titanic, the WORST movie ever created depicting this tragic story an absolute insult.

  • there isn't any footage of titanic launching. does everything need to be in your face and perfectly depicted? Do you have a sense of imagination? I for one love the movie

  • There's some footage of olympics launch

  • @rrswimmer16 No, it's the Queen Elizabeth.

  • Who has taken down the rest of this great film? Anyone know where I can find it?

  • if u find out plz tell me i am looking for it as well if i find it i will send it to u

  • James, Did you get my reply?

  • was this only a cuople of scenes from when she sinks or is this all u see

  • why did someone put a minus on my comment, it was actually true!!!!! about using queen mary in S.O.S titanic

  • "S.O.S. TITANIC" is the first Titanic movie I ever saw. It aired on TBS about some 11 years ago along with the National Geographic Documentary, "Secrets of the Titanic".

  • hey they use a night to remember footage/shot

  • the scenes at the beginger in black and white is real fottage mate

  • the queen mary, not titanic,

  • this ship is queen mary, no?, there are ghosts there..

  • 1 thing it broke in half when it was sinkin,,,,

  • is because this movie was made 6 years before the discovery of the wreck and break-up theory confirmaton

  • u dont know much about the titanic do u

  • They hadn't discovered the wreck in 1979, they found it in 1985. Then, when they didn't see the other half, they knew it broke in half.

  • reply to doritos48rox question, they actually used the queen mary as the titanic in SOS Titanic 1979, but it was cheap 1970's, so what do you expect lol

    cheers

  • the director of this film must not have not known to much about titanics design. this ship is way off.

  • Doesn't look much like the historical one at 3:10

  • @DLAbaoaqu You're right,...it doesn't,...not even close to the actual ship!

  • It´s called Eternal Father, Strong To Save.

  • What song do they sing in the mass scene?

  • those in peril on the sea

  • I like the quality of this version. I just wish it was the full version of the film instead of the cutted version.
