all I can figure is in season 4 when he was in the hospital and carrie took care of him and he pushed her away..

They didn't fight. Big was lying in bed with her after getting out of hospital from his heart surgery and said "What are we doing?" Meaning why are they not together? Carrie thought she had him. But when they woke up, he was same ol' Big again. Carrie wasn't surprised.
