Definately go with a 6950, it's way better than anything NVIDIA has. AMD has just killed NVIDIA with every card it's released. Right now AMD's 6990 is the best GPU, and AMD is soon to release it's awesome 8 core CPU.

In my experience reason for replacements has been the deciding factor for brand choice, nvidia I replace because they came out with a better card, ati/amd I replace because the damn thing burn out after 6-12 months. Ati/amd ends up in the trash broken, nvidia - give away or still have and all still work.

but ATI/AMD have always been good for Performance in budgets, you can buy a cheao £41 Graphics card from ATI/AMD that can STILL run Crysis Warhead on max settings!
@Arteymis Catalyst has great settings. Imo, the Advanced A.I rocks. Increases FPS by 10-20 in some games while running really high settings. Does nVidia do that?

The GTX550 came out about a week ago, the 5770 came out in '09.....The competitor at the time was the GTS450 which I loved but the HD5770 hit it pretty hard. There is a difference, i also would say teh 9600gt with an intel core 2 quad is a good system, but ATI/AMD combos are better quality and performance for your dollar. My 5770 and AMD x4 work incredibly together and it was fairly cheap.

the gtx 470 was nVidia's answer to ATI's 5870, they were technically close but the 5870 still wins, the gap(small as it is) has closed somewhat with nvidia's 500 series

Compare the power consumption to performance all down the line between the two companies. While you are at it check the GPU performance to price ratio. After looking at the FACTS objectively, you just may change your statements.
I really prefer nvidia. It's slightly better, and they just seem to get things right nowadays. Even for light gaming I extremely like nvidia cards. However. There really isn't that much difference, unless you want very high quality. So, if you're looking for a good graphics card but not too expensive, go with ati! Or go with nvidia! It doesn't matter too much! People just get stressed over these things!
nvidia is NOT worth the extra $80-$100+ for the 6-12% boost you get in the high end cards. why not spend 160 on a GOOD ati card and get 50-80 frames on a high end game then spend $220 and get just 55-93 frames. all thats just a example. 60 frames already is smooth like butter, unless you want 3d stuff. then you might wanna crossfire or sli on high/mid end cards rather then spend twice as much as on 1 high end card
Just get an I7 basic like a 920 and a basic mid level Nvidia card and go for water cooling and a decent power supply. You will thank me later. See my channel for some videos.

nvidia is usually a bit faster, e.g gtx 470 vs 5850, but the price difference just ain't worth it. pay $50 more for a couple frames on a few games is not a good deal

The only reason I stepped back to Nvidia was because of the drivers, but from the beginning I knew there should be some weird reason why these ATI cards are so cheap compared to Nvidia, it's drivers are crap.:) I fried 2 ATI Cards within a half year without overclocking it because of fan speed issues, while a Geforce 7900GTX from 2006 got overclocked like crazy and still works just fine.:) Enough reasons to say fuck ATI

nvidia is NOT worth the extra $80-$100+ for the 6-12% boost you get in the high end cards. why not spend 160 on a GOOD ati card and get 50-80 frames on a high end game then spend $220 and get just 55-93 frames. all thats just a example. 60 frames already is smooth like butter, unless you want 3d stuff. then you might wanna crossfire or sli on high/mid end cards rather then spend twice as much as on 1 high end card

Just get an I7 basic like a 920 and a basic mid level Nvidia card and go for water cooling and a decent power supply. You will thank me later. See my channel for some videos.

ahh i remember back in the day i brought a ATi graphics card for like £150, IT FUCKING SUCKED ASS!, then i got a nvidia Geforce something for like £200 SUCKS ASS AGAIN, then i got the Nvidia 470 IT FUCKING owned, loud but owned, over clocked it as hard as i could so its like UBER POWERFUL, like 9 frames more than normal

nvidia is usually a bit faster, e.g gtx 470 vs 5850, but the price difference just ain't worth it. pay $50 more for a couple frames on a few games is not a good deal

The only reason I stepped back to Nvidia was because of the drivers, but from the beginning I knew there should be some weird reason why these ATI cards are so cheap compared to Nvidia, it's drivers are crap.:) I fried 2 ATI Cards within a half year without overclocking it because of fan speed issues, while a Geforce 7900GTX from 2006 got overclocked like crazy and still works just fine.:) Enough reasons to say fuck ATI

@Ace33blue Okay first, you never even bothered looking up the problems that Ati cards have on Batman arkham asylum, while Nvidia cards somehow perform flawlessly. Second, are you telling me that when a game company that advertises Nvidia, puts up a patch that has a benchmarking test on it, and says that Ati cards perform better, then Nvidia tells them to take it down, that that is not, in ANY way, bribery?
