I've heard that it is bad to blow out a candle because you are using one element basically "against" another. Apparently some pagans find this taboo. But someone once told me that it doesn't matter what you use to put out the flame, what matters is the INTENT behind it. Since I currently don't own a snuffer, I simply blow out my candle with an intent that is appropriate for whatever I am doing.
Haha yeah, closer to the candle might work better, and in a downward motion if at all possible. I'm not great at it either, I just know how it SHOULD work lol.
I think caciquepadila is right. If you do it more kind "at" the candle than above it, it seems to work better. But since this one is in a container, I don't know if that will always work. The rush of air blows it out, so you have to kinda do it really fast.
lol ok so i tried what u did and i found that if you point at the flame and not over it it works lol. i have a pillar candle so idk if that makes a difference lol

This is the way i do it and it took me a long time I snap my fingers over the flame and they turn off but oh boy did it take me a ,ong time!!
