I was linked to this video though Songza and had to come here to see who was covering this song. Amazing...............I was captivated by this and think you did a great job singing it but the guitar work blows me away. I did keep thinking that this would be a great Willie Nelson song. The way you covered it made me think of Pancho and Lefty. Do you have an album??
No me gusta el country, bueno casi no, pero ver tu interpretacion hizo que me gustara un poco mas, ahora buscare la partitura para algun dia poder tocarla
Yep, Waylon took the second verse on this song on David Lynn Jones' debut album "Hard Time On Easy Street".
David Lynn Jones wrote it.
Waylon has done some cool backup work, such as on The Last Gunfighter Ballad, on Guy Clark's first album "Old Number One", from the 70s, and Emmylou Harris' version of Spanish Johnny, which was written by Ian Tyson, who included his own version on his first solo album (without Sylvia), "Ol' Eon".
Waylon was one of the great voices of country music.
No, to the best of my knowledge, he didn't perform it (I could be wrong), but he did do a cover of L.A. Freeway, which was written by Guy Clark, and which sounds quite similar to this song in places.
Great job. Hard song to pull off. But you did it. Good strings too

Fantastic
I was thinking "o god he's gonna sing...he's gonna sing...o .....wait....this is awesome"
Reminds me of Eddie Vedder "in to the wild" soundtrack.
I love that kinda music.

Thanks for an excellent performance of one of the great songs. I've always been surprised that it isn't better known.
You've got the right voice for a song about hard living and long nights.
Good guitar playing too.

I've toyed with the idea of making an album of originals, but it's not a priority.
Thanks for your interest, though, as well as the compliment!

This is really good. David Lynn is a friend of mine and still does demos in my studio here in Arkansas. I will show this to him.

Man I love this song...and your version of it is OFF THE CHARTS. Come to think of it, all your songs are really good. You got a great outlaw sound.

Oops.
The Last Gunfighter Ballad was actually from Guy Clark's SECOND album, "Texas Cookin'".
My mistake.

Great Song!! I am going crazy trying to figure where else I have heard it, Emmy Lou Harris maybe? or Jerry Jeff Walker?

Good call on the Jerry Jeff Walker thing, Tbar!
No, to the best of my knowledge, he didn't perform it (I could be wrong), but he did do a cover of L.A. Freeway, which was written by Guy Clark, and which sounds quite similar to this song in places.
If Emmylou did it, I'd love to hear it.
