  • amazing. that speed is ridiculous. its targets so precise. i profess to not studying anything of this nature, but am affectionate to its way. i apologize if i offend with my nub assumptions and critique in saying. WOW! i i haven't seen anything before of this speed and precision with such minimal wasted movement. there may be faster that i have yet to see but wow.

    its Samurai Deeper Kyo =)

  • hahahah Nanadan?! :/ Have to Hachidan

  • pretty cool.

  • Very nice, especially the Shingon chant in the background. ^^

  • Blinding Fast!!!!!!

  • Miyazaki-san, a kensei!

  • how many dan does he have?

  • @zenaku85

he's 8th dan now, the highest possible rank achievable through performance. say what you like about him but he IS one of a kind!

  • @Uzjel look really good. that's why i asked :)

  • @zenaku85 hachidan apparently... ah, hachidan is amazing! my sensei is seventhdan (chichi?dan) so thinking about hachidan... wah, so crazy amazing!!!!!

  • @BlackHayateTheThird i had to watch this video again. it's so cool

  • @BlackHayateTheThird : Nanadan ;)

  • @YanikuKun thank you^^

  • i know nothing about kendou and planing to learn it...

but man can tell he is godlike....

  • o_o.... wait o_O... upon further inspection.. O_O Holy Shit that was an ippon?

  • King? God more like

  • HOLY MOTHER OF GOD THAT WAS FAST!

  • somebody know the name of the song ?

  • only the champion can taste the true bitter taste of loneliness

  • secret of genius...

    modern samurai.

  • this is the best ever summary. he is legend!

  • He is Masahiro Miyazaki. He is 6 times champion in Japan. I think he is more strong than samurai before .We should learn his spirits.

  • i think this is Eiga's documentary, after having won the Corea-Japan team match...

  • his speed is amazing and accurate to boot wish they had a kendo school where i live closest one i found is almost 3 hrs away. anyone think 35 to old to start doing kendo? i know that it would have been better to start earlier but never knew about it until i was older

  • @Gorgoroth969 your never too old to learn... but the foot work and timing would be tricky to improve quickly compared to younger classmates put your heart into it

but that 3 hour drive does seem far......

and also kendo seems to have a harder concept to grasp then other martial arts.....

because every time i try to explain it to my friends they end up thinking its simply bashing away with a stick at an opponent....

but still...best of luck to you

  • @Gorgoroth969 Hello

I think it all depends on what is your target. FOr sure your life will change in a good way thanks to kendo- but there are other disciplines like iaido- that I would recommend for someone who doesnt want to push to limits on every training and still sharpen the mind. So age doesnt matter twice! Because its all up to You- good luck and dont think too much- just go and start to train ;) Rest will come.

  • alright as a response to my first post, eiga did beat him the second time with a kote, not a tsuki, but does anyone know if they fought more than twice? sorry if its off subject lol i was jw

masahiro miyazaki is one of my greatest heros, thanks for posting this vid!!

  • im not sure, but i beleive masahiro fought eiga 2x's didnt he? i think the first time they fought eiga lost, masahiro struck with a men and eiga tried to counter with a late do, but the second time, eiga won. it was either with a kote or a tsuki, i cant remember exactly, anyone know? please correct me if im wrong

  • It's in the Eiga's documentary

  • That wad so amazing! thanks for that very inspiring/artistic video!

  • amazing speed OO i wish i had the same x)

and the song =p where could i get more of that stuff ??

  • Awesome video!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Very nice! Kendo and kenjutsu really is the way of the warrior mind, nothing ele comes close.

  • very nice .....I plan te begin practice ........this martial art impressioned me :)

  • lol aff o cara e muito rapido

  • what does it say at 45sec and 50 sec?

  • We're not teaching these young men a sport, but a way of living

  • "We are not teaching these young men a sport but a way of living

    so they can withstand adversity"

the rest of the quotes at the end i can't read them :(

  • Nice!

  • i like the music, and the fighting spirit demonstrated in the video

  • His movement at 00:30 is amazingly fast, but that is achievabale with lots of training.

What amazes me more is his footwork after that hit - look at his right foot - it makes Fumikomi twice so damn fast that you cant follow... amazing !

  • Nom de... Ce mec est vraiment surprenant, je dois bien l'avouer. Rarement vu une telle rapidité.

  • no is paz

  • the king ?...

  • that movement is blazing lightning fast. i can't even imagine how much training he had to go through to ahieve that skill.

gentleman we have just observed the very best a man can be in using swords

  • WTF i thought you were exagerating!! It's truly awesome... And i've seen things but this... i wish i could see it in real life. Still i think this speed is achievable with this kind of weapon due to it's weight, flexibility and momentum. There are many kind of swords, even in fencing sport, that have different kinds of speed. Thanks for bringing the video. Awesome.

  • Yeah miyazaki is insane. Just to give you a little idea he is a hachi-dan that is equivilant to a eighth degree black-belt. And to get to that you have to have a minimum of 45 years of doing kendo. and the bamboo sword is about the same weight as a fencing sword but a little less flexible.

  • dude he is not hachidan yet

  • Agree, Miyazaki is still Nanadan.

  • he is hachidan now!

  • @txuxfxaxcxe and won the hachidan taikai ( 寛仁親王杯第9回八段選抜剣道大会 ) too.

  • @txuxfxaxcxe and won the hachidan taikai ( 寛仁親王杯第9回八段選抜剣道大会 - 4. september 2010 ) too.

  • is he hachi-dan

  • I miss doing Kendo I was supposed to be on the MIdwest team for US Kendo championships but my schedule got fucked up so I didn't go. Kendo at this level is so amazing, most people will never know.

  • Get back into it... never to late, right?

    がんばって。

  • No money to go now, I wish I could. :( Ill go back when my life settles down again. :)

  • That's the spirit.

    You'll be here eventually !

    がんばってください。

  • Thanks friend! Hope we can practice together sometime!

  • That would be fun.

    : D

  • It looks fun but I doubt I could afford all the gear.

  • i believe some places allow you to rent the armor

  • if u r serious, most sensei will buy for u,but only after long training and proof u r worth it.

when i started i couldnt afford even shiai but my teacher took care of me.he usally buys for all the younger students.

    kendo isnt jus sword fighting.

  • so point is to wait until the oprotune time then strike the guy before he can get u?

  • there is this saying about kendo:

    katte ute, utte katsuna

do not strike to win. win, then strike.

it is not that you just wait for your chance, usually, you have to elaborate a gap in your oponent's defense.

  • if your mind is "waiting", you will get hit first by you opponent.

  • i would love to learn this stuff it is amazing

  • I'm learning it, it's the best sport of the world.

  • I agree..it seems soo simple..yet is sooooo complex..and yet simple if your mind allows it to be :)

  • its true, most people think there are only 4 types of stirke, but the posibilities of hits are as stars on the sky ....

  • Every kungfu Figh-ting...ding a ling aling ling ling....he moves as fast as light-ning!!!

  • This not Kung Fu, you monkey!

  • A king in martial arts? Do you know what is a martial art?

  • Comment removed

  • Good swordplay, but shit editing. I'd like to see this again without wasting half of the video on god damn text. And none of the strikes are in slow motion. Oh well.

  • I don't really know who is The King between him and Eiga. I'd say both in their times.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • awesome

  • Awesome clip, thanks for posting!

Some beautiful cuts there, and I'm pretty sure that the shinpan in the first clip is Sumi Sensei too.

  • the first kote strike was crazy fast...a could barely see it...he's amazing

  • some of his attacks i can't see who is the first hit!!

  • This is actually the man who trained my sensei.

  • Wow. Impressive.

  • what is a sensei?

  • A teacher.

  • really?

  • absolutely venerating! im so motivated to be better in kendo now! thnx!

  • Hello,

Thank you for uploading this great video. I really enjoy it.

Can I paste this video on my blog?

  • his charisma is thrilling... and on top of that, he's fast i can't barely see it...

  • this is first time i've been seen in a real life

  • he's fast as bullet and he's like a wind

  • agreed

  • hes hot.

  • he is .... KING omg hes like fuckin awesome

  • he is very telented...

  • I don't know anything about kendo so can any one here explain to me why Kendo players stop after only one hit on their opponent? Why not go ballistic and score multiple times?

  • well, if someone were to cut you with a razor sharp katana, how many "strikes"/times do you think you can withstand before you gush profously from bleeding to death?

  • lolz :D one indeed

  • I understand about swords cuts but that's not a real sword. I know that kendo is the sport aspect of kenjutsu and if your gonna do sport why not make play it to the bone like other sports?

  • there are indeed multiple strikes in Kendo like "Kote-Men" or "Kote-Do" and so on, but you can only score one point at the time so when you hit twice you will get the point for the last strike.

  • if you do kote-men and your kote was wonderful but your men was a disaster you don't get a point

  • its a form of respect

  • ekjudo, Kendo is not only the sportish part of Kenjutsu. Kendo actually adopts most of Kenjutsu and Bushido philosophy, but istead of targeting the martial art to kill, it targets itself to the development of ones mind.

So, even if you are not using a real sword, you should pretend and fight like you have one. Actually, samurai stoped using real swords for practice since Oda Nobunaga era; They replaced their swords for wooden ones(booken) and their Öyoroi for early prototypes of Bogu.

  • agreed

  • Because there are 4 places on the body that you hit to win the round. Wrist, throat, head, and waist. They have to be clean hits to get the points.

  • The idea is to land a hit on one of the four target areas, the men or the top of the head, the kote or the wrist and forearm area, the doh or the chest area, and the ski or the throught. Once one is hit the judge calls the word yame or stop. It takes two points to win. Also if your opponent drops the sword or goes out of bounds it a half a point

  • dont u mean tsuki for throat?

  • tsuki you noob

  • Miyazaki sensei's ken is really beautiful.

  • he is amazing

  • Awesome..

  • can Miyazaki fight without a stick?

  • He's a Police Instructor...and I'm pretty sure he's skilled in various Martial arts, plus the awareness and distance notion that Kendo provides, well... you don't wanna mess with him.

  • Can a moron talk shit mouth closed

  • can you fight with a stick

  • Its not a stick. and you cant fight with a stick lol inless its the chinese staff. But still this video is cool. i watched this in the movie theater in Tokyo! ^_^

  • no i was replying to a guy who insulted kendo. In kendo you use a shinai he said it was a stick i know what it is

  • kote at 1:10ish omg that was fast.

  • Great men,kote ,do, suke...everything really what a master

  • Wtf is a suke? I guess you were just trying to type "tsuki"

  • Awesome.

  • beautifully done! Thank you!

  • Awsome.

  • Thats such a cool vid.

  • No idea, i got it straight from the guy who made it when he came to the club i think

  • yes,... where can we find it?

  • where can i find it

  • is this part of a DVD, can u please tell me?

  • i think its part of a dvd called Fudoshin
